The paper deals with the problems of treatment for local postoperative complications in patients suffering cancer of the larynx and throat. Early diagnosis of complications as well as therapy employing modern glass fibre equipment are discussed. The first attempt to study the microflora of the newly formed throat in the early postoperative period is described. A wide spectrum of dormant bacteria was identified. Healing was found to depend upon microorganism level and profile of bacterial species in the newly formed throat. Complex application of endoscopic and laser procedures proved to be an effective means of sanative care. 相似文献

Sera sampled from 2,884 farming animals in the Astrakhan region in 2001 to 2004 were investigated by the hemagglutination inhibition test (HIT) in order to indicate specific antibodies to West Nile virus (WNV). HIT-positive samples were investigated by the neutralization test (NT). WNV antibodies were detected in all the examined species of animals: horses (the proportion of positive tests throughout the observation averaged 9.8%; the agreement with NT results was 94.1%), cattle (6,4 and 72.%), camels (5.2 and 41.7%), pigs (3.1 and 75%), and sheep (2.2 and 57.1). Relationships between the environmental features of WNV in different natural zones, the infection rate, and the conditions of keeping farming animals in the Astrakhan region are analyzed. 相似文献

High frequency and allele‐specific differences of BRCA1 founder mutations in breast cancer and ovarian cancer patients from Belarus. Breast cancer and ovarian cancer are common malignancies in Belarus accounting for about 3500 and 800 new cases per year, respectively. For breast cancer, the rates and age of onset appear to vary significantly in regions differentially affected by the Chernobyl accident. We assessed the frequency and distribution of three BRCA1 founder mutations 5382insC, 4153delA and Cys61Gly in two hospital‐based series of 1945 unselected breast cancer patients and of 201 unselected ovarian cancer patients from Belarus as well as in 1019 healthy control females from the same population. Any of these mutations were identified in 4.4% of the breast cancer patients, 26.4% of the ovarian cancer patients and 0.5% of the controls. In the breast cancer patients, BRCA1 mutations were strongly associated with earlier age at diagnosis, with oestrogen receptor (ER) negative tumours and with a first‐degree family history of breast cancer, although only 35% of the identified BRCA1 mutation carriers had such a family history. There were no marked differences in the regional distribution of BRCA1 mutations, so that the significant differences in age at diagnosis and family history of breast cancer patients from areas afflicted by the Chernobyl accident could not be explained by BRCA1. We next observed a higher impact and a shifted mutational spectrum of BRCA1 in the series of Byelorussian ovarian cancer patients where the three founder mutations accounted for 26.4% (53/201). While the Cys61Gly mutation appeared underrepresented in ovarian cancer as compared with breast cancer cases from the same population (p = 0.01), the 4153delA mutation made a higher contribution to ovarian cancer than to breast cancer (p < 0.01). BRCA1 mutations were significantly enriched among ovarian cancer cases with a first‐degree family history of breast or ovarian cancer, whereas the median age at ovarian cancer diagnosis was not different between mutation carriers and non‐carriers. Taken together, these results identify three BRCA1 founder mutations as key components of inherited breast and ovarian cancer susceptibility in Belarus and might have implications for cancer prevention, treatment and genetic counselling in this population. 相似文献

Effective transfection of cells with multi-shell calcium phosphate-DNA nanoparticles 总被引:4,自引:0,他引:4
Coated calcium phosphate nanoparticles were prepared for cell transfection. A calcium phosphate nanoparticle served as core which was then coated with DNA for colloidal stabilisation. The efficiency of transfection could be considerably increased by adding another layer of calcium phosphate on the surface, thereby incorporating DNA into the particle and preventing its degradation within the cell by lysosomes. A subsequent outermost layer of DNA on the calcium phosphate gave a colloidal stabilisation. The efficiency of such multi-shell particles was significantly higher than that of simple DNA-coated calcium phosphate nanoparticles. The transfection efficiency of EGFP-encoding DNA was tested with different cell lines (T-HUVEC, HeLa, and LTK). The dispersions were stable and could be used for transfection after 2 weeks of storage at 4 degrees C without loss of efficiency. 相似文献
