Objective

The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of Tepid Sponge on changes in body temperature in children aged under five who had a fever in Dr. Achmad Mochtar Bukittinggi Hospital.

Method

This research is Quasi Experiment with one group pretest–posttest research design. Done at Dr. Achmad Mochtar Bukittinggi Hospital in April 2018. Respondents of children under five who suffered from fever were 12 people. Samples in Non-probability Sampling with Systematic Sampling. The kind of systematic sampling is type of sample based on the order of members of the population who have been given an even number starting from number 2. The statistical test used is paired sample T-test.

Results

Before being given Tepid Sponge all children under five experience high temperatures (100%) of 12 respondents, after being given Tepid Sponge one time gift, the temperature of all respondents becomes normal (100%). Statistical test results showed a significant effect of giving Tepid Sponge to changes in body temperature with p = 0.000 (≤0.05).

Conclusion

It can be concluded that there was effect of Tepid Sponge on changes in body temperature. Health workers are expected to provide Tepid Sponge for children under five who have increased body temperature.  相似文献

Objective

Triage is basically a categorization process to prioritize various treatments for patients based on the types of disease, severity, prognosis and resource availability. However, the term triage is more appropriate to be used in the context of natural disaster or mass casualties. Within the context of emergency situation in emergency department, the term triage refers to a method used to assess the severity of patients’ condition, determine the level of priority, and mobilize the patients to the suitable care unit. ESI is a new concept of triage using five scales in classifying the patients in emergency department. The real implementation of this concept demands nurses have to immediately make assessment about patients’ condition right away, besides they must give their final decision, whether to move the patients to the ward or to let them leave the hospital.

Method

This research was done using Pretest–Posttest one Group Design, involving 21 nurses in the Emergency Department of RSUD Pariaman as research respondents. Before respondents were introduced to ESI method, their basic skills had been previously evaluated, which evaluation results were compared to the after-treatment results. A set of questionnaires consisting of 10 cases were used as research instrument.

Results

The result of this research showed that the value or rank difference between common triage and ESI triage categorization was positive (N). The mean rank was found at 11.00, while the sum of positive rank was 231.0 as shown in Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) score of 0.00 lower than 0.05. Therefore, the null hypothesis was rejected.

Conclusions

There were differences in triage categorization before and after respondents were introduced to ESI method.  相似文献

Purpose

68Ga ligands targeting prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) are rapidly emerging as a significant step forward in the management of prostate cancer. PSMA is a type II transmembrane protein with high expression in prostate carcinoma cells. We prospectively evaluated the use of 68Ga-PSMA positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) in patients with prostate cancer and compared the results to those for technetium-99m (99mTc)-10-metacyloyloxydecyl dihydrogen phosphate (MDP) bone scintigraphy (BS).

Patients and Methods

A total 113 patients with biopsy-proven prostate cancer referred for standard-of-care BS were prospectively enrolled onto this study. 68Ga-PSMA PET/CT was performed after BS. Metastasis diagnosed on each technique was compared against a final diagnosis based on CT, magnetic resonance imaging, skeletal survey, clinical follow-up, and histologic correlation.

Results

Ninety-one bone lesions were interpreted as bone metastases in 25 men undergoing 68Ga-PSMA PET/CT compared to only 61 lesions in 19 men undergoing 99mTc-MDP BS. Of the 7 bone scans that missed skeletal metastases, 54% of these missed lesions were due to either marrow or lytic skeletal metastases. The median standardized uptake value in all malignant bone lesions was 13.84. 68Ga-PSMA PET/CT showed significantly higher sensitivity and accuracy than BS (96.2% vs. 73.1%, and 99.1% vs. 84.1%) for the detection of skeletal lesions. For extraskeletal lesions, 68Ga-PSMA PET/CT showed an additional 96 unexpected lesions with a median standardized uptake value of 17.6.

Conclusion

68Ga-PSMA PET/CT is superior to and can potentially replace bone scan in the evaluation for skeletal metastases in the clinical and trial setting because of its ability to detect lytic and bone marrow metastases.  相似文献

Purpose

The incidence of prostate cancer is 60% higher and the mortality rate is two- to three-times greater in black versus white men. We report on differences in 68Ga-PSMA-11 PET/CT imaging findings in 77 black South-African (BSAs) and 18 white South-African (WSAs) treatment-naïve primary prostate carcinoma (PPC) patients.

Methods

68Ga-PSMA-11 PET/CT imaging findings were compared to histological, biochemical and morphological imaging data. Patients were grouped into three Gleason grade groups (GG), GG 1 (scores 3 + 3 and 3 + 4), GG2 (scores 4 + 3 and 4 + 4) and GG3 (scores 9 and 10), and the PSA difference among the groups was determined. Inter-racial difference in SUVmax of the primary tumor as well as its correlation with serum PSA were also determined.

Results

Ninety-three out of 95 PPC where readily identified on 68Ga-PSMA-11 PET/CT imaging. Median PPC SUVmax and serum PSA values proved significantly higher (p = 0.033 and p = 0.003) in GG3 patients (median 16.4 and 180 ng/ml) when compared to GG1 patients (median 9.6 and 25.1 ng/ml) or GG2 patients (median 8.8 and 46.2 ng/ml). SUVmax significantly correlated with serum PSA-values (r = 0.377 (p = 0.0001)). Age, frequency of lymph node involvement and distant metastases, and GGs (p ≥ 0.153) were similar in BSAs and WSAs, both median serum PSA-values as well as SUVmax values proved significantly higher in BSAs when compared to WSAs, respectively, 81.6 ng/ml versus 14.5 ng/ml (p = 0.0001) and 11.9 versus 4.38 (p = 0.004). Moreover, Gleason-score normalized median SUVmax values proved 2.5 times higher in BSAs when compared to WSAs (p = 0.005).

Conclusion

SUVmax values proved significantly related to GG and to be significantly higher in BSAs when compared to WSAs. Also, SUVmax significantly correlated with serum PSA values, which was significantly higher in BSAs when compared with WSAs.

Although invasive meningococcal disease caused by serogroup A is not prevalent in developed countries, a considerable number of cases were recently recorded in Greece. In this study, serogroup A meningococcal disease was compared prospectively with meningococcal disease caused by other serogroups, using similar settings of testing and management during a 5-year period between 1999 and 2003. The Neisseria meningitidis serogroup was determined in 262 cases. Serogroup B predominated, accounting for 158 (60%) of the cases. Serogroup A was second most frequent (19%), followed by serogroups W135 (11%), C (8%), and Y (2%). No cases due to serogroup C were recorded during the last year of the study. Patients with serogroup A disease were older and had a milder course compared to patients infected with serogroups B or C. Toxic appearance, purpura, thrombocytopenia, abnormal coagulation tests, and the need for admission to the intensive care unit, fluid resuscitation, inotropic drugs, and mechanical ventilation were less common. Although morbidity and mortality were lower in these patients, the differences were not significant. Serogroup B is predominant in our area, and the introduction of an effective vaccine against it is a priority. Serogroup A has emerged as the second most common serogroup, but the illness associated with it is milder.  相似文献

“Idiopathic” talipes equinovarus (ITEV) is a nonsyndromal congenital anomaly of one or both feet. Casting and surgery are often necessary to obtain correct foot alignment. In spite of treatment, residual deformities of the feet occur and calf muscles may be hypoplastic. The cause of ITEV is unknown but genetic factors have been postulated. Complex segregation analysis was performed on 173 ITEV families including 93 Caucasian and 48 Hispanic families. The recessive mixed model was the best fitting model and no differences were found based on ethnicity.
