Objective: Hypnic headache is a rare, primary headache disorder that exclusively occurs regularly during sleep. We present a case of hypnic headache successfully managed with occipital nerve stimulation. Materials and Methods: A 64‐year‐old female presented with a four‐year history of a right occipital headache that regularly awakened her from sleep. The headache, which was dull and throbbing, would awaken her regularly at 4:00 am , five hours after bedtime at 11:00 pm . No photophobia, nausea or vomiting, lacrimation, or other autonomic symptoms were present. The headache was refractory to various medical treatments, including indomethacin, flunarizine, propranolol. She underwent a trial of occipital nerve stimulation with a lead electrode using a medial approach. Results: During the ten‐day trial stimulation, she reported almost complete relief from hypnic headache. Chronic occipital nerve stimulation replicated the trial results. The attacks of hypnic headache recurred in one year with loss of stimulation‐induced paresthesia; a subsequent x‐ray showed electrode migration. After revision of the electrode to the original location, the effectiveness of the occipital nerve stimulation against hypnic headache was achieved again, and this effect has been consistent through 36 months of follow‐up. The purpose of this study was to investigate the association between the expression of hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF)-1α, insulin-like growth factor (IGF)-1, glucose transporter 1 (Glut-1), carbonic anhydrase IX (CAIX), and monocarboxylate transporter (MCT)4, which are metabolism-related proteins in phyllodes tumors (PTs), and clinicopathologic factors and its implication. We used tissue microarrays to analyze 207 PTs and performed immunohistochemical staining against the glycolysis-related molecules HIF-1α, IGF-1, Glut-1, CAIX, and MCT4. We then compared the immunohistochemical results and clinicopathologic parameters. The expressions of HIF-1α, Glut-1, CAIX, and MCT4 in the stromal component of PTs increased (P?=?0.019, P?<?0.001, P?=?0.045, and P?<?0.001, respectively) with increasing tumor grade. According to univariate analysis, factors associated with shorter disease-free survival were Glut-1 expression (P?=?0.001) and MCT4 expression (P?<?0.001) in the stromal component, and the factors associated with shorter overall survival were IGF-1 expression (P?=?0.012), Glut-1 expression (P?<?0.001), CAIX expression (P?=?0.039), and MCT4 expression (P?<?0.001) in the stromal component. Our investigation of stromal expression of the metabolism-related proteins HIF-1α, IGF-1, Glut-1, CAIX, and MCT4 revealed that, as the PT grade increased, the stromal expression of HIF-1α, Glut-1, CAIX, and MCT4 significantly increased. Although momilactone B has been studied as an allelochemical of rice (Oryza sativa L.), to date we have no report showing the effect of momilactone B on mammalian cells. This study was undertaken to examine whether this allelochemical has anticancer activity on cancer cells. We show here that momilactone B at micromolar doses has antitumor efficacy by inducing apoptosis in several blood cancer cells including human leukemic T cells. In addition, our study elucidated that anticancer activity of momilactone B on human leukemic T cells resulted from the induction of apoptosis via caspase and mitochondria. From these results, momilactone B can be considered as a novel therapeutic strategy for human leukemic T cells from its direct apoptosis-inducing activity. 相似文献
