To clarify the significance of cdc25B, which plays an important physiologic role in regulation of the G2/M check point, in progression of gastric cancer, 125 samples of paraffin-embedded gastric cancers were investigated by immunohistochemistry. In addition, 3 human gastric cancer cell lines were studied to determine the cellular localization of cdc25B by immunohistochemistry and cell fractionation followed by Western blotting. In the cell lines cdc25B was found to be present in both nuclei and cytoplasm, but predominantly in nuclei. High labeling indices of cdc25B in invasion front of gastric cancer was observed in 31 out of 125 cases (24.8%), linked to an advanced depth of cancer invasion (P=0.02), high rates of lymphatic invasion (P=0.03), and lymph node metastasis (P<0.01). Furthermore, the Kaplan-Meier method demonstrated a poor prognosis for cdc25B high labeling indices cases (P=0.02), although multivariate analysis revealed it not to be an independent factor. In conclusion, it seems likely that cdc25B is located predominantly in nuclei when overexpressed and this has some linkage with progression of gastric cancer. 相似文献

Background/Aims
Antithrombotic/nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drug (NSAID) therapies increase the incidence of upper gastrointestinal bleeding. The features of hemorrhagic peptic ulcer disease in patients receiving antithrombotic/NSAID therapies were investigated.Methods
We investigated the medical records of 485 consecutive patients who underwent esophagogastroduodenoscopy and were diagnosed with hemorrhagic gastroduodenal ulcers. The patients treated with antithrombotic agents/NSAIDs were categorized as the antithrombotic therapy (AT) group (n=213). The patients who were not treated with antithrombotics/NSAIDs were categorized as the control (C) group (n=263). The clinical characteristics were compared between the groups.Results
The patients in the AT group were significantly older than those in the C group (p<0.0001). The hemoglobin levels before/without transfusion were significantly lower in the AT group (8.24±2.41 g/dL) than in the C group (9.44±2.95 g/dL) (p<0.0001). After adjusting for age, the difference in the hemoglobin levels between the two groups remained significant (p=0.0334). The transfusion rates were significantly higher in the AT group than in the C group (p=0.0002). However, the outcome of endoscopic hemostasis was similar in the AT and C groups.Conclusions

Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) is globally performed to treat early epithelial tumors of the gastrointestinal tract, but delayed perforation is a problematic procedure-related complication. To address this problem, closure of ESD-induced mucosal defects with a detachable snare has been reported. However, one problem is that this method usually requires some degree of skill and replacing a single-channel scope with a two-channel scope. We developed the clip stopper closure (CSC) method using a detachable snare in combination with the ZEOCLIP, which can be easily performed with a single-channel scope, for ESD-induced mucosal defects. Six consecutive cases were treated with this closure method for colonic ESD-induced mucosal defects. The median closure time was 12.5 (10–24) min, and the success rate of this procedure was 100%. Our CSC method was able to be performed in any part of the colon. In conclusion, the CSC method using a detachable snare in combination with the ZEOCLIP is a simple but promising closure technique for ESD-induced mucosal defects. 相似文献
