Correction of hyperlipoproteinogenic microangiopathy and organ pathology with thymalin and leu-enkephalin in the early stages of atherogenesis

The effects of thymalin and leu-enkephalin on lipid peroxidation and microcirculatory disorders in the early stages of atherogenesis are compared. Correction of the generalized microcirculatory response to hyperlipoproteinemia with the peptides manifested itself in the regression of atherosclerotic lesions in the aorta and restoration of the morphofunctional state of the myocardium and liver. Modulatory Influence of Rarely Repeated Immobilization Episodes on the Interleukin-1β-Dependent Reaction of Blood Leukocytes and Hepatoprotective Effect of Restraint Stress

Repeated episodes of 1-h restraint stress were accompanied by a decrease in the sensitivity of blood leukocytes and cytochrome P450-dependent monooxygenases of the liver to recombinant IL-1β. These changes are associated with the anti-infl ammatory hepatoprotective effect of chronic stress.     

Pathomorphological signs of damage to capillary endothelium in skeletal muscle after traumatic injury to or replantation of a limb

Several months after an extensive crush injury to or replantation of a limb in rats, capillary endotheliocytes of its skeletal muscle are seen to undergo ultrastructural changes of both “dark” and “light” types. Destructive/degenerative changes of the “light” type are accompanied by intracellular edema and cytoplasmic homogenization and can eventually result in monocellular colliquative necrosis. Changes of the “dark” type are characterized by signs of functional overstrain in the endotheliocytes, succeeded by destructive/degenerative cytoplasmic changes, increased electron density of intracellular organelles, loss of distinct boundaries by the nucleus and intracellular structures, rupture of cell membranes, endothelial desquamation, and some other changes, which eventually lead to coagulation necrosis, followed by breakdown of the cell into small fragments. Ultrastructural and functional changes in rat brain synaptosomes during electrical stimulation in vitro

Electrical stimulation of a suspension of rat brain synaptosomes leads to significant Ca⁺⁺-dependent liberation of endogenous noradrenalin and to a Ca⁺⁺-dependent increase in its concentration in the synaptosomes themselves. Cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterase activity is lowered significantly under these same conditions. No disturbance of synaptosomal ultrastructure is found during stimulation.
