Single-incision pediatric endosurgery in newborns and infants

This study focuses on the successful application of single-incision pediatric endosurgery in the treatment of congenital anomalies and acquired diseases in neonates and infants. The purpose of this scientific review consists in highlighting the spectrum, indications, applicability, and effectiveness of single-port endosurgery in children during the first 3 postnatal months.     

Intravenous anesthesia using a combination of calypsol and the calcium antagonist finoptin

The effect of a calcium antagonist finoptin on the course of general calypsol anesthesia was studied in 85 patients with abdominal surgery. A potentiating effect of finoptin on hypnotic component of anesthesia has been established. In the post-anesthesia period the effect was strengthened by fentanyl. Central hemodynamic parameters were retained on a stable level which was close to baseline. Stimulating hemodynamic effect of calypsol was smoothed out.     

Resuscitation in acute allergic reactions to drugs

Under analysis were 40 cases of allergic reactions of the immediate type arising in 38 patients following the application of various pharmacological agents. Urticaria and Quincke's edema were observed in 21 cases and anaphylactic shock--in 19 cases. Rare cases of anaphylactic shock following injections of sombrevin, polyglucin and clinical observations of the recurring character of the course of allergic reactions are described.

Lower limb omental implantation in patients with obliterative thrombangiitis

The experience of 34 operations of omental implantation to the patients with the critical lower limb ischemia due to the obliterative thrombangiitis was analyzed. 5 patients had the procedure on the both limbs simultaneously. The operative technique had been thoroughly described in the article. The procedure, being accomplished according to the certain standards, proved to be extremely effective.     

A new set of markers for human identification based on 32 polymorphic Alu insertions

A number of genetic systems for human genetic identification based on short tandem repeats or single nucleotide polymorphisms are widely used for crime detection, kinship studies and in analysis of victims of mass disasters. Here, we have developed a new set of 32 molecular genetic markers for human genetic identification based on polymorphic retroelement insertions. Allele frequencies were determined in a group of 90 unrelated individuals from four genetically distant populations of the Russian Federation. The mean match probability and probability of paternal exclusion, calculated based on population data, were 5.53 × 10⁻¹⁴ and 99.784%, respectively. The developed system is cheap and easy to use as compared to all previously published methods. The application of fluorescence-based methods for allele discrimination allows to use the human genetic identification set in automatic and high-throughput formats.     

Ebola virus reproduction in cell cultures]

Ebola-Zaire virus production in Vero and BGM cells was studied. The CPE developed in both cell cultures. The cell monolayer destruction by 80-90% was seen at a low multiplicity of infection in 7-8 days after virus inoculation. An overlay composition was developed for virus titration using plaque assay. The plaque production was shown to be directly proportional to the virus dose. The curve of Ebola virus production in Vero cell culture fluid was determined. At a multiplicity of infection of 0.01 PFU/cell, the maximum virus titer of 10(6.4) PFU/ml was reached in 7 days postinfection. Specific antisera were generated by inoculation of guinea pigs. Indirect immunofluorescent assay was used for testing of virus-specific antigen and antibody.
