Plasma levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) are strongly and inversely correlated with atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases. However, it is becoming clear that a functional HDL is a more desirable target than simply increasing HDL-cholesterol levels. The best known antiatherogenic function of HDL particles relates to their ability to promote reverse cholesterol transport from peripheral cells. However, HDL also possesses antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antithrombotic effects. Purpose
To evaluate accuracy of virtual parenchymal perfusion (VPP) algorithm developed for targeting liver cancer during intra-arterial therapy (IAT) using cone-beam CT guidance.Materials and Methods
VPP was retrospectively applied to 15 patients who underwent IAT for liver cancer. Virtual territory (VT) was estimated after positioning a virtual injection point on nonselective dual-phase (DP) cone-beam CT images acquired during hepatic arteriography at the same position chosen for selective treatment. Targeted territory (TT) was used as the gold standard and was defined by parenchymal phase enhancement of selective DP cone-beam CT performed before treatment start. Qualitative evaluation of anatomic conformity between VT and TT was performed using a 3-rank scale (poor, acceptable, excellent) by 3 double-blinded readers. VT and TT were also quantitatively compared using spatial overlap–based (Dice similarity coefficient [DSC], sensitivity, and positive predictive value), distance-based (mean surface distance [MSD]), and volume-based (absolute volume error and correlation between pairwise volumes) metrics. Interreader agreement was evaluated for the 2 evaluation methods.Results
Eighteen DP cone-beam CT scans were performed. Qualitative evaluation showed excellent overlap between VT and TT in 88.9%–94.4%, depending on the readers. DSC was 0.78 ± 0.1, sensitivity was 80%, positive predictive value was 83%, and MSD was 5.1 mm ± 2.4. Absolute volume error was 15%, and R2 Pearson correlation factor was 0.99. Interreader agreement was good for both qualitative and quantitative evaluations.Conclusions
VPP algorithm is accurate and reliable in identification of liver arterial territories during IAT using cone-beam CT guidance. 相似文献63.

Blastocystis sp. has been described as the most common intestinal parasite in humans and has an increased impact in public health. To improve our understanding of the molecular epidemiology of this human-emerging parasite, we determined the Blastocystis subtypes (STs) and their relative frequency in Egyptian patients living in or in the vicinity of Cairo and presenting gastrointestinal symptoms. We obtained a total of 20 stool samples identified as positive for Blastocystis by microscopic examination of smears. Genotyping using partial small subunit ribosomal RNA gene analysis identified a total of 21 Blastocystis isolates corresponding to 19 single infections and one mixed infection (ST1 and ST3). Three STs were identified: ST3 was the most common ST in the present Egyptian population (61.90%) followed by ST1 (19.05%) and ST2 (19.05%). Together with previous studies carried out in different areas in Egypt, a total of five STs (ST1, ST2, ST3, ST4, and ST6) have been found in symptomatic patients. These data were compared to those available in the literature, and we underlined variations observed in the number and relative proportions of STs between and within countries. On the whole, it seemed that Blastocystis infection is likely not associated with specific STs even if some STs are predominant in the epidemiologic studies, but rather with a conjunction of factors in the course of infection including environmental risk and parasite and host factors. 相似文献

Introduction
Neu (HER2/ErbB2) is overexpressed in 25% to 30% of human breast cancer, correlating with a poor prognosis. Researchers in previous studies who used the mouse mammary tumor virus Neu-transgenic mouse model (MMTV-Neu) demonstrated that the Neu-YB line had increased production of CXCL12 and increased metastasis, whereas the Neu-YD line had decreased metastasis. In this study, we examined the role of increased production of CXCL12 in tumor cell invasion and malignancy.Methods
We studied invasion in the tumor microenvironment using multiphoton intravital imaging, in vivo invasion and intravasation assays. CXCL12 signaling was altered by using the CXCR4 inhibitor AMD3100 or by increasing CXCL12 expression. The role of macrophage signaling in vivo was determined using a colony-stimulating factor 1 receptor (CSF-1R) blocking antibody.Results
The Neu-YD strain was reduced in invasion, intravasation and metastasis compared to the Neu-YB and Neu deletion mutant (activated receptor) strains. Remarkably, in the Neu-YB strain, in vivo invasion to epidermal growth factor was dependent on both CXCL12-CXCR4 and CSF1-CSF-1R signaling. Neu-YB tumors had increased macrophage and microvessel density. Overexpression of CXCL12 in rat mammary adenocarcinoma cells increased in vivo invasion as well as microvessel and macrophage density.Conclusions

Allele frequencies for 15 STR autosomal loci of Identifiler kit (D8S1179, D21S11, D7S820, CSF1PO, D3S1358, TH01, D13S317, D16S539, D2S1338, D19S433, vWA, TPOX, D18S51, D5S818 and FGA) in the Moroccan population of Berber-speaking of Azrou, were assessed from a sample of 201 unrelated individuals. Markers D18S51, D2S1338, FGA and D21S11 present the highest power of discrimination (PD) values while D21S11 was the most polymorphic locus in the studied population. The phylogenetic tree established among worldwide populations, shows that Berber-speaking population of Azrou was so close to the Berber-speaking population of Asni but also to the Arab-speaking population of southern Morocco. Nevertheless, a significant distance was observed between populations of Azrou and Bouhria even they share the same dialect (Amazigh) and belong to the same geographical area (Morocco). The 15 STR loci studied appear to be highly discriminating, thus providing a powerful tool for forensic applications, paternity investigation, individual identification and anthropological studies. 相似文献

Acute cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection is a commonly encountered complication in the post liver transplant setting. We present a case of a 71-year-old male with acute CMV infection, initially presenting with a gastrointestinal bleed due to acute CMV gastritis and later on complicated by acute venous thromboembolism occurring as an unprovoked event in the post liver transplant period. Traditional risk factors for venous thromboembolism have been well described in the medical literature. Sporadic cases of thromboembolism due to CMV infection in the immune compromised patients have been described, especially in the post kidney transplant patients. Liver transplant recipients are equally prone to CMV infection particularly in the first year after successful transplantation. Venous thromboembolism in this special population is particularly challenging due to the fact that these patients may have persistent thrombocytopenia and anticoagulation may be a challenge for the treating physician. Since liver transplantation is severely and universally limited by the availability of donor organs, we feel that this case report will provide valuable knowledge in the day to day management of these patients, whose clinical needs are complex and require a multidisciplinary approach in their care and management. Evidence and pathophysiology linking both the conditions is presented along with a brief discussion on the management, common scenarios encountered and potential impact in this special group of patients. 相似文献
