The stereoregularity of poly(methyl vinyl ketone) (PMVK) was determined by NMR spectra of the polymers. Isotactic and atactic PMVK's were thermally degraded, and thermogravimetric analysis, IR and visible and UV spectroscopy were applied to elucidate the mechanism of the degradation. It was found that the isotactic polymer begins to degrade at lower temperature than the atactic polymer, but its rate becomes lower than that of the atactic polymer at temperatures higher than 320°C. If the two types of polymers were treated at a constant temperature (200°C) for varying times under N2 atmosphere, the isotactic polymer showed a higher degradation rate as determined by thermogravimetric analysis and IR spectroscopy. The isotactic polymer shows a higher tendency to form a monocyclic structure in the heat treatment than the atactic polymer. This is similar to poly(isopropenyl methyl ketone). 相似文献

Conclusion Genetic analysis of SLE in the various autoimmune mice has revealed that this disease is multigenic in nature and that several, quite distinct genetic backgrounds are compatible with this disease. Although the nature of these genetic components has not been defined, studies on New Zealand mice have indicated that multiple, unlinked genes are responsible for the expression of various disease manifestations and the production of autoantibodies. However, it is significant that single gene mutations, such as lpr, gld and Yaa, markedly influence the development of the lupus-like autoimmune syndrome. In addition, it is becoming clear, based on the results obtained from H-2 congenic mice, that the MHC class II genes play a crucial role in the development of SLE. However, the absence of severe autoimmune pathology in mice lacking the SLE background, even in the presence of the single autoimmune mutant gene and of the appropriate MHC class II genes, clearly indicates the requirement of supplementary genetic abnormalities for the fullblown manifestations of SLE.Although the abnormality of the lpr and possibly gld mutation is associated with the molecules mediating the apoptosis, the nature of the Yaa gene defect has not yet been identified. The differences in autoimmune accelerating effects between the Yaa gene and the lpr gene on autoimmune-prone and non-autoimmune mice strongly suggest that the molecular defect of the Yaa gene is likely to differ from those of the lpr and gld genes. We propose that the Yaa gene effect may result from the expression of the Yaa gene-related molecule on B cells. This molecule could behave as an intercellular adhesion-like molecule, thereby facilitating the interaction and subsequent activation of autoreactive T and B cells. Alternatively, the Yaa molecule-derived peptide could be efficiently presented in the context of MHC class II antigens by B cells, and its recognition by Yaa-specific T helper cells could activate autoantigen-specific B cells even in the absence of autoantigen-specific T helper cells. To investigate whether adenohypophysial hormone expression is heterogeneous within individual clinically nonfunctioning pituitary
adenomas, immunohistochemical examinations were performed on tissues obtained by multiple sampling of 11 adenomas. Stained
sections were assessed by morphometric image analysis as well as semiquantitative estimation under microscopy. All tumors
except one were immunopositive for one or more gonadotropins. Results were divided into five grades based on the proportion
of immunoreactive cells per section. Semiquantitative estimation showed only a one-grade difference among samples from the
same tumor in four cases for FSHβ and in two cases for LHβ. These qualitative similarities between multiple samples were confirmed
by morphometric image analysis.
From the practical standpoint of making a diagnosis of nonfunctioning pituitary adenoma, it is not necessary to take into
account immunohistochemical heterogeneity within an individual tumor, and immunohistochemical findings in a given sample obtained

A case of glycogen-rich clear cell carcinoma (GRCC) which arose in the right breast of a 35-year-old Japanese woman is reported. Light microscopic examination of the tumor revealed solid alveolar proliferation of clear cells containing abundant glycogen. Electron microscopy identified aggregates of glycogen particles and numerous empty glycogen lakes. Some mixed hyperplastic adenomatous polyps (MHAPs) contain dysplastic lesions or even carcinomas. These polyps are considered to be different from ordinary hyperplastic polyps and may have a preneoplastic potential. We investigated APC and K- ras mutations in MHAPs of the colon and rectum, and also in colorectal adenomas and hyperplastic polyps to identify molecular differences between MHAPs, adenomas and hyperplastic polyps, using direct sequencing of mutation cluster regions (MCR) in APC and K- ras . No APC mutations were identified in 12 MHAPs and 8 hyperplastic polyps, whereas 10 of 27 (37.0%) adenomas showed somatic mutations. K- ras mutations were identified in one of 12 (8.3%) MHAPs, one of 8 (12.5%) hyperplastic polyps, and 10 of 27 (37.0%) adenomas. p53 mutation was found in a carcinoma arising in an MHAP. Caffeine is known to modulate placental and fetal umbilical circulation. It is demonstrated that apoptosis of human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) is associated with placental umbilical vascular diseases. The present study was conducted to investigate the effects of caffeine on apoptosis of HUVECs. Isolated HUVECs were cultured under serum-free conditions for 24 h, and then treated with graded concentrations of caffeine (30, 100 and 300 microM) for additional 24 h and 48 h. The number of viable HUVECs was determined by cell counting. Apoptotic HUVECs were assessed by Hoechst33342 dye staining. The expression of caspase-9, caspase-8, caspase-3 and poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) was assessed by Western blot analysis. Caffeine induced a dose- and time-dependent decrease in the number of viable HUVECs. Caffeine at concentrations higher than 100 microM significantly increased the percentage of apoptotic HUVECs. Caffeine at concentrations higher than 100 microM significantly increased cleaved caspase-9, caspase-3 and PARP expression in HUVECs at 24-h treatment compared with untreated cultures, whereas 30 microM caffeine significantly increased only caspase-3 expression at 24 h. Caffeine did not affect cleaved caspase-8 expression at 48 h. These results suggest that high concentrations of caffeine inhibit cell growth of HUVECs and induce apoptosis through the caspase-9 pathway. 相似文献

The prevalence of Brugada's electrocardiographic (ECG) pattern in 7,022 male adolescents in the seventh grade was determined, and the same subjects were reexamined 3 years later, while in tenth grade. Two subjects (0.03%) and 7 subjects (0.10%) showed Brugada's ECG pattern by the conventional criterion (J point or ST-segment >/=0.1 mV in leads V(1) to V(3)), and no subjects (0%) and 2 subjects (0.03%) fulfilled the recent criterion (J point or ST-segment >/=0.2 mV) in the seventh and tenth grades, respectively, indicating that Brugada's ECG pattern begins to appear during junior high school and increases until late adulthood. 相似文献

Short-acting hematopoietic agents can improve the quality of life (QOL) of hemodialysis patients, but questions remain regarding the domains of QOL affected, the relative importance of initial and final hemoglobin (Hb) concentrations, and the use of long-acting hematopoietic agents. We measured Hb concentrations and QOL in 487 hemodialysis patients who were switched from treatment with recombinant human erythropoietin to treatment with darbepoetin alfa. QOL was measured with the Japanese-language version of the SF-36, at the start of therapy with darbepoetin alfa and again 7-14 weeks later. We examined changes in QOL over time in the group as a whole, and in subgroups stratified by the change in Hb concentration. We also studied relationships between the final Hb concentration achieved and the magnitude of change in QOL. QOL scores increased significantly in all SF-36 domains except Social Functioning. The greatest increases were in vitality and in the two role-functioning domains. The magnitude of the increase in Hb concentration was related to the magnitude of the increase in QOL for only one subscale: Vitality. Patients with higher final Hb concentrations also had greater increases in Vitality scores. Hematopoiesis induced by darbepoetin alfa is associated with increased vitality and may also be associated with improved role functioning. Vitality increased significantly only in those patients with the greatest increases in Hb concentration and in those with higher final Hb concentrations. 相似文献
