Fractional photothermolysis (FP) has been recently introduced as a new concept in dermatologic laser medicine. FP employs an array of small laser beams to create many microscopic areas of thermal necrosis within the skin called microscopic treatment zones (MTZ). Even though FP completely destroys the epidermis and dermis within these MTZ, the 3-dimensional pattern of damage heals quickly and with few side effects. FP is currently used to treat fine wrinkles, photodamaged skin, acne scars, and melasma. Due to its clinical efficacy and limited side effects FP has established itself in the past two years as an alternative treatment modality to the conventional ablative and non ablative laser therapy.  相似文献

Recently, we described B-cell precursor acute lymphoblastic leukemia (BCP-ALL) subtype with an early switch to the monocytic lineage and the loss of the B-cell immunophenotype, including CD19 expression. Thus far, the genetic background has remained unknown. Among 726 children consecutively diagnosed with BCP-ALL, 8% patients experienced a switch detectable by flow cytometry (FC). Using exome and RNA sequencing, the switch was found to positively correlate with three different genetic subtypes: PAX5-P80R mutation (five cases with switch of five), rearranged (DUX4r) (30 cases of 41) and rearranged (ZNF384r) (four cases of ten). Expression profiles or phenotypic patterns correlated with genotypes, but within each genotype no cases who subsequently switched could be indentified. If switching was not taken into account, the B-cell-oriented FC assessment underestimated the minimal residual disease level. For patients with PAX5-P80R, a discordance between FC-determined and polymerase chain reactiondetermined minimal residual disease was found on day 15, resulting from a rapid loss of the B-cell phenotype. Discordance on day 33 was observed in all the DUX4r, PAX5-P80R and ZNF384r subtypes. Importantly, despite the substantial phenotypic changes, possibly even challenging the appropriateness of BCP-ALL therapy, the monocytic switch was not associated with a higher incidence of relapse and poorer prognosis in patients undergoing standard ALL treatment.  相似文献

ObjectiveWe aimed to assess the relationship between major air pollutants and the natural history and mortality of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF).MethodsWe conducted a retrospective cohort study from 2013 to 2019 among 52 patients with IPF from the pneumology department of a tertiary hospital. According to their geocoded residential address, each patient was assigned a mean concentration of carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen dioxide, particulate matter 2.5 and 10, ozone, and sulfur dioxide, as measured at a single surveillance station in central Madrid, Spain. We analyzed forced vital capacity (FVC), CO diffusing capacity, 6-minute walking test, degree of dyspnea, radiologic pattern, and signs of pulmonary hypertension in all patients.ResultsPatients’ mean age was 66 ± 10 years, and 79% were men. The mean predicted FVC was 78.9 ± 0.5%. Forty-two patients met the criteria for severe disease, and 18 patients died. Mortality was significantly associated with increased CO exposure (for each 0.1 mg/m2 increase: odds ratio 2.45, 95% confidence interval 1.39–4.56). We observed no association between any of the other investigated contaminants and IPF mortality or severity.ConclusionsAir pollution, specifically that caused by carbon monoxide, can increase mortality in patients with IPF.  相似文献

ArtinM and Jacalin (JAC) are lectins from the jackfruit (Artocarpus integrifolia) that have important role in modulation of immune responses to pathogens. Neospora caninum is an Apicomplexa parasite that causes neuromuscular disease in dogs and reproductive disorders in cattle, with economic impact on the livestock industry. Hence, we evaluated the adjuvant effect of ArtinM and JAC in immunization of mice against neosporosis. Six C57BL/6 mouse groups were subcutaneously immunized three times at 2-week intervals with Neospora lysate antigen (NLA) associated with lectins (NLA + ArtinM and NLA + JAC), NLA, ArtinM and JAC alone, and PBS (infection control). Animals were challenged with lethal dose of Nc-1 isolate and evaluated for morbidity, mortality, specific antibody response, cytokine production by spleen cells, brain parasite burden and inflammation. Our results demonstrated that ArtinM was able to increase NLA immunogenicity, inducing the highest levels of specific total IgG and IgG2a/IgG1 ratio, ex vivo Th1 cytokine production, increased survival, the lowest brain parasite burden, along with the highest inflammation scores. In contrast, NLA + JAC immunized group showed intermediate survival, the highest brain parasite burden and the lowest inflammation scores. In conclusion, ArtinM presents stronger immunostimulatory and adjuvant effect than Jacalin in immunization of mice against neosporosis, by inducing a protective Th1-biased pro-inflammatory immune response and higher protection after parasite challenge.  相似文献
