Fertility after “only B-Lynch” suture: A case report and literature review

ObjectiveA new fertility assessment after a B-Lynch suture without a concomitant uterine devascularization is proposed.Case ReportThe case of a 37-year-old woman who experienced postpartum hemorrhage due to uterine atony during cesarean delivery of the previous pregnancy is reported. A B-Lynch brace suturing technique, not associated to any other hemostatic surgical procedure, was carried out. One year later and after an uncomplicated pregnancy of 39 weeks, the patient delivered a healthy infant by an elective cesarean section. Only omental adhesions were found on the anterior surface of the uterus as a consequence of the previous B-Lynch suture.ConclusionThe B-Lynch hemostatic surgical procedure, alone, does not seem to have a negative impact on fertility. Additional clinical evidences in a greater case-series of patients are needed to assess the value of the method for fertility preservation.     

Tubal pregnancy after clomiphene treatment: are you sure is not bilateral?

The estimated prevalence of ectopic pregnancy (EP) is 1–2% worldwide. Bilateral tubal pregnancies represent the rarest form of heterotopic pregnancy, and spontaneously conceived are extremely unusual, as many cases are derived from assisted reproductive techniques. We describe a case of bilateral tubal pregnancy after clomiphene therapy and sexual intercourse in which the second EP was not contemporarily revealed.     

Hb F-Avellino [Gγ41(C7)Phe → Leu; HBG2: c.124 T > C]: A New Hemoglobin Variant Observed In A Healthy Newborn

Here we describe Hb F-Avellino [^Gγ41(C7)Phe?→?Leu; HBG2: c.124?T?>?C], a new hemoglobin (Hb) variant observed in a healthy newborn. The proband’s hemolysate was found to be mildly unstable by the isopropanol test. The occurrence of the variant was assessed by both chromatographic and electrophoretic methods. DNA sequencing analysis of the ^Gγ gene showed a T to C transition at codon 41 (TTC?>?CTC) corresponding to the Phe?→?Leu substitution. Normal functional properties have been hypothesized.
