The compound "eric" in the treatment of bronchopulmonary diseases]

The drug erik was used in 32 patients with chronic bronchitis and acute bacterial pneumonia. Out of 132 strains assessed for sensitivity, 94 (68.6%) were sensitive to the above antibiotic, the rest demonstrated moderate sensitivity or drug resistance. The dose 0.5 g persisted in the blood for up to 12 hours allowing its use three times in 24 hours. The response was achieved in 32 patients (72.18%).     

Characteristics of the lipid spectrum in miners]

Serum lipids were studied in workers of a mining enterprise situated in mid-altitude areas who were affected by some unfavourable occupational factors (noise, vibration, dustiness, psychological and physical stresses). They were compared with those in a number- and age-matched group of employees of an instrument-making plant who resided in the plain and were unexposed to the above adverse factors. The miners were found to have greater mean levels of triglycerides and potentially atherogenic lipoprotein cholesterol. The mean lipid levels were higher with the miners' age and length of occupation whereas the duration of residence in mid-altitude areas had no noticeable influence on lipid levels.     

Study of the functional status of miners working in deep coal mines based on the results of mass screening

A clinical survey has been performed of 1640 miners engaged in deep mines characterized by steep geological strata, as a result of which increased disorders have been registered in audio, nervous, cardiovascular and respiratory systems. The maximum shifts of the acoustic analizer were identified in the frequency range of 4000 hertz by 10-12 years and in the speech frequency range by 14 years. Audiologic tests revealed assymmetries in auditory threshold shifts of both right and left ears in all 1640 cases studied.     

Extracorporeal detoxification of the body and the B system of immunity in acute peritonitis

65 patients with acute peritonitis of various etiology have been examined. It has been established that marked toxemia in the early postoperative period, normal relative B-lymphocyte content, low level of EAC-RFC with moderate to high content of receptors to sheep red blood cells are prognostically unfavourable. The level of intermediate molecular mass polypeptides (IMMP) above 0.4 units and absolute absence of B lymphocytes with high receptor density during one postoperative week seem threatening and are an indication for hemosorption (HS). HS in patients with high toxin content was accompanied by a positive clinical effect related to its non-specific stimulation of qualitative and functional B-lymphocyte properties including their receptor apparatus due to IMMP removal from blood.
