The present paper investigates the effects of simultaneous mechanical foaming using water and fluxing with a bio-derived agent on the properties of three distinct asphalt binders: 50/70 paving-grade bitumen, 45/80–55 polymer-modified bitumen, and 45/80–80 highly modified asphalt binder. The testing involved classical tests for assessing binder consistency (penetration at 25 °C, ring and ball softening point, Fraass breaking point, and dynamic viscosity) as well as performance tests (high and low Superpave critical temperatures and multiple stress creep recovery). The tests included assessment directly after asphalt binder foaming and were repeated after a 14-day period. It was shown that bitumen foaming had only short-term effects on the asphalt binders, which did not persist in the repeated tests after 14 days. The fluxing agent that was utilized caused significant changes in the consistency of all asphalt binders. The changes in the performance characteristics of the 50/70 and 45/80–55 binders were severe and amounted to a significant decrease in high-temperature performance of these binders. On the other hand, an improvement in all performance characteristics in the case of the 45/80–80 asphalt binder was observed as a result of the applied processes, particularly when measured 14 days after foaming. This study shows that the simultaneous use of foaming and the fluxing additive decreased the dynamic viscosity of the 45/80–80 binder, while improving its properties relating the pavement performance.  相似文献

IntroductionData on structural brain changes after infection with SARS‐CoV‐2 is sparse. We postulate multiple sclerosis as a model to study the effects of SARS‐CoV‐2 on brain atrophy due to the unique availability of longitudinal imaging data in this patient group, enabling assessment of intraindividual brain atrophy rates.MethodsGlobal and regional cortical gray matter volumes were derived from structural MRIs using FreeSurfer. A linear model was fitted to the measures of the matching pre‐SARS‐CoV‐2 images with age as an explanatory variable. The residuals were used to determine whether the post‐SARS‐CoV‐2 volumes differed significantly from the baseline.ResultsFourteen RRMS patients with a total of 113 longitudinal magnetic resonance images were retrospectively analyzed. We found no acceleration of brain atrophy after infection with SARS‐CoV‐2 for global gray matter volume (p = 0.17). However, on the regional level, parahippocampal gyri showed a tendency toward volume reduction (p = 0.0076), suggesting accelerated atrophy during or after infection.ConclusionsOur results illustrate the opportunity of using longitudinal MRIs from existing MS registries to study brain changes associated with SARS‐CoV‐2 infections. We would like to address the global MS community with a call for action to use the available cohorts, reproduce the proposed analysis, and pool the results.  相似文献

The edge crush test is the most popular laboratory test in the corrugated packaging industry. It measures the edge crush resistance of a sample in the cross-fiber direction (CD), also known as the ECT index. This parameter is widely used for the specification of the board by its producers. It is also utilized in most analytical formulas describing the load capacity of the packaging. On the other hand, the ECT value can be estimated from both analytical and numerical models based on the basic parameters of each constituent paper. Knowing the compressive strength in CD (commonly known as SCT) and the elastic properties of the individual layers, the sample geometry (i.e., the period and height of the corrugated layer), as well as the boundary conditions, the ECT value can be calculated. This is very useful as new boards can be virtually analyzed before being manufactured. In this work, both detailed numerical models based on finite elements (FE) methods and very simple analytical (engineering) models were used for the ECT calculations. All presented models were validated with experimental data. The surprising consistency and high precision of the results obtained with the simplest approach was additionally analyzed in the study.  相似文献

Radio-frequency (RF) ablation is a reliable technique for the treatment of deep-seated malignant tumors, including breast carcinoma, using high ablative temperatures. The paper aims at a comparative analysis of the specific absorption rate and temperature distribution during RF ablation with regard to different female breast tumors. In the study, four tumor models equivalent to an irregular tumor were considered, i.e., an equivalent sphere and ellipsoid with the same surfaces and volumes as the irregular tumor and an equivalent sphere and ellipsoid inscribed in the irregular tumor. An RF applicator with a specific voltage, operating at 100 kHz inserted into the anatomically correct female breast, was applied as a source of electromagnetically induced heat. A conjugated Laplace equation with the modified Pennes equation was used to obtain the appropriate temperature gradient in the treated area. The levels of power dissipation in terms of the specific absorption rate (SAR) inside the naturalistically shaped tumor, together with the temperature profiles of the four simplified tumor models equivalent to the irregular one, were determined. It was suggested that the equivalent tumor models might successfully replace a real, irregularly shaped tumor, and the presented numeric methodology may play an important role in the complex therapeutic RF ablation process of irregularly shaped female breast tumors.  相似文献

IntroductionRecently published case reports suggest the benefit of empagliflozin use in subjects with glycogen storage disease Ib (GSD Ib).MethodsWe present the clinical and laboratory data of 2 adult brothers with GSD Ib treated with empagliflozin for 12 months.ResultsThere was no severe infection during administration of empagliflozin. The improvement of clinical symptoms of inflammatory bowel disease and arthritis along with reduction in serum CRP levels and urinary albumin excretion was noted. Neutrophil count increased, allowing for reduction or temporary withdrawal of G-CSF treatment.ConclusionsEmpagliflozin may be a new safe treatment in GSD Ib patients with an advanced stage of the disease.  相似文献

IntroductionRecently introduced microUSB ultrasound probe, which can be connected to personal mobile device constitutes a new class of diagnostic pocket size imaging devices (PSID).The aim of this study was to assess the feasibility and clinical utility of real-time tele-echocardiography with the use such device.Material and methodsThe study group comprised 30 patients (18 men and 12 women; mean age: 54 ±14 years; mean body mass index: 27 ±6 kg/m2), admitted to various hospital departments (infectious diseases, internal medicine and cardiology). All patients underwent focused echocardiographic examination performed by an inexperienced operator using PSID and collaborating remotely in real-time with cardiologist by means of tele-consultation. Before commencing the examination, the operators underwent 1 h training in use of the PSID.ResultsIn most of patients PSID imaging provided sufficient diagnostic image quality. The dimensions of left ventricle, left atrium and the aorta obtained during the this examination showed good correlation with standard echocardiography (r = 0.89, r = 0.82, r = 0.92 respectively), but the correlation for TAPSE measurements was less pronounced (r = 0.52). The agreement in detection of pathologies (wall motion abnormalities, morphological and functional valvular abnormalities) between the tele-echocardiography and standard echocardiographic examination was good to very good (κ ranged from 0.648 to 0.823).ConclusionsPocket size imaging devices allows an inexperienced operator to perform a focused echocardiographic examination under a remote supervision of an experienced cardiologist. The introduction of new technology in the form of PSID with tele-echocardiography feature can revolutionize access to this imaging technique.  相似文献

Multisensor CMMs are systems with an established position on the market, but their popularity still grows, as they provide access to the advantages offered by tactile and contactless measurement methods. Yet there are still questions of the comparability of results obtained using the optical and tactile operation modes of multisensor system. This phenomenon can be assessed by measuring appropriate gauges, most often reference rings or spheres. Due to the completely different nature of probing processes for tactile and contactless measurements, the material from which reference object is made may significantly affect measurement results. In order to assess the influence of this factor on measurement accuracy, three reference spheres made from different materials were measured on optical multisensor CMMs. Measurements involved tactile measurements as well as optical measurements made using different probing systems: a video probe and white light sensor. Results obtained from performed experiments show large differences depending on the material used for spherical standard production. On the basis of obtained results, it can be stated that the best material for a reference object that can be used for comparability tests of tactile and optical measurements is a composite of alumina with at least one oxidic additive.  相似文献

Introduction: The risk of obesity in children with Down syndrome is high. Undoubtedly, proper nutrition plays an important role in the prevention of excess body weight and is associated with a reduction of metabolic complications. The aim of the study was to assess the problem of disturbances in the nutritional status and eating habits of children with DS. Methods: A total of 39 patients were included in the study. The nutritional status was assessed by anthropometric tests and Dual X-ray Absorptiometry. Eating habits were assessed using the Child Eating Behavior Questionnaire and the Food Frequency Questionnaire. Blood samples were taken to determine the oxidative stress and lipid parameters. Results: Obesity was recognized in 15% of subjects and 23% were overweight. Children that were overweight were characterized by higher levels of triglycerides, atherogenic index of plasma, and apoA2 and apoE levels. Fat mass, fat mass/height2 index, and visceral fat mass correlated with thiobarbituric acid reactive substances and advanced oxidative protein product level. The analysis of the Child Eating Behavior Questionnaire showed that children struggling with being overweight were more interested in food compared to those with normal body weight. A positive correlation was identified between waist circumference and food interest categories. Insufficient consumption of dairy products, vegetables, whole grain products, as well as fruits, seeds, nuts, and fatty fish was noted. Patients were less likely to consume products that are a good source of mono- and polyunsaturated fatty acids. Conclusions: In children with Down syndrome and obesity, disturbances in lipid and oxidative stress parameters are observed. Abnormal eating habits in all children with Down syndrome regardless of their nutritional status were noted. Proper nutritional education, nutritional control, and management of metabolic problems are essential in this group of patients.  相似文献

Numerical study of the influence of pulsed laser deposited TiN thin films’ microstructure morphologies on strain heterogeneities during loading was the goal of this research. The investigation was based on the digital material representation (DMR) concept applied to replicate an investigated thin film’s microstructure morphology. The physically based pulsed laser deposited model was implemented to recreate characteristic features of a thin film microstructure. The kinetic Monte Carlo (kMC) approach was the basis of the model in the first part of the work. The developed kMC algorithm was used to generate thin film’s three-dimensional representation with its columnar morphology. Such a digital model was then validated with the experimental data from metallographic analysis of laboratory deposited TiN(100)/Si. In the second part of the research, the kMC generated DMR model of thin film was incorporated into the finite element (FE) simulation. The 3D film’s morphology was discretized with conforming finite element mesh, and then incorporated as a microscale model into the macroscale finite element simulation of nanoindentation test. Such a multiscale model was finally used to evaluate the development of local deformation heterogeneities associated with the underlying microstructure morphology. In this part, the capabilities of the proposed approach were clearly highlighted.  相似文献
