The Toll‐Like Receptor 2 (TLR2) plays an active and important role in Staphylococcus aureus‐induced chronic ocular inflammation. The aim of this study was to investigate the expression and function of TLR2 of corneal stromal cells in ex vivo rabbit model of S. aureus keratitis. Corneal buttons with sclera rims placed in an ex vivo air‐interface organ culture were assigned to two groups: corneas with epithelial and stromal abrasions. Each group was then divided into two sub‐groups exposed to UV‐killed S. aureus ATCC 6538P and S. aureus ATCC 29213, respectively. TLR2 and IL‐8 mRNA expressions were analyzed by quantitative real‐time RT‐PCR. TLR2 localization was visualized by immunofluorescence analysis. The results demonstrated that TLR2 and IL‐8 mRNA were significantly expressed in the stromal cells of the groups exposed to S. aureus strains. Moreover, it has been demonstrated that, after corneal injury, keratocytes differentiated into myofibroblasts became able to express TLR2 only when exposed to S. aureus. Identification of mechanisms regulation of corneal TLRs may lead to development of therapeutic interventions aimed at controlling corneal inflammation. This ex vivo model can be used to clarify the molecular events of bacterial‐corneal tissue interactions and their inflammatory consequences.  相似文献

Objective: To provide clinicians and researchers information regarding (1) the existing outcome measures to assess the loss of functionality in the activities of daily living (ADLs) of patients with stroke and (2) the presence of these assessment tools in the Italian context.

Study Design and Setting: For this Systematic Review Medline, CINAHL, and PsycINFO were searched for articles published up to 4 July 2017. Two authors independently identified eligible studies on the basis of prede?ned inclusion criteria and extracted data. Study quality and risk of bias were assessed using the Quality Assessment Tool for Observational Cohort and Cross-Sectional Studies.

Results: Of 370 publications identified and screened, 46 studies fell within the inclusion criteria and were critically reviewed. The most commonly used tools were: the Frenchay Activities Index and the Functional Independence Measure.

Conclusion: This review has emphasized the need for agreement among researchers as to which tool must be studied in depth or adapted to other national contexts in order to develop universal norms and standards.  相似文献

Objective. The aim of this paper was to study the association between dental satisfaction and oral health-related quality-of-life (OHRQoL) when controlling for individual, clinical and psychological factors. Materials. Secondary analysis was conducted using data from a large study carried out in the Swedish region of Värmland in 2004. The questionnaire included demographic variables, clinical assessment and the following instruments: the Dental Visit Satisfaction Scale (DVSS), the short version of Oral Health Impact Profile (OHIP-14) and a modified version of the revised helping alliance questionnaire. Internal consistency analysis was undertaken on the instruments to assess reliability; bivariate comparisons were assessed to compare DVSS scores with individual factors (age, gender and education). In addition, a three step hierarchical multiple regression analysis was performed with DVSS as a dependent variable. Results. Data were completed for 485 randomly selected patients. The mean age of participants was 43.5 years, 54.6% were women,and 41.2% had high education. The median DVSS score was 48 (range 10–50) and the median OHIP was 3.0 (range 0–56). All the instruments showed good reliability. Bivariate analysis showed that females were more satisfied than males (p ≤ 0.01) and patients of 50 years or older were more satisfied than the younger ones (p ≤ 0.05). Finally, the following variables explained 31% of the variance of being very satisfied with dental visit: a good OHRQoL and patients' positive perceptions of the relationship with their care provider. Conclusion. This study showed positive associations between dental satisfaction and OHRQoL when controlling for related factors. The result suggests that care providers should take into account the various dimensions of OHRQoL rather than use only clinical measurements when they evaluate patient satisfaction.  相似文献

Our aim was to evaluate the link between diffusion parameters measured by intravoxel incoherent motion (IVIM) diffusion‐weighted imaging (DWI) and the perfusion metrics obtained with dynamic contrast‐enhanced (DCE) MRI in soft tissue tumors (STTs). Twenty‐eight patients affected by histopathologically confirmed STT were included in a prospective study. All patients underwent both DCE MRI and IVIM DWI. The perfusion fraction f, diffusion coefficient D and perfusion‐related diffusion coefficient D* were estimated using a bi‐exponential function to fit the DWI data. DCE MRI was acquired with a temporal resolution of 3–5 s. Maps of the initial area under the gadolinium concentration curve (IAUGC), time to peak (TTP) and maximum slope of increase (MSI) were derived using commercial software. The relationships between the DCE MRI and IVIM DWI measurements were assessed by Spearman's test. To exclude false positive results under multiple testing, the false discovery rate (FDR) procedure was applied. The Mann–Whitney test was used to evaluate the differences between all variables in patients with non‐myxoid and myxoid STT. No significant relationship was found between IVIM parameters and any DCE MRI parameters. Higher f and D*f values were found in non‐myxoid tumors compared with myxoid tumors (p = 0.004 and p = 0.003, respectively). MSI was significantly higher in non‐myxoid tumors than in myxoid tumors (p = 0.029). From the visual assessments of single clinical cases, both f and D*f maps were in satisfactory agreement with DCE maps in the extreme cases of an avascular mass and a highly vascularized mass, whereas, for tumors with slight vascularity or with a highly heterogeneous perfusion pattern, this association was not straightforward. Although IVIM DWI was demonstrated to be feasible in STT, our data did not support evident relationships between perfusion‐related IVIM parameters and perfusion measured by DCE MRI.
