The new cembrane diterpenes leptodienone A (2) and leptodienone B (3) and the known compounds lopholide, lophodiol B, lophodione, and lophotoxin (1) have been isolated from the gorgonian Leptogorgia laxa collected in the Gulf of California. The structures of the new metabolites have been established by spectroscopic techniques. The in vitro cytotoxicity of the new compounds has been tested against three human tumor cell lines.  相似文献

The uterine rupture is a catastrophic obstetric complication. The main risk factor is an antecedent of uterine surgery, usually caesarean. It is reported the case of a 39-years-old patient with 37 week-pregnancy and polyhydramnios, without surgical antecedents, whose was not in labor and developed complete rupture of the lateral face of the uterus, which was spontaneous, without previous uterine scar and with a unusual outcome.  相似文献

ABSTRACT: Central giant cell lesions are benign intraosseous proliferative lesions that have considerable local aggressiveness. Nonsurgical treatment methods, such as intralesional corticosteroid injections, systemic calcitonin and interferon have been reported. Recently, bisphosphonates have been used to treat central giant cell lesions. A case of a 36-year-old male with a central giant cell lesion crossing the mandibular midline was treated with intralesional corticosteroids combined with alendronate sodium for the control of systemic bone resorption. The steroid injections and the use of bisphosphonates were stopped after seven months when further needle penetration into the lesion was not possible due to new bone formation. After two years, the bony architecture was near normal, and only minimal radiolucency was present around the root apices of the involved teeth. The patient was followed up for four years, and panoramic radiography showed areas of new bone formation. Thus far, neither recurrence nor side effects of the medication have been detected.  相似文献

ObjectivesTo investigate current lead (Pb) exposure in children living in Andean Ecuadorian communities. Blood Pb (PbB) and zinc protoporphyrin (ZPP) levels were used respectively as biomarkers of acute and chronic Pb poisoning. The current PbB–ZPP levels were compared with previous pediatric PbB–ZPP levels recorded over years in the study area.Design and methodsSamples of whole blood were collected from 22 Andean children of Quechua and Mestizo backgrounds and measured for PbB concentrations by graphite furnace atomic absorption spectroscopy. ZPP/heme ratio and ZPP whole blood (ZPP WB) levels were measured with a hematofluorometer.ResultsThe mean PbB level for children in the current study group was 14.5 μg/dL, which was significantly lower than the mean PbB level of 41.1 μg/dL found in the same study area in the 1996–2000 test period, and lower than the 22.2 μg/dL mean level found in the 2003–2007 period. The current mean ZPP/heme ratio was 102.1 μmol/mol, and the mean ZPP WB level was 46.3 μg/dL, both lower than values previously found in children in the study area.ConclusionWhile the current pediatric PbB–ZPP levels in the study area remain elevated in some children, the overall levels indicate a decline relative to levels observed in the same Pb-contaminated area in the period between 1996 and 2007. The elevated ZPP levels suggest a history of chronic Pb exposure, and potential iron deficiency in some children. The overall reduction in PbB–ZPP levels suggests a positive outcome of a Pb-exposure education and prevention program, and the therapeutic intervention of succimer chelation therapy.  相似文献

Fourteen fluoroquinolone-resistant streptococcal isolates with recombinant DNA topoisomerase genes, preliminarily identified as pneumococci, were further characterized using phenotypic and genotypic approaches. Phenotypic tests classified them as atypical pneumococci. Phylogenetic relationships were analyzed by using the sequences of seven housekeeping alleles from these isolates and from isolates of Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus mitis, Streptococcus oralis, and Streptococcus pseudopneumoniae. Four isolates grouped with S. pneumoniae, seven grouped with S. pseudopneumoniae, and three grouped with S. mitis. These results generally agreed with those obtained with an optochin susceptibility test and with the organization of the atp operon chromosomal region, encoding the FoF1 H+-ATPase (the target of optochin). All seven isolates grouping with S. pseudopneumoniae share the same spr1368-atpC-atpA gene order; all four grouping with S. pneumoniae share the spr1368-IS1239-atpC-atpA order, and two out of the three grouping with S. mitis share the spr1284-atpC-atpA order. In addition, evidence for recombination within the seven housekeeping alleles of the S. pseudopneumoniae population was provided by several methods: the index of association (0.4598, P < 0.001), the pairwise homoplasy index, and the split-decomposition method. This study confirms the existence of pneumococci among the alpha-hemolytic streptococci with DNA topoisomerase genes showing a mosaic structure and reveals a close relationship between atypical pneumococci and S. pseudopneumoniae.  相似文献

Constitutional pure red cell aplasia (CPRCA) is a syndrome of failed erythropoiesis usually diagnosed within the first year of life. Four patients with CPRCA received transplants with marrow from their HLA- identical, mixed lymphocyte culture-nonreactive siblings. All patients were resistant to corticosteroid therapy and were dependent on regular red cell transfusions for at least 5 years. Three patients were conditioned with procarbazine, antithymocyte globulin, cyclophosphamide, and busulfan, and one was conditioned with antithymocyte serum, cyclophosphamide, and busulfan. Three patients promptly had successful engraftments with establishment of donor hematopoiesis. One patient initially rejected his graft but received a successful retransplant. All patients are currently alive with Karnofsky performance scores of 100 and normal erythropoiesis of donor origin. Despite a history of multiple transfusions, bone marrow transplantation is a potentially curative therapy for patients with CPRCA.  相似文献

Angiotensin II (AngII) participates in the pathogenesis of kidney damage. Parathyroid hormone (PTH)-related protein (PTHrP), a vasodilator and mitogenic agent, is upregulated during renal injury. The aim of this study was to investigate the potential relation between AngII and PTHrP system in the kidney. Different methods were used to find that both rat mesangial and mouse tubuloepithelial cells express PTHrP and the type 1 PTH/PTHrP receptor (PTH1R). In these cells, AngII increased PTHrP mRNA and protein production. In contrast, PTH1R mRNA was increased in mesangial cells and downregulated in tubular cells, but its protein levels were unmodified in both cells. AT(1) antagonist, but not AT(2), abolished AngII effects on PTHrP/PTH1R. The in vivo effect of AngII was further investigated by systemic infusion (a low dose of 50 ng/kg per min) into normal rats. In controls, PTHrP immunostaining was mainly detected in renal tubules. In AngII-infused rats, PTHrP staining increased in renal tubules and appeared in the glomerulus and the renal vessels. After AngII infusion, PTHR1 staining was markedly increased in all these renal structures at day 3 but remained elevated only in tubules at day 7. The AT(1) antagonist, but not the AT(2), significantly diminished AngII-induced PTHrP and PTHR1 overexpression in the renal tissue, associated with a decrease in tubular damage and fibrosis. The results indicate that AngII regulates renal PTHrP/PTH1R system via AT(1) receptors. These findings demonstrate that PTHrP upregulation occurs in association with the mechanisms of AngII-induced kidney injury.  相似文献
