Objective: The present study examined whether early signs of maternal sensitivity can be detected during pregnancy by focusing on the maternal–fetal relationship and postnatal maternal sensitivity. Background: Earlier research has identified maternal sensitive behaviour as an important factor for the quality of the mother–infant relationship and the child’s emotional and cognitive development later in life. Research on this topic has predominantly focused on the postnatal period and little is known about early predictors (i.e. during pregnancy) of maternal sensitivity. Methods: Participants were 273 women and their (unborn) infants. Mothers’ attitudes, thoughts and feelings towards the fetus were assessed by the Maternal Antenatal Attachment Scale at 26 weeks of gestation. At the infant’s age of 6 months, maternal sensitivity was assessed in three different situations (i.e. face-to-face play, caregiving and free play) using the NICHD global rating scales. Results: Mothers with a higher quality of the maternal–fetal relationship displayed more maternal sensitivity towards their 6-month-old infant in caregiving and free play situations, even when controlling for covariates such as parity, ethnicity, maternal education, maternal age and the postnatal mother–infant relationship. No associations were found in the face-to-face situation. Conclusion: This study shows that mothers who reported a higher quality of the maternal–fetal relationship were more sensitive while interacting with their infants during caregiving and free play, but not during face-to-face play.  相似文献

The effects of D1/5 dopamine agonists on spontaneous excitatory postsynaptic currents (sEPSCs) were studied in neurons of the rat globus pallidus using whole-cell recordings in the presence of TTX and bicuculline. In this condition, CNQX abolished the sEPSCs, indicating that they were solely mediated by AMPA receptors. SKF 38393, a D1-like agonist, increased the frequency but not the amplitude of the sEPSCs, suggesting a presynaptic site of action. The increase in frequency was blocked by SCH 23390, a D1/5 antagonist. Quinpirole, a D2-like agonist, decreased the frequency but did not affect the amplitude of the synaptic currents. SKF 38393 increased the frequency of sEPSCs currents, even in presence of quinpirole, indicating that D1/5- and D2-like receptors independently modulate glutamate release upon a single neuron. The results suggest that the dopaminergic control of the glutamate transmission in the globus pallidus may play a role in processing cortical information in the indirect pathway of the basal ganglia.  相似文献

A large outbreak with an aminoglycoside-resistant Enterobacter cloacae (AREC) clone occurred at the University Medical Center Utrecht beginning in 2001 and continued up through the time that this study was completed. This clone (genotype I) contains a conjugative R plasmid carrying the qnrA1, bla(CTX-M-9), and aadB genes, encoding resistance to quinolones, extended-spectrum beta-lactamases, and aminoglycosides, respectively. The aim of this study was to determine whether this clone was more transmissible than other AREC strains. Therefore, the dissemination of this genotype and of other E. cloacae strains was studied. In addition, infection control measures taken were evaluated. Pulsed-field gel electrophoresis analysis divided the 191 AREC strains into 42 different genotypes, of which 5 (12%) involved at least three patients. Aside from this outbreak (133 patients), only two other small outbreaks occurred, showing that the infection control measures were successful for all strains but one. Among 324 aminoglycoside-susceptible E. cloacae strains, 34/166 (20%) genotypes were identified from at least three patients, but only 4 involved small outbreaks. The outbreak strain was also detected in 11 of 15 other Dutch hospitals and caused outbreaks in at least 4. Evaluation of infection control measures showed that the outbreak strain disseminated throughout the hospital despite adequate implementation of internationally accepted guidelines on the control of multidrug-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (MRE). In conclusion, some MRE strains are better able to spread than others, and these strains may not be controlled by the current infection control guidelines. Strategies to identify such strains in an early phase and adapted guidelines for such "superbugs" are needed to prevent these clones from becoming endemic.  相似文献

Previously we reported on strong linkage disequilibrium (LD) between the mono-S-C4B-RCCX module (mono-S) and the TNF2 allele (both known constituents of the 8.1 ancestral haplotype (8.1 AH)) in two Caucasian populations. The gene for the receptor of advanced glycation endproducts (RAGE) is encoded between the RCCX module and the HLA class II genes in the central MHC region. In order to assess the relationship between the promoter polymorphisms of the RAGE gene and the 8.1 AH, we performed a family study in eight informative families affected with type 1 diabetes mellitus; haplotypes of a RAGE promoter SNP (-429T>C) with the HLA-DQ2, -DR-3(17) and TNF2 alleles, as well as the mono-S genotype were determined. A similar analysis was performed in 82 unrelated patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus, and in unrelated healthy individuals of three different Caucasian populations (Hungarians, Ohioian females, Icelandics). In the diabetic patients clinical correlations were also investigated. Out of the 32 paternal and maternal chromosome 6 from the eight families, 15 different MHC haplotypes were found. Haplotypes containing at least three of the known constituents of the 8.1 AH (HLA-DQ2, -DR17, mono-S, TNF2) were always linked to the RAGE -429C allele. The RAGE -429C allele exhibited highly significant (p<0.0001) LD coefficients to known constituents of the 8.1 AH both in healthy persons and patients with type 1 diabetes. In the group of patients with diabetes we found significantly (p=0.013) higher maximal hemoglobinA1C concentration in the carriers of the RAGE -429C allele, this trait, however was not linked to the 8.1 AH. Our present findings indicate that the RAGE -429C allele can be considered as a candidate member of the 8.1 AH. The results also reveal a spectrum of recombinant MHC haplotypes in addition to the conserved ancestral haplotypes.  相似文献

OBJECTIVES: To investigate the genotypic resistance of integron-carrying Salmonella Typhimurium isolates from horses and their genetic relationship. METHODS: Sixty-one Salmonella isolates were screened for the presence of class 1 integrons by PCR. The gene cassettes of integron-positive isolates were detected by PCR, restriction fragment length polymorphism typing, and sequencing. The potential for the transfer of resistance determinants was investigated by conjugation experiments. The presence of Salmonella genomic island 1 (SGI1) or its variants was studied by PCR and nucleotide sequencing. PFGE was used to genotype the isolates. RESULTS: Eight distinct XbaI-PFGE profiles and seven integron types were observed among 26 integron-carrying Salmonella Typhimurium isolates. The gene cassettes detected were dfrA1, dfrA7, dfrA14, aadA1, aadA2, aadB and bla(PSE). A rare type of integron found in nine isolates carried the dfrA14 and aadA1 gene cassettes. Twelve Salmonella Typhimurium DT104 isolates contained SGI1 or one of its variants (SGI1, SGI1-B and SGI1-C). A novel variant of SGI1, designated SGI1-M, was identified in one isolate in which the aadA2 gene of SGI1 was replaced by the aadB gene. Transfer of integrons and antimicrobial resistance determinants to Escherichia coli K12 via conjugation was possible with nine isolates. Resistance to fluoroquinolones in nine isolates was caused by mutations in the gyrA gene leading to the amino acid changes Ser-83 --> Ala and Asp-87 --> Asn. CONCLUSIONS: The integron-positive clinical Salmonella Typhimurium isolates from horses belong to distinct strains. The data demonstrate the capability of Salmonella Typhimurium to acquire additional antibiotic resistance determinants and underline the need for the prudent use of antimicrobials.  相似文献

PURPOSE: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of previous dental substrate treatments on the bond strength of two self-etching adhesives. MATERIALS AND METHODS: One hundred bovine incisors were sectioned at the cementoenamel junction. The labial tooth surface was ground to obtain flat superficial dentin. Teeth were randomly divided into two groups (n = 50): Clearfil Protect Bond and One Up Bond F. The specimens of each group were subdivided into five groups, according the dental substrate treatment, and then the adhesive system was applied as follows (n = 10): C: control, without previous treatment; TA: 37% phosphoric acid etching on enamel and dentin for 15 s; PA: 37% phosphoric acid etching only on enamel for 15 s; SB: Al2O3 sandblasting on dental surface; EDTA: enamel and dentin conditioning with 24% EDTA gel, pH 7.0. Resin composite blocks were fixed to the dental surfaces with dual-polymerized resin cement. Samples were sectioned in the mesiodistal direction and were trimmed to reduce the cross-sectional area to approximately 1.2 mm2. They were tested at a crosshead speed of 0.5 mm/min on a testing machine. Microtensile bond strength values from enamel, superficial dentin, and deep dentin were compared. Mean microtensile bond strength values were expressed in MPa and were analyzed by two-way ANOVA (2 x 3 x 5) and Tukey's tests. RESULTS: A significant difference was observed for interaction (p = 0.00001) among the factors. The highest mean bond strength to enamel was found with previous phosphoric acid etching, and to dentin when EDTA was previously applied. CONCLUSION: The most indicated previous treatment for increasing the bond strength to enamel and dentin simultaneously is EDTA for both self-etching adhesive systems used.  相似文献
