Indomethacin (IND) suppresses the T-dependent antibody response (TDAR) in juvenile males when it is administered to pregnant rats during late gestation. In this study, the effect of IND on cytokine production in juvenile rats was examined to investigate the mechanism behind the suppression of antibody production. IND was orally administered to pregnant SD rats on days 18–21 of gestation. After parturition, the spleen cells isolated from 3-week-old pups were incubated with concanavalin A (Con A) or lipopolysaccharide (LPS). The level of cytokines in the culture supernatant was measured. IL-10 decreased significantly in the males, and IL-6 and TNF-α tended to decrease in both sexes.  相似文献

Abstract: The effect of cyanoacrylate tissue adhesive (C. A.) on the gastric mucosa of dogs was investigated endoscopically and histopathologically. When C. A. was applied to the surface of the gastric mucosa, the endoscopic findings the next day showed local redness at the applied site (Fig. 1-a) and histopathology revealed degenerative changes in the gastric mucosa (Fig. 1-b). When C. A. was endoscopically injected into the gastric mucosa, the endoscopic findings revealed a submucosal tumor-like lesion (Fig. 2-a). One day after treatment, the endoscopic findings showed a hemorrhagic erosion on the surface of the lesion (Fig. 2-b). An histopathological examination of the resected stomach revealed C. A. in the submucosal layer (Fig. 3-a, 3-b) and the lymph duct around the muscularis mucosa with severe acute inflammation (Fig. 4-a, 4-b). One week after treatment, a deep ulcer (Ul-IV) was observed (Fig. 5, 6) and a histopathological examination of the resected specimen revealed C. A. at the site of the ulcer and inflammatory cell infiltration by fibroblasts and giant cells (Fig. 7-a, 7-b). One month after treatment, the ulcer had healed and was replaced by a scar (Fig. 8). Histopathological examination of the resected stomach revealed C. A. in both the muscularis mucosa and the submucosa and also inflammatory cell infiltration by giant cells in addition to the fibrosis (Fig. 9). When using endoscopic sclerotherapy with C. A., it should be kept in mind that there is the possibility of such a lesion occurring as demonstrated by our study.  相似文献

We present here a clinical case of Klinefelter's syndrome with various psychiatric symptoms. A 60-year-old male showed delusions of persecution, poisoning, and reference, auditory, visual and somatic hallucinations, depressive state and memory disturbance. These clinical symptoms except for memory disturbance were the characteristic clinical features of psychiatric symptoms in some cases of Klinefelter's syndrome reported so far. There has been no reported case of Klinefelter's syndrome showing memory disturbance. The memory disturbance of the present case is regarded as an amnestic organic brain syndrome (DSM-III) due to Klinefelter's syndrome.  相似文献

The bone scintigrams of 4 cases with metastatic calcification in the lung, stomach and myocardium were presented. These four cases were malignancy with hypercalcemia. Metastatic calcifications were not able to be detected by radiographs and CT. Therefore, bone scan seems to be the most useful method for detection of metastatic calcification.  相似文献

A patient previously treated for Hodgkin's disease (HD) developed secondary adult T cell leukaemia/lymphoma (ATL) after blood transfusion.

Immunohistochemical analysis and polymerase chain reaction support the diagnosis. To the best of our knowledge this is the first occurrence of transfusion induced ATL occurring as a second malignancy after treatment for HD. The leukaemia/lymphoma probably developed on the basis of underlying immunosuppression.  相似文献

Ga-67 scintigrams in patients with malignant diseases sometimes reveal uptake of the tracer in the bone metastases. Detectability of Ga-67 scintigraphy for metastatic bone tumors and benign bone lesions was compared with that of Tc-99m bone scintigraphy. Countable bone metastases detected by bone scintigraphy were evaluated whether the lesion showed apparent, faint, or negative Ga-67 uptake. Of 47 lesions 23 (49%) showed apparent uptake and 17 (36%) showed negative uptake. On the other hand, of 71 benign bone lesions, only 7 (10%), mostly fracture/osteotomy, showed apparent uptake of the tracer. Uptake in the other benign lesions such as trauma of the ribs, spondylosis deformans, and arthrosis deformans was rather faint. In patients with multiple bone metastases, 9 patients (82%) out of 11 showed more prominent abnormal findings in Tc-99m MDP bone scintigraphy than in Ga-67 scintigraphy; that is, Ga-67 scintigraphy was not able to reveal all metastatic bone lesions. In patients with untreated or recurrent tumors, relation between Ga-67 uptake in the tumors and that in the bone metastases was evaluated. Of 7 patients with negative Ga-67 uptake in the primary tumors, 5 showed positive Ga-67 uptake in the bone metastases; that is, there seemed to be little relation between Ga-67 affinity to the primary tumors and that to the bone metastases. Mechanisms of the Ga-67 uptake in the bone metastases were discussed. Not only the tumor cells or tissues in the bone metastases but also bone mineral or osteoclasts might be the deposition sites of Ga-67.  相似文献

The liver is an organ consisting of the largest reticulo-endothelial cell network in the body and playing an important role in host defense against invading microorganisms. The organ is comprised of parenchymal cells and many different types of non-parenchymal cells, all of which play a significant role. Even biliary epithelial cells are not only the target in autoimmune liver diseases but also have central role in orchestrating several immune cells involved in both innate and acquired immunity. Tissue damage caused by various agents results in inflammation, necrosis, fibrosis, and, eventually, distortion of normal hepatic architecture, cirrhosis, and functional deterioration.  相似文献

Although the pathophysiology of acute pancreatitis appears to be greatly influenced by the production of ascites, little is known about the mechanism. To investigate the effects of pancreatitis-associated ascitic fluid (PAAF) on macrophage function, we examined the effects of PAAF obtained from a rat model of severe acute pancreatitis on the ability of peritoneal macrophages to produce tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha). In addition, we compared the responses of PAAF-treated and PAAF-untreated macrophages to lipopolysaccharide (LPS) by evaluating their TNF-alpha production and nuclear factor-kappaB (NFkappaB) activation. Incubation of peritoneal macrophages with the PAAF led to the rapid and prolonged activation of NF-kappaB and to TNF-alpha production. Pyrrolidine dithiocarbamate, a potent inhibitor of NF-kappaB activation, attenuated the macrophage TNF-alpha production by PAAF. Macrophages produced TNF-alpha in response to LPS, but the cytokine production was significantly reduced when macrophages were pretreated with PAAF. The suppression of TNF-alpha production by PAAF pretreatment accompanied the impairment of NF-kappaB activation in response to LPS. These results indicate that the PAAF of severe acute pancreatitis may play important roles in the pathologic course of this disease through its effects on macrophage function.  相似文献
