Amoeboma is a cosmopolitan parasitic tumor. It is often difficult to distinguish it from cancer. We report 3 cases of patients operated for digestive cancer. The final diagnosis was amoeboma of the gallbladder, the caecum and the left colon. In the first case, the patient was operated for a mass in the fourth segment of the liver in contact with the gallbladder. For the two other cases, patients were operated in emergency for a complication (abscess and peritonitis).  相似文献

There is increasing evidence supporting the notion that the contribution of sleep to consolidation of motor skills depends on the nature of the task used in practice. We compared the role of three post-training conditions in the expression of delayed gains on two different motor skill learning tasks: finger tapping sequence learning (FTSL) and visuomotor adaptation (VMA). Subjects in the DaySleep and ImmDaySleep conditions were trained in the morning and at noon, respectively, afforded a 90-min nap early in the afternoon and were re-tested 12 h post-training. In the NightSleep condition, subjects were trained in the evening on either of the two learning paradigms and re-tested 12 h later following sleep, while subjects in the NoSleep condition underwent their training session in the morning and were re-tested 12 h later without any intervening sleep. The results of the FTSL task revealed that post-training sleep (day-time nap or night-time sleep) significantly promoted the expression of delayed gains at 12 h post-training, especially if sleep was afforded immediately after training. In the VMA task, however, there were no significant differences in the gains expressed at 12 h post-training in the three conditions. These findings suggest that “off-line” performance gains reflecting consolidation processes in the FTSL task benefit from sleep, even a short nap, while the simple passage of time is as effective as time in sleep for consolidation of VMA to occur. Tumor growth coincides with an accumulation of myeloid‐derived suppressor cells (MDSCs), which exert immune suppression and which consist of two main subpopulations, known as monocytic (MO) CD11b+CD115+Ly6G?Ly6Chigh MDSCs and granulocytic CD11b+CD115?Ly6G+Ly6Cint polymorphonuclear (PMN)‐MDSCs. However, whether these distinct MDSC subsets hamper all aspects of early CD8+ T‐cell activation — including cytokine production, surface marker expression, survival, and cytotoxicity — is currently unclear. Here, employing an in vitro coculture system, we demonstrate that splenic MDSC subsets suppress antigen‐driven CD8+ T‐cell proliferation, but differ in their dependency on IFN‐γ, STAT‐1, IRF‐1, and NO to do so. Moreover, MO‐MDSC and PMN‐MDSCs diminish IL‐2 levels, but only MO‐MDSCs affect IL‐2Rα (CD25) expression and STAT‐5 signaling. Unexpectedly, however, both MDSC populations stimulate IFN‐γ production by CD8+ T cells on a per cell basis, illustrating that some T‐cell activation characteristics are actually stimulated by MDSCs. Conversely, MO‐MDSCs counteract the activation‐induced change in CD44, CD62L, CD162, and granzyme B expression, while promoting CD69 and Fas upregulation. Together, these effects result in an altered CD8+ T‐cell adhesiveness to the extracellular matrix and selectins, sensitivity to FasL‐mediated apoptosis, and cytotoxicity. Hence, MDSCs intricately influence different CD8+ T‐cell activation events in vitro, whereby some parameters are suppressed while others are stimulated.  相似文献

Myeloid-derived suppressor cells are immature myeloid cells, consisting of a monocytic and a granulocytic fraction, that are known to suppress anti-tumor immune responses. Important targets of the immunosuppressive capacity of MDSC are CD8+ T cells, which are crucial cytotoxic effector cells in immunotherapeutic settings. CD8+ T-cell activation and differentiation comprises a well-orchestrated series of events, starting from early TCR-mediated signaling and leading to cytokine secretion, the expression of activation markers, proliferation and the differentiation into several subsets of effector and memory cells. In this review, we summarize the available data on how the production of reactive oxygen species, nitric oxide, the arginase-mediated depletion of l-arginine and Cystine depletion by MDSCs interfere with the signaling molecules necessary for normal CTL differentiation and activation.  相似文献

Background: Ovarian cancer is the leading cause of gynecologic cancer-related death. Histologicalassessment remains the standard clue for the diagnosis of ovarian carcinoma. Misinterpretation and inconsistentapplication of histological criteria may lead to significant interobserver variability and poor reproducibility ofthe diagnosis. In this study, we investigated the discrepancy in histological diagnosis and the significance of a designedpanel of immunohistochemical markers for the improvement of the diagnostic reproducibility of ovarian carcinomas.Methods: We performed a retrospective study on 74 ovarian carcinomas. All tumor slides were independentlyreviewed by two pathologists. The results for seven available immunomarkers as p53, WT-1, p16INK4A, CK7,CK20, and estrogen and progesterone receptors were determined for all cases by immunohistochemistry. Results:The histological diagnosis review performed using standard histology showed a concordance of diagnoses in 86% ofcases with Cohen’s kappa of 0.80. Immunohistochemical results increased significantly the diagnosis reproducibilitywith a concordance of 91% and a Cohen’s kappa of 0.86 (P = 0.001). Conclusion: Although the histological diagnosisremains reliable, the use of a designed panel of immunohistochemical markers improves significantly the interobserverconcordance and the classification accuracy of ovarian carcinomas.  相似文献

Human telomeres, which consist of repeated TTAGGG sequences, have recently become the focus of intense and highly competitive biological research. This scientific interest lies in their unique biological functions: telomeres are essential for genome integrity and appear to play an important role in cellular aging and cancer. As telomerase appears to be selectively expressed in tumors versus normal cells, this enzyme represents a good target for inhibition. Different types of telomerase inhibitors have recently been described. We will present briefly the different strategies that have been proposed to achieve efficient telomerase inhibition, with a special emphasis on G-quartet ligands.  相似文献

In this paper, we assessed the ability of two strains of Saccharomyces cerevisiae, in viable and dead forms, to remove ochratoxin A (OTA) from an artificially contaminated synthetic grape juice medium (SGM) (10 µg OTA/L) and a naturally contaminated grape juice (6.64 µg OTA/L). The first strain, named Levulin FB, is a commercial yeast used in making wine. The second, named SC5, is an autochthonous strain isolated from table grapes. OTA concentrations in juices before and after their contact with yeast cells were assessed. A significant decrease in OTA level (p < 0.05) in the SGM medium and in the natural grape juice was observed after 1 h of adding yeast cells (20 g/L) in viable and heat-treated forms. It was inferred that the dead forms of the two strains were more able to eliminate OTA than their viable forms in both media. This study demonstrates the potential application of an autochthonous yeast for the natural decontamination of grape juice from fungal toxins.  相似文献
