As per WHO recommendations, measles vaccine is administered at the age of 9 months which is based on studies demonstrating seroconversion (from positive to negative) at this age. However this contention may not hold good in preterm babies since they may have lower initial levels of passively transferred IgG antimeasles antibodies of maternal origin. To explore this possibility, 50 preterm babies (gestational age less than 37 weeks) were studied for antimeasles antibodies. Serum samples were collected at birth and then at 3 months and 5 months of age in all the cases. Antimeasles antibody assay was done in all the serum samples using ELISA kits. At birth 32% of infants were positive for antimeasles antibodies whereas 60% were weakly positive and 8% were negative. At 3 months of age 50% were sero negative, 2% positive and 40% weakly positive. The sero negativity was found to be 98% at 5 months with only 2% remaining positive. Since seroconversion is seen to occur in this vast majority of preterm infants at the age of 5 months, antimeasles vaccine should be administered at this age to this subset of more vulnerable babies.KEY WORDS: Antimeasles antibodies, Preterm babies, Seroconversion  相似文献

OBJECTIVE

To investigate the effect of benfotiamine on urinary albumin excretion (UAE) and the tubular damage marker kidney injury molecule-1 (KIM-1) in patients with type 2 diabetes and nephropathy.

RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS

Patients with type 2 diabetes and UAE equivalent to 15–300 mg/24 h, despite ACE inhibitors (ACE-Is) or angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs), were randomly assigned to 12 weeks of benfotiamine (900 mg/day) (n = 39) or placebo (n = 43).

RESULTS

Compared with placebo, benfotiamine treatment resulted in significant improvement of thiamine status (P < 0.001). Benfotiamine treatment did not significantly decrease 24-h UAE or 24-h KIM-1 excretion.

CONCLUSIONS

In patients with type 2 diabetes and nephropathy, high-dose benfotiamine treatment for 12 weeks in addition to ACE-Is or ARBs did not reduce UAE or KIM-1 excretion, despite improvement of thiamine status.The pathophysiology of diabetic nephropathy includes albuminuria as a consequence of glomerular endothelial damage and further progression due to tubulointerstitial inflammation and fibrosis (1,2). Despite protective treatment with ACE inhibitors (ACE-Is) and angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs), many patients progress to end-stage renal disease (3).Thiamine and benfotiamine have been proposed as protective agents for diabetes complications (4,5). Benfotiamine is a lipophilic thiamine derivative with high bioavailability (6). In animal studies, both compounds had beneficial effects on microvascular complications, including diabetic nephropathy (5,7).We investigated whether benfotiamine results in reduction in urinary albumin excretion (UAE) or tubulointerstitial damage markers in patients with type 2 diabetes and increased UAE despite ACE-Is or ARBs.  相似文献

Bronchopulmonary sequestration is an uncommon pulmonary disorder characterized by an area of non‐functioning abnormal lung tissue, which receives its blood supply from a systemic artery and characteristically has no connection with the tracheobronchial tree. The abnormal lung tissue is located within the visceral pleura of a pulmonary lobe in the intralobar variety, whereas the extralobar form has its own visceral pleura. The venous drainage of the extralobar type is usually into the systemic veins, whereas the intralobar type drains into the pulmonary veins. Radiological imaging plays a vital role in establishing the diagnosis, and even more importantly, in providing to the clinician a vascular roadmap essential for surgical planning. We present here a review of bronchopulmonary sequestration and also discuss the role of various imaging methods in the early diagnosis and management of these cases.  相似文献

目的:建立新的HPLC法分离测定格列齐特征及其有关物质。方法:色谱条件为:Shim-Pack VP-ODS(5um,150mm*4.6mm i.d.)色谱柱;甲醇-0.02mol/L磷酸(用三乙胺调节PH至3.5),(70:30)为流动相;检测波长为229nm。结果:在50-300ug;/ml的浓度范围内线性关系良好。r=0.9999(n=6);平均回收率为100.5%,RSD为0.17%(n=6),重复进样RSD为0.12%(n=6),格列齐特及其有关物质得到基线分离。结论:本法简便,快速,准确,适用于格列齐特及其制剂的质量控制。  相似文献

目的探讨腹腔镜外科技术在胃肠道肿瘤手术中的应用。方法经电视腹腔镜行胃肠道肿瘤手术18例,其中右半结肠切除术4例,横结肠癌根治术3例,乙状结肠癌根治术5例,乙状结肠癌姑息切除术并肝转移癌电凝固化1例,胃癌术后复发转移行探查活检1例,胃巨大恶性淋巴瘤行探查活检1例,晚期回肠癌行小肠侧侧吻合术1例,乙状结肠腺瘤切除术2例。结果均获成功,无中转开腹,手术时间平均165.0分钟。术后平均31.2小时胃肠功能恢复,无并发症发生,术后平均住院8.2天。13例切除肿瘤的结肠癌术后随访2月~30月,仅1例横结肠癌术后23月出现肺转移。结论腹腔镜胃肠肿瘤手术损伤小、恢复快、胃肠干扰小、术后疼痛轻,值得进一步探索开展。  相似文献

用固相法合成了hF-GRP及其15个类似物。全部裂解均用三氟甲磺酸完成。产物总收率60%~80%。对所有合成肽进行了影响离体的小鼠垂体分泌LH的活性筛选。结果表明,当合成肽的浓度为0.05mmol/L时:(1)将hF-GRP的C端COOH变成CONH2,活性变化不大;(2)C端残基Asn14被Phe替换后刺激垂体分泌LH的活性明显高于hF-GRP;(3)Thr3被Tyr替换后片段hF-GRP(3~13)有抑制LH分泌的活性;(4)其余类似物与空白对照相似。  相似文献
