An experimental model of massive (80%) small bowel resection and antiperistaltic colon interposition in between the remnant jejunum and ileum was created in rhesus monkeys. The gastrointestinal functions were assessed preoperatively and at different periods after the operation. Progressive increase in the transit time and enhanced absorption ofd-xylose and vitamin B 12 was observed in these animals. The transit time marginally increased till three months postoperatively, and a significant increase was observed later (4–12 months) in the colon autografted monkeys. After three months, thed-xylose absorption in the colon interpositioned animals was nearly equal to that of normal monkeys. There was no significant difference in the vitamin B 12 absorption in the normal and operated animals up to three months, but a significant rise was observed in the latter group after this period. The fecal fat excretion was 33–44% initially, and it gradually decreased to near normal values after nine months. The antiperistaltic colon interposition was effective in improving the early postoperative survival in animals after massive small bowel resection and enhanced the bowel absorption considerably.This investigation was supported by grant from the Indian Council of Medical Research, New Delhi.  相似文献

A 51-year-old man with a history of stage IV angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma was diagnosed with osteomyelitis of the patella. Legionella anisa was identified by 16S rRNA gene sequencing and culture. The patient had pneumonia 2 months prior to this osteomyelitis episode. L. anisa was retrospectively detected in his lung tissue by 16S rRNA gene sequencing and was considered the source of the L. anisa that caused his patella osteomyelitis.  相似文献

2,3-Diaminomaleonitrile (DAMN) has proved to be a valuable organic π-conjugated molecule having many applications in the area of chemosensors for sensing of ionic and neutral species because of its ability to act as a building block for well-defined molecular architectures and scaffolds for preorganised arrays of functionality. In this article, we discussed the utilization of 2,3-diaminomaleonitrile (DAMN) for the design and development of chemosensor molecules and their application in the area of metal ion, anion and reactive oxygen species sensing. Along with these, we present different examples of DAMN based chemosensors for multiple ion sensing. We also discuss the ion sensing mechanism and potential uses in other related areas of research.

Objective:To evaluate the antidiabetic and antioxidant potential of Emblica officinalis(E.officinalis)fruit on normal and type 2 diabetic rats.Methods:Type 2 diabetes was induced into the male Long-Evans rats.The rats were divided into nine groups including control groups receiving water,type 2 diabetic controls,type 2 diabetic rats treated with glibenclamide(T2GT)and type 2diabetic rats treated with aqueous extract of fruit pulp of E.officinalis.They were fed orally for8 weeks with a single feeding.Blood was collected by cutting the tail tip on 0 and 28 days and by decapitation on 56 day.Packed red blood cells and serum were used for evaluating different biochemical parameters.Results:Four weeks administration of aqueous extract of E.officinalis improved oral glucose tolerance in type 2 rats and after 8 weeks it caused significant(P0.007)reduction in fasting serum glucose level compared to 0 day.Triglycerides decreased by 14%but there was no significant change in serum ALT,creatinine,cholesterol and insulin level in any group.Furthermore,reduced erythrocyte malondialdehyde level showed no significant change(P0.07)but reduced glutathione content was found to be increased significantly(P0.05).Conclusions:The aqueous extract of E.officinalis has a promising antidiabetic and antioxidant properties and may be considered for further clinical studies in drug development.  相似文献
