Possibilities of using the peroxidase-antiperoxidase method for phenotyping cells in bone marrow and blood smears

This method (PAP method) may be used for determining the cellular immunologic phenotype in bone marrow and blood smears, of the blast elements in hemoblastosis patients among other things. The panels of monoclonal antibodies for the PAP method should be selected by their preliminary testing in the PAP method and in immunofluorescence test. PAP method with monoclonal antibodies may be used in both hematologic and cytologic laboratories for determining the histogenetic appurtenance of the cells in dubious diagnostic cases.     

A clinical case. A case of bilateral retinal detachment after scleroplasty

After prophylactic scleroplasty for high complicated myopia the patient developed bilateral detachment of the retina. Therapeutic strategy with this patient is followed up. The described clinical case evidences the necessity of a strict validation of the choice of this or that surgical modality, particularly in cases when it concerns the only eye with vision.     

The use of new scleroplastic materials in the surgery of traumatic retinal detachment]

New textile-based material is suggested for scleroplastic surgery for detachment of the retina. Features of the design of the new material are described and the efficacy of the implants assessed. Textile-based implants are recommended for clinical practice.     

迷迭香酸抗血栓和抗血小板聚集作用

迷迭香酸是丹参水溶性成分之一。大鼠体内实验(iv)表明,它能抑制静脉血栓形成。阻抑胶原诱导的血小板聚集,促进纤维蛋白溶解活性。当剂量为50及100 mg/kg时,血栓形成的抑制率分别为41.9和54.8%(P<0.vv05)。当剂量为100及150mg/kg时,血小板聚集的抑制率分别为30.4%(P<0.05)和46.4%(P<0.01),血浆优球蛋白溶解时间缩短(P<0.05)。纤维蛋白原含量无明显变化。以上结果说明,迷迭香酸有温和的抗血栓作用。其机理可能与抗血小板聚集和增强纤维蛋白溶解活性有关。     

"Covert toxocariasis" in a child treated with low-dose diethylcarbamazine

A girl aged 2.5 years with "covert toxocariasis" was treated with low-dose diethylcarbamazine because of supposed noticeable disseminated Toxocara canis infection without ocular or visceral manifestations. There was marked blood and bone marrow eosinophilia, significant increased Toxocara canis antibody (ELISA) and immunoglobulins E, G and M, leucocytosis and an increased sedimentation rate. She had no geophagia, but often sucked small stones, probably contaminated with faeces from puppies. Symptoms were fever, inactivity, weakness, tiredness and loss of appetite. She was followed clinically and with blood samples throughout a period of three years and four months.     

A multi-chamber model of quartz dust kinetics in the pulmonary region during chronic inhalation exposure in rats

The contributors propose a multichamber model for the assessment of dust particles' concentration, elimination and translocation in deep pulmonary zones. The choice of the model structure is dominated by the following criteria: that dust penetration into the interstitial pulmonary tissues and its translocation to the lymph nodes can be performed by non-phagocytized particle only; that these processes depend on the degree of dust-induced lesions in the macrophages and the growth of compensating neutrophilic phagocytosis; that part of the penetrating particles would continuously return to the free surface of the pulmonary zone together with the mobilized interstitial lung macrophages. The model adequately corresponds to the experimental data obtained in prolonged inhalation experiments, and imitates the kinetic effects related to severe damages and protection of the pulmonary clearance macrophage mechanisms.
