Interfering with extracellular matrix degradation to blunt inflammation

Chemoattractant properties of matrix proteins, like collagen and elastin, for neutrophils and monocytes in vitro have long been recognized. This activity often resides in fragments of these proteins. These peptides may play a role in diseases of the lung matrix, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Recent advances include the elucidation of the structure of chemotactic collagen fragments and the demonstration that their activity may reside in a structural relatedness to CXC chemokines. Collagen and elastin fragments have been demonstrated to have a role in in vivo lung pathophysiology and have been quantified in patients with chronic lung diseases where they may activate autoimmune pathways. Elucidation of these pathways may provide novel biomarkers and therapeutic targets for chronic lung diseases.     

Effect of satisfaction with one's abilities on positive and negative affect among individuals with recently diagnosed rheumatioid arthritis

Objective. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect that self-evaluation processes have on psychologic well-being among individuals with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Methods. The study used a longitudinal research design with 4 data collection points. Participants were 227 adults with recently diagnosed RA. Data were collected via mailed questionnaire and telephone interview. Two dimensions of psychologic well-being were assessed—positive affect and negative affect. Results. We found that, among participants who viewed the abilities being evaluated as very important, greater satisfaction at time 1 was associated with less negative affect at time 2 and time 4. Satisfaction was not associated with positive affect at any of the time points, however. Conclusion. Study findings indicate that dissatisfaction with illness-related abilities can exacerbate psychologic distress. The findings also highlight the need for research examining the role that positive affect plays in adaptation to RA.     

取代四氢异喹啉衍生物的合成及其生物活性

粉防己碱有钙拮抗作用,临床试用于治疗高血压,其裂解产物钙拮抗作用降低,但有α-肾上腺素能受体拮抗作用,本文以裂解物为先导化合物设计合成了两类取代的四氢异喹啉衍生物Ⅲ及Ⅳ。初步药理试验表明:大部分化合物有α-肾上腺素能受体拮抗作用,少数化合物钙拮抗活性有所增强,其中Ⅲ_15,19对正常麻醉大鼠有一定的降压作用、Ⅳ_17,19对实验性动物心律失常有明显的保护作用。部分化合物量化计算表明:化合物与α₁-受体作用方式可能是形成电荷转移复合物。     

苦楝化学成份的研究

从苦楝(Melia azedarach L.)果中分得苦楝新醇(Ⅰ),苦楝醇(Ⅱ)、苦楝酮(Ⅲ)、苦楝二醇(Ⅳ)、香草醛(Ⅴ)和香草酸(Ⅵ)。根据波谱(IR,MS,~1HNMR,~(13)CNMR)分析和理化常数测定,确定了它们的结构。其中苦楝新醇(Ⅰ)为新化合物,对菜青小虫有一定的拒食活性。     

薄层扫描法测定梅花点舌丸中华蟾蜍毒基含量

目的：提供合适的方法,以控制梅花点舌丸的含量。方法：双波长薄层扫描法测定梅花点舌丸中华蟾蜍毒基的含量。λs=295nm,λn=370nm。在1。200－6．020μg范围内呈良好的线性（r=0.9978),同板和异板精密度试验的RSD值分别为0．092％主2．79％（n=5)。结果：平均加样回收率和RSD值分别为99．2％和1．14％（n=6),结论：本法简单、准确、可作为梅花点舌丸的质量控制方法。     

促红细胞生成素对实验性肾性贫血的作用

促红细胞生成素(erythropoietin,EPO)是由肾细胞分泌的一种糖蛋白激素。从人胚肾细胞中诱导,经生物化学方法分离、提纯得到此品。本试验用5/6肾切除的方法造成大鼠慢性肾衰性(CRF)贫血,研究不同剂量EPO对CRF贫血的作用。结果表明EPO有显著的促进红细胞生成,改善CRF贫血状态,使其接近或达到正常水平,最佳剂量为1000 U/kg,并可预防实验性贫血,对正常鼠未见明显作用。
