Epidemiologic and Genomic Analysis of SARS-CoV-2 Delta Variant Superspreading Event in Nightclub,the Netherlands,June 2021

We report a severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 superspreading event in the Netherlands after distancing rules were lifted in nightclubs, despite requiring a negative test or vaccination. This occurrence illustrates the potential for rapid dissemination of variants in largely unvaccinated populations under such conditions. We detected subsequent community transmission of this strain.     

Peripancreatic Fat Invasion Is an Independent Predictor of Poor Outcome Following Pancreaticoduodenectomy for Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma

Background  

Following pancreaticoduodenectomy for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), identification of peripancreatic fat tumor invasion promotes a tumor to stage T3. We sought to understand better the impact of histological peripancreatic fat invasion on prognosis and site of recurrence in a cohort of patients with PDAC.

Pituitary adenomas represent 10 to 20% of all primary brain tumours. The main classifications consider their size, micro- and macroadenomas, and their properties, secreting or non-functioning. These characteristics determine the choice of treatment, surgery and medical therapy on first line in many cases. Conventional radiotherapy, whose efficiency has been demonstrated, is indicated in the post-operative setting for lesions at high risk of relapse, recurrences, contra-indications to surgery and intolerance or resistance to medical therapies. Optimal target volume delineation is critical, owing to the proximity of organs at risk and a risk of late toxicity for these patients who have normal life expectancy. Technological, computering and imaging advances have led to conformal radiotherapy, intensity-modulated treatment and stereotaxy. These new techniques are reviewed through a recent literature search. Local control rates are high, although follow-up is still short. Indications for radiosurgery are restricted by the size of the lesions. Fractionated stereotactic radiotherapy potentially reduces late toxicity, but longer follow-up is necessary.     

Assessing Children's Mealtime Problems With the Mealtime Behavior Questionnaire

A caregiver questionnaire that assesses mealtime problems in children aged 2 to 6 years old was developed. Community caregivers (n = 712) completed the Mealtime Behavior Questionnaire (MBQ) and measures of child behavior and family mealtime behaviors and environment. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses revealed and validated the MBQ's 4 subscales (food refusal/avoidance; food manipulation; mealtime aggression/distress; and choking/, gagging/vomiting). Mealtime problems occurred from “sometimes” to “always” for 1% to 61% of the sample. The MBQ demonstrated excellent to fair internal consistencies, and preliminary evidence for validity was found.
