In the present study, the n-SnO2/p-CuFe2O4 (p-CFO) complex was prepared by a two-step process. p-CFO synthesized by the molten salt method was coated with SnO2 synthesized by a facile in situ chemical precipitation method. The formation of n-SnO2/p-CFO was confirmed by powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD). Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images showed that the sharp edges of uncoated pyramid-like p-CFO particles were covered by a thick layer of n-SnO2 on coated p-CFO particles. The complete absence of Cu and only 3 wt% Fe on the surface of the n–p complex observed in the elemental analysis using energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) on the n–p complex confirmed the presence of a thick layer of SnO2 on the p-CFO surface. Diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS) was employed to elucidate the bandgap engineering. The n-SnO2/p-CFO complex and p-CFO showed 87% and 58.7% methylene blue (MB) degradation in 120 min under sunlight, respectively. The efficiency of the n–p complex recovered after 5 cycles (73.5%) and was found to be higher than that of the uncoated p-CFO (58.7%). The magnetically separable property of the n–p complex was evaluated by using vibration sample magnetometry (VSM) measurements and it was confirmed that the prepared photocatalyst can be easily recovered using an external magnet. Doublecortin like kinase 1 (DCLK1) plays a crucial role in several cancers including colon and pancreatic adenocarcinomas. However, its role in squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) remains unknown. To this end, we examined DCLK1 expression in head and neck SCC (HNSCC) and anal SCC (ASCC). We found that DCLK1 is elevated in patient SCC tissue, which correlated with cancer progression and poorer overall survival. Furthermore, DCLK1 expression is significantly elevated in human papilloma virus negative HNSCC, which are typically aggressive with poor responses to therapy. To understand the role of DCLK1 in tumorigenesis, we used specific shRNA to suppress DCLK1 expression. This significantly reduced tumor growth, spheroid formation, and migration of HNSCC cancer cells. To further the translational relevance of our studies, we sought to identify a selective DCLK1 inhibitor. Current attempts to target DCLK1 using pharmacologic approaches have relied on nonspecific suppression of DCLK1 kinase activity. Here, we demonstrate that DiFiD (3,5-bis [2,4-difluorobenzylidene]−4-piperidone) binds to DCLK1 with high selectivity. Moreover, DiFiD mediated suppression of DCLK1 led to G2/M arrest and apoptosis and significantly suppressed tumor growth of HNSCC xenografts and ASCC patient derived xenografts, supporting that DCLK1 is critical for SCC growth. 相似文献

Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease that affects both localized and systemic regions of the body. This condition is characterized by the hyperproliferation of keratinocytes, resulting in skin thickening, scaling, and erythema. The severity of psoriasis depends on the extent of skin involvement, the location of the infection, and the symptoms that the person exhibits. While no cure exists, conventional therapies such as topical and systemic drugs are generally used to manage the exacerbation of symptoms. However, chronic use and overdose can lead to other severe adverse effects. Therefore, scientists and researchers are exploring potential nutraceuticals that can be considered as an alternative source of management for psoriasis. Current research aims to use different combinations of natural compounds like cannabidiol, myo-inositol, eicosapentaenoic acid, and krill oil to study the effect of these compounds in the prevention and treatment of psoriasis in the imiquimod (IMQ)-induced psoriatic mice model. The Psoriasis Area Severity Index (PASI) scoring system is used to analyze skin thickness, scales, and erythema. The results indicate that the krill oil combined with the cannabidiol and myo-inositol shows better results than other nutraceutical combinations. In the future, the natural products of krill oil can be combined with cannabidiol and myo-inositol to create an improved alternative to existing steroidal and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs for psoriasis treatment. 相似文献
