The ontogeny of the neurotensin binding sites in the rat caudal cortex such as the retrosplenial cortex, the visual area containing area 17 and 18, the caudal somatosensory area and temporal area was examined by autoradiography. During the early postnatal period (from birth to day 10), very-high-density [3H]neurotensin binding sites were observed in the caudal cortical area, but the number of binding sites decreased markedly with age. On the other hand, the ventral tegmental area and substantia nigra pars compacta had a low density of binding sites at birth, but the density increased until about day 15 and remained even in the adult rat. The amygdalofugal substance P (SP) and somatostatin (SRIF) neuron systems in the stria terminalis (ST) were investigated by means of the indirect immunofluorescence technique of Coons. SP- and SRIF-positive cells were mainly located in the area (Amc) between the central (ac) and medial (am) amygdaloid nuclei. Some extended medially into the am and laterally into the ac. Destruction of the Amc resulted in a marked reduction of SP- and SRIF-positive fibers in the ST. Furthermore, a substantial decrease in SP-positive fibers was seen in the dorsal part of the bed nucleus of the ST (stb), there was a small decrease in the SP-positive fibers in the lateral hypothalamus (LH), a significant decrease in the SRIF-positive fibers in the lateroventral part of the anterior hypothalamic nucleus (lvAH), and a small decrease in the SRIF-positive fibers in the LH. These facts indicate that the origins of a number of SP- and SRIF-positive fibers are the Amc and that the amygdalofugal SP pathway in the ST innervates stb and LH and the amygdalofugal SRIF pathway in the ST projects to lvAH and LH. 相似文献

High-pressure liquid chromatography was used to study the development of blood adrenocortical circadian rhythm in a total of 64 children, ranging in age from 1 month to 15 years. Patients with endocrine diseases, congenital anomalies, and diseases of the central nervous system were excluded from this study. Determination of corticosteroid concentration was possible with 20 to 100 microL of serum. Twenty-four hour patterns were determined at six-hour intervals. A distinct circadian rhythm with an amplitude comparable to that of an adult emerged at approximately 6 months of age. 相似文献

To evaluate right ventricular (RV) function in severe left ventricular (LV) failure, we measured RV and LV ejection fractions (EF) in 18 patients with old myocardial infarction (OMI) and in 18 with dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) using cardiac blood pool scintigraphy. In patients with OMI, RVEF was significantly greater in stage II LV failure than in stage III (functional class of the New York Heart Association, 47 +/- 8% and 28 +/- 12%, respectively: p less than 0.01), and this correlated well with exercise tolerance by bicycle ergometer and mean pulmonary artery pressure (r = 0.83 and r = -0.71, respectively). In patients with DCM, however, there was no correlation between RVEF and these indexes. After the oral administration of denopamine (beta 1 effector), both RVEF and LVEF increased in patients with OMI (35 +/- 13% to 45 +/- 12%, and 27 +/- 9% to 30 +/- 10%: p less than 0.01), but they did not change significantly in patients with DCM. These results indicate that RVEF in patients with OMI correlates well with subjective symptoms, exercise tolerance and RV afterload, but these correlations were not apparent in patients with DCM. We examined with an electron microscopic 'mirror technique' whether glutamic acid decarboxylase-immunoreactive (GAD-IR) neurons are in direct synaptic contact with tyrosine hydroxylase-immunoreactive (TH-IR) axons in the rat neostriatum. Three types of GAD-IR neurons were identified in the nucleus caudatus putamen based upon their size and ultrastructural characteristics. These were medium spiny, medium aspiny and large cells. All types of GAD-IR neurons made synaptic contact with TH-IR axonal boutons at least on perikarya and proximal dendrites. This provides ultrastructural evidence for catecholaminergic, presumably, nigrostriatal dopaminergic inputs to both long- and short-axon neurons most probably containing GABA. 相似文献
