The focus of this study was to compare the role of nerve growth factor (NGF) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in the regeneration of experimental skin and cartilage trauma. The role of VEGF in this process is known since decade; the NGF participation on this process has been first discussed within the spinal cord injury repair. We hypothesized that both VEGF and NGF induce angiogenesis and take part on the repair process. The angiogenesis response and the cartilage regeneration after phVEGF165 plasmid and rat pcNGF plasmid administration were investigated using BALB/c mice. PhVEGF165 and pcNFG were injected into the right mice ear and plain vector injection into the left ear the day before trauma. The next day, all mice were ear-punched, resulting in 2-mm diameter puncture through the center of both pinnae. In BALB/c mouse strain, a significantly faster cartilage repair was observed after phVEGF165 and pcNGF injection into punched ear area in comparison to the control group. It has been shown that the healing process is after VEGF and NGF injection driven differentially. In case of VEGF is the cartilage wound repaired by induction of new chondrocytes differentiation. In the case of NGF, the regeneration is supported by immature leukocytes attracted into the punched area. The leukocytes induct angiogenesis so far indirectly by inflammation. The NGF-induced inflammation environment may be a part of mosaic creating the complete picture of regeneration. 相似文献

13C NMR was extensively used to determine the tacticity of poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA), poly(ethyl methacrylate) (PEMA), and poly(butyl methacrylate) (PBMA) grafted onto silk fibers using radiation-induced graft copolymerization. All polymers are predominantly syndiotactic and the tacticity is virtually independent of the degree of grafting. The value of PΣ (= Pm/r + Pr/m) was calculated from the triad distribution and was found to be approximately one. This indicates that all the above polymer chains grafted onto silk fibers are syndiotactic and obey Bernoullian statistics. The number-average sequence length of either meso or racemic additions was determined using the triad distribution. The 13C NMR relaxation parameters, spin-lattice relaxation time, T1, and nuclear Overhauser effect, NOE, were observed and then the value of the correlation time for average segmental motion, τ c, and the width parameter, p, were determined by assuming a log χ2 distribution for the correlation time. A relatively small value of p was obtained, indicating that the distribution of the correlation time is large. Taking into account the τ c values of different poly(alkyl methacrylate) chains grafted onto silk fibers, the following order of segmental motion was furnished: PMMA > PEMA > PBMA. 相似文献

This study is focused on knowing the Quality of Life of hospital nurses, and associated factors. People surveyed are composed of 100 female nurses from a hospital, eighth region, Chile. The measuring method is a questionnaire--oriented to know bio-social-demographic variables that influence nurses--and the WHOQOL-BREF quality of life measuring scale, validated in Chilean population. Results show that Domain Social Relationship (mean=77.38) is perceived as the best by female nurses, and Physical as the worst (mean=54.56). Global Quality of Life is seen as "Good" (mean=3.99) and Health Quality of Life is perceived as "Conforming" (mean=3.97). Variables predicted for Quality of Life are: age, couple situation and night shifts. Given the results, being a female nurse, and her threefold role; new studies for deeper research, especially on those variables that were not statistically relevant, are suggested. 相似文献

The fate and effects of cytostatic (anticancer or antineoplastic) pharmaceuticals in the environment are largely unknown, but they can contaminate wastewater treatment effluents and consequently aquatic ecosystems. In this paper, we have focused on five cytostatic compounds used in high amounts (cyclophosphamide, cisplatin, 5-fluorouracil, doxorubicin, and etoposide), and we have investigated their ecotoxicity in bacterial Pseudomonas putida growth-inhibition test, algal Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata growth-inhibition test, and Dapnia magna acute immobilization test. Genotoxicity also was assessed with Escherichia coli SOS-chromotest (with and without metabolic activation) and the GreenScreen Assay using yeast S. cerevisiae. All tested compounds showed significant effects in most of the assays with lowest-observed-effect concentrations and concentrations causing 50% effects (EC50s) values ranging within microg/L to mg/L. The most toxic compound was 5-fluorouracil in the assays with P. putida (EC50 = 0.027 mg/L) and P. subcapitata (EC50 = 0.11 mg/L), although cisplatin and doxorubicin were the most toxic to D. magna (EC50 = 0.64 and 2.0 mg/L, respectively). These two chemicals were also the most genotoxic in the SOS-chromotest (minimum genotoxic concentrations [MGC] = 0.07-0.2 mg/L), and 5-fluorouracil was the most genotoxic in the eukaryotic yeast assay (MGC = 0.02 mg/L). Our investigation seems to indicate generally lower risks of acute effects at concentrations expected in the environment. However, some effective concentrations were relatively low and chronic toxicity of cytostatics (and/or their transformation products), as well as specific sources of human pharmaceuticals such as hospital effluents, require research attention. 相似文献
