From these, we present the history and current status of the genomic analysis of Candida albicans. The effect of ACTH and/or adrenalectomy on serotonin (5-HT)2 receptor binding sites was evaluated in the neocortex of rat forebrain. One day after the adrenalectomy or sham operation, ACTH (50 µg/day) was injected subcutaneously into adult male SD rats for 10 consecutive days. Saturation analysis showed that subchronic ACTH treatment significantly increased the Bmax values for3H-ketanserin binding without any change in the Kd values. Moreover, this ACTH-induced increase in the Bmax values was prevented by adrenalectomy. The concentrations of 5-HT and 5-hydroxyindole acetic acid (5-HIAA) measured by HPLC-ECD were not altered by these manipulations. Ten-day administration of corticosterone (20 and 50 mg/kg) also increased 5-HT2 receptor density in the neocortex of rat forebrain. 5-HT2 (and 5-HT1C) receptor agonist, (±)DOI-induced wet-dog shakes in ACTH and/or adrenalectomy-treated rats were also examined. Ten-day administration of ACTH enhanced (±)DOI-induced wet-dog shakes and this increase was prevented by adrenalectomy. These results indicate that subchronic adrenocorticotropinadrenal axis activation of rats increases both the number of 5-HT2 receptors in neocortex of forebrain and the wet-dog shake responses induced by (±)DOI. 相似文献

Abstract Substance P is a neuropeptide which is present in peripheral C nerve endings and released from them. Free nerve endings of C nerve are present in human epidermis. The effects of substance P on the transmembrane signaling system of pig epidermal sheets were previously reported. In these studies, a small amount of cells other than keratinocytes contaminated the epidermal sheets and the species difference from human was also noticed. Therefore we investigated the effects of substance P on cultured normal human epidermal keratinocytes. Alteration of intracellular free calcium (Ca2+) in single living keratinocytes was studied using an inverted fluorescence microscope and Ca2+ -sensitive dye, Fura 2-AM. Treatment of normal human epidermal kertinocytes with substance P resulted in an increase in inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate and in intracellular Ca2+. Substance P inhibited DNA synthesis of the keratinocytes in a dose-dependent manner. These results are consistent with the view that substance P stimulates phosphatidylinositol-4,5-bisphosphate hydrolysis of human keratinocytes, resulting in inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate-Ca2+ signal. 相似文献

To verify validity of a newly developed ultraminiature EMG measurement system (BMS), the ability of BMS to record masseteric EMG was compared with that of a conventional polygraph system (PG) in the daytime. Effective distance between the transmitter unit and receiver unit of BMS was also examined. Subjects were 12 healthy volunteers. During tapping, maximum clenching, and gum chewing of all subjects, distinct bursts were observed in EMG recorded by BMS as well as PG. RMS values of maximum clenching measured by BMS and PG showed a linear and significant correlation, and there was no significant difference between the data of BMS and PG. When distance between the transmitter unit and receiver unit of BMS was 100 cm or less, no artifact signal was observed. Having obtained these findings suggesting ability for precise measurement in the daytime, we are planning to use BMS in home sleep studies in the next step. 相似文献

OBJECTIVE: To clarify the position of on-pump beating coronary artery bypass (CAB) and to define preoperative indicators of intentional conversion to the procedure in the era of advancement of off-pump CAB (OPCAB), we assessed on-pump beating CAB performed after the introduction of OPCAB. SUBJECTS AND METHODS: We assessed 130 patients who underwent single CAB [117 (90%) with OPCAB and 13 (10%) with on-pump beating CAB] between August 1999 (when OPCAB was selected as the first-line surgical procedure) and December 2004. RESULTS: No significant differences were seen between the groups in the number of coronary lesions or the prevalence of left main trunk (LMT) lesion. Reduced left cardiac function, cardiac dilatation, and mitral regurgitation (MR) were more remarkable in the on-pump beating CAB group. Preoperative ischemic condition was generally unstable in the both groups. A conversion to on-pump beating CAB occurred at anastomosis for the left anterior descending (LAD) branch in 61% and for the left circumflex (LCX) branch in 15%. LAD patients had more severe left cardiac dysfunction and cardiac dilatation than LCX patients. CONCLUSION: To perform safe and reliable CAB surgery, cardiovascular surgeons should define preoperative indicators of difficult OPCAB and convert OPCAB to on-pump beating CAB intentionally without hesitation when unstable hemodynamics is detected. 相似文献

Background. [123I]Metaiodobenzylguanidine (MIBG) imaging has been used to assess cardiac sympathetic nerve abnormalities. We evaluated the clinical significance of myocardial MIBG imaging as a measure of cardiac sympathetic nervous system function by comparing it to heart rate variability and plasma norepinephrine level.Methods and Results. In 211 subjects, we analyzed heart rate variability with 24-hour electrocardiography, performed scintigraphy with MIBG, and measured plasma norepinephrine levels. Time and frequency domain measures of heart rate variability were calculated with the Marquette heart rate variability program (Marquette Electronics, Milwaukee, Wis.). Early and late myocardial MIBG uptakes were measured at 15 and 150 minutes after injection, respectively. MIBG clearance rate from the heart and heart-to-lung and heart-to-mediastinum ratios of MIBG activities were calculated. On the whole, heart rate variability, including low-frequency power, correlated positively, but modestly so, with late MIBG uptake and negatively with MIBG clearance rate. The plasma norepinephrine level correlated negatively with late MIBG uptake and with heart rate variability, including low-frequency power, and positively with MIBG clearance rate. Similar correlations were also observed in patient subgroups with coronary artery disease, diabetes mellitus, and renal failure, but these correlations were weak (R2 < 0.5).Conclusions. Increased cardiac sympathetic nervous system activity may be associated with increased myocardial MIBG clearance and decreased heart rate variability, including low-frequency power. Because these associations were not strong, however, the combination of heart rate variability with MIBG may allow an interactive assessment of the cardiac autonomic nervous system. 相似文献

25×25⋻20, mm. Microscopically, most tumor cells showed the typical histological features of serous cystadenoma, characterized
by a microcystic architecture and glycogenrich cells with a uniform and bland appearance. However, in some areas, a tendency
to papillary structures with fibrovascular cores was noted. These papillary lesions were composed mainly of nonmucinous, glycogen-poor
epithelial cells, the nuclei of which showed a mild atypia. In addition, vascular and perivascular invasion was focally observed.
However, there was no clinical evidence of local or distant metastasis. From these findings, we diagnosed this lesion as a
