Interaction of pretilachlor with photosystem (PS)-II of the cyanobacterium Desmonostoc muscorum PUPCCC 405.10 has been studied in this paper. Pretilachlor negatively affected growth, chlorophyll a (Chl a), photosynthesis, and carbon dissimilation in a dose-dependent manner. Effects were also observed in PSs, especially PS-II (an 11–35% decrease), as well as the whole photosynthetic electron transport activity. The fluorescence emission spectrum of Chl a revealed a dose-dependent effect of pretilachlor on both the antenna and the core complex of PSs, with more severe effect on the former. Data of O-J-I-P fluorescence transient of Chl a revealed that pretilachlor interfered with electron flow between QA and QB sites of PS-II. It was further observed that pretilachlor decreased maximum fluorescence, variable and relative variable fluorescence, maximum quantum yield, quantum yield of electron transport, the rate of trapped exciton movement, quantum yield of electron transfer, and performance index of primary photochemistry; however, there was a progressive increase in the net rate of PS-II closure, quantum yield of energy dissipation, and effective antenna size per active reaction center. A decrease in photosynthetic activity leads to a decrease in carbon dissimilation, as evidenced by low activity of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase and pyruvate kinase. Thus, pretilachlor, which is otherwise known to kill weeds by interfering with cell division, affected the growth of the cyanobacteria by interacting with PS-II.  相似文献

Antibody-mediated rejections (AMR) in the absence of circulating anti-HLA-DSA have highlighted the role of non-HLA antibodies, particularly those directed against endothelial cells. Of these, MICA (major histocompatibility complex class I chain–related molecule A) antibodies are the most notable and important because of their potential in promoting graft rejections. Limited studies have focused on the impact of MICA donor-specific antibodies (DSA) on graft outcome as compared to those that are not donor-specific (NDSA). We evaluated pre- and post-transplant sera at POD 7, 30, 90, 180 and the time of biopsy from 206 consecutive primary live donor renal transplant recipients for anti-MICA and anti-HLA antibodies using single antigen bead assay on a Luminex platform. Recipients who developed MICA antibodies and their donors were phenotyped for MICA alleles. For the purpose of antibody analysis, patients were categorized into three major groups: biopsy-proven AMR, acute cellular rejection (ACR) and those with no rejection episodes (NRE). During the mean follow-up period of 17.37 ± 6.88 months, 16 of the 206 recipients developed AMR, while ACR was observed in only 13 cases. A quarter (25%) of the AMR cases had anti-MICA antibodies as compared to 7.7% of those experiencing ACR and 6.2% of the NRE group. Allelic typing revealed that all MICA Ab +ve AMR cases were due to the presence of donor-specific antibodies. MICA-DSA even in the absence of HLA-DSA was significantly associated with AMR but not with ACR when compared with the NRE group (P = <.01).  相似文献

Viruses are obligate parasites known to interact with a wide variety of host proteins at different stages of infection. Current antiviral treatments target viral proteins and may be compromised due to the emergence of drug resistant viral strains. Targeting viral‐host interactions is now gaining recognition as an alternative approach against viral infections. Recent research has revealed that heterogeneous ribonucleoprotein A1, an RNA‐binding protein, plays an essential functional and regulatory role in the life cycle of many viruses. In this review, we summarize the interactions between heterogeneous ribonucleoprotein A1 (hnRNPA1) and multiple viral proteins during the life cycle of RNA and DNA viruses. hnRNPA1 protein levels are modulated differently, in different viruses, which further dictates its stability, function, and intracellular localization. Multiple reports have emphasized that in Sindbis virus, enteroviruses, porcine endemic diarrhea virus, and rhinovirus infection, hnRNPA1 enhances viral replication and survival. However, in others like hepatitis C virus and human T‐cell lymphotropic virus, it exerts a protective response. The involvement of hnRNPA1 in viral infections highlights its importance as a central regulator of host and viral gene expression. Understanding the nature of these interactions will increase our understanding of specific viral infections and pathogenesis and eventually aid in the development of novel and robust antiviral intervention strategies.  相似文献

Primary adrenal lymphoma (PAL) is an extremely rare condition. We describe here, a case of bilateral adrenal lymphoma in a 62‐year‐old man. He later developed subcutaneous masses on the hand and the leg. Fine‐needle aspiration cytology from the adrenals and the soft tissue swellings led to a diagnosis of non‐Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL). Histopathological examination from the lesion on the leg, confirmed the diagnosis to be B‐cell NHL. The case highlights the cytomorphological findings of this unusual case. Awareness of this entity is essential to differentiate it from other common causes of adrenal enlargement and formulate an appropriate treatment.  相似文献

Due to the inability of canonical nucleobases (adenine, uracil, guanine and cytosine) to spontaneously form ribonucleosides and base pairs in free form in solution, RNA is believed to be preceded by a primitive information polymer (preRNA). The preRNA is proposed to contain non-canonical, heterocyclic bases that possess the above-mentioned capabilities. An extensive search for such candidate heterocycles has recently revealed that barbituric acid (BA), melamine (MM) and 2,4,6-triaminopyrimidine (TAP) have the capability to spontaneously form ribonucleosides and supramolecular assemblies that are held by Watson–Crick type hydrogen-bonded base pairs involving BA, MM, TAP and cyanuric acid (CA) heterocycles. However, despite this evidence, the prebiotic formation pathways of these heterocycles have not been fully explored. Further, for these heterocycles to interact and assemble into informational polymers under prebiotic conditions, it is expected that they should have formed in the proximity of each other. In this context, the present work employs density functional theory to propose the associated radical based formation pathways starting from cyanamide. Our pathways suggest that cyanamide, its derivatives (malonic acid and urea) and malononitrile can form BA, MM, CA and TAP in the presence of ammonia and hydroxyl radicals. In addition to originating from a common precursor, similarities in the highest reaction barriers (13 to 20 kcal mol−1) obtained for these pathways suggest that these heterocycles may likely form under similar conditions. Specifically, these pathways are relevant to high energy events such as meteoritic impact during the late heavy bombardment period on the early earth, which would have created conditions where radicals might have formed in reasonable concentrations. Overall, the present study emphasizes the importance of cyanamide in prebiotic heterocycle formation.

Inspired by the nano-segregation of ionic liquids (ILs) into bi-continuous structures constituting of arrays of ionic and non-ionic components, herein, a new and sustainable strategy for preparation of mesh-like nano-sheet α-Fe2O3 nanoparticles and their photo-catalytic activity under sunlight, is presented. For the purpose, metal (iron) containing ionic liquids (MILs), 1-alkyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrachloroferrates, [Cnmim][FeCl4], (n = 4, 8 and 16), which not only act as precursors and solvents but also as structure directing agents have been used. Thus prepared NPs show MIL dependent structural, photophysical and magnetic properties. The catalytic efficiency of NPs has been tested for the photo-degradation of organic dyes (Rhodamine B) in aqueous solution under sunlight. The NPs are found to exhibit comparable catalytic efficiency under sunlight as compared to that observed under high intensity visible lamplight, without showing a decline in their catalytic efficiency even after 4 catalytic cycles. It is anticipated that the present work will provide a new platform for preparation of sunlight active nanomaterials for photo-catalytic applications with control over the structural and physical properties via varying the molecular structure of MILs.
