The serum concentrations of both CK-BB and NSE in patients with various lung carcinoma have been determined by the enzyme immunoassay. Serum CK-BB levels were found to be significantly increased (less than 1.0 ng/ml) in patients with a small cell carcinoma (51 cases, 74.5%), adenocarcinoma (77 cases, 36.5%), and a squamous cell carcinoma (68 cases, 39.7%). The serum NSE levels also were increased (less than 6.0 ng/ml) in cases of small cell carcinoma (72.5%), adenocarcinoma (27.3%), and squamous cell carcinoma (26.5%). Since the serum concentrations of bos CK-BB and NSE changed in parallel with the clinical course, they may be useful biomarkers for monitoring the clinical course of patients with lung cancer, especially in cases of small cell carcinoma.  相似文献

Summary The present study was designed to clarify whether or not a difference between arterial and venous lactate (lactate) levels is useful for evaluation of mitochondrial function in ischemia-reperfused myocardium. In the first experiment, 12 dogs were divided into 2 groups: 10-min occlusion of the left anterior descending coronary artery (LAD) followed by 10-min reperfusion, or 30-min occlusion followed by 40-min reperfusion, were performed. The lactate levels in the femoral artery and the great cardiac vein were measured enzymatically. Lactate was reversed immediately after occlusion. Ten min and 20 min were required for the recovery of lactate in the 10-min-occlusion with 10-min-reperfusion, and 30-min-occlusion with 40-min-reperfusion groups, respectively. In the second experiment, 36 dogs were divided into 6 groups: 10-min occlusion of LAD; 10-min occlusion with 10-min reperfusion; 30-min occlusion; and 30-min occlusion with 10-, 20-, or 40-min reperfusion were performed. Mitochondria from normal and occluded or reperfused areas were prepared, and the respiratory function of the mitochondria was measured polarographically. No significant decreases in the mitochondrial function were observed in the 10-min-occlusion, and 10-min-occlusion with 10-min-reperfusion groups. On the other hand, respiratory function of mitochondria was impaired by 30-min occlusion and was not improved by 10- or 20-min reperfusion. Significant recovery in the mitochondrial function was observed after 40-min reperfusion. That is, differing recovery time courses between lactate and the mitochondrial function were observed.  相似文献

A rare case of huge confluence meningioma with many kinds of venous collaterals is presented. A 58-year-old female was admitted because of severe headache and gait disturbance. An enhanced CT (computerized tomography) scan demonstrated a homogeneous spherical high density mass in the region of the posterior falco-tentorial junction adjacent to the internal occipital crest. Cerebral angiograms showed (1) the occluded confluence sinuum and compensatory venous collaterals, (2) venous drainage through the persistent falcial sinus, which was rare in an adult, from the straight sinus into the superior sagittal sinus (SSS), (3) venous drainage through diploic veins and emissary veins into scalp veins. The tumor including the confluence sinuum was totally removed via a combined bioccipital and suboccipital craniectomy. The confluence sinuum was invaded and occluded by the tumor. The tumor was histologically diagnosed as a fibroblastic meningioma. Post-operative angiogram showed a formation of the new venous channel which is located between the posterior part of the SSS and the lateral part of right transverse sinus. The origin of this new venous pathway was thought to be congenital presence of a "latent" dural venous channel. After ventriculoperitoneal shunting, the patient was discharged without any neurological deficits. A follow-up angiogram one year and two months after discharge showed that the channel become dilated and the venous collaterals seen before surgery disappeared probably due to the change of balance of venous pressure. The venous drainage pattern seemed to become resembling the normal variant type in which the SSS drains into the right transverse sinus, and left sinus was hypoplastic.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)  相似文献

Cardiovascular depression occuring when diazepam is combined with fentanyl has been investigated using the benzodiazepine antagonist RO15-1788 in the dog.After the initial administration of fentanyl (40mcg/kg), the mean arterial pressure (MAP) decreased to 89% of its control value. Following the administration of diazepam (1.2mg/kg), the MAP and the total peripheral resistance (TPR) decreased significantly, to 75% and 83% of their control values respectively. After the administration of RO15-1788 (0.4mg/kg), the MAP increased significantly to 90% and the TPR to 102% of their control values and, lastly, the administration of naloxone (40mcg/kg) increased the MAP to 108% of its control value. No relationship was found between the changes in the catecholamines and the changes in the MAP after the administration of fentanyl, diazepam, and RO15-1788.The mechanism of circulatory depression when diazepam was used with fentanyl is interpreted as being a peripheral vasodilatory effect of diazepam acting by way of the benzodiazepine receptors since RO15-1788 was found to antagonize this effect.(Sone T, Kato T, Tsukahara I et al.: The effect of RO15-1788 on cardiovascular depression caused by fentanyl and diazepam. Three clinical techniques providing significant changes in the approach to myocardial protection have been reported recently. These techniques deviate from conventional practice, and they infer that normothermia is superior to hypothermia, retrograde cardioplegia is more advantageous than antegrade administration, and continuous cardioplegic delivery is preferable to intermittent dosage. Encouraging preliminary clinical results with warm-blood cardioplegia are reported, but rigid clinical and experimental testing against conventional methods is not yet available for evaluation. The ideal cardioprotective strategy has yet to be determined, but these preliminary data suggest strongly that incorporation of these techniques with conventional methods will improve intraoperative myocardial protection and provide the cardiac surgeon with an augmented arsenal of strategies that can be employed to provide increased flexibility.  相似文献

Positron emission tomography (PET) studies on regional cerebral glucose metabolism and [18F]fluorodopa uptake were performed on 3 patients with "pure akinesia without rigidity and tremors", 3 progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) patients, and 5 patients with Parkinson's disease. The "pure akinesia" and PSP patients showed a marked decrease in glucose metabolism in the frontal cortex and striatum, and a decreased uptake of [18F]fluorodopa in the striatum. While the Parkinson's disease patients had a decreased uptake of [18F]fluorodopa in the striatum but no abnormality in the glucose metabolism. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed atrophy of the pretectum and dorsal pons in "pure akinesia" and PSP patients, but there was no such abnormality in the Parkinson's disease patients. As described above, patients with "pure akinesia" and PSP patients revealed similar findings on PET and MRI studies, while Parkinson's disease patients showed substantially different results.  相似文献
