The electrochemical behavior of some polybenzofulvene derivatives bearing bithiophene (BT) or terthiophene (TT) side chains was investigated by cyclic voltammetry. Very interestingly, the presence of unsubstituted terminal thiophene moieties allowed poly-6-BT-BF3k and poly-6-TT-BF3k to be cross-linked by electrochemical procedures. Conductive films were obtained by electrodeposition from solutions of these polymers onto electrode surfaces through the formation of covalent cross-linking due to dimerization (i.e. electrochemical oxidation) of the BT or TT side chains. The films showed electrochromic features and switched from yellow-orange (neutral) to green (positively charged) by switching the potential, and were stable to tenths of cycles, without degradation in the wet state in the electrolyte solution. Finally, the thin film obtained by electrodeposition of poly-6-TT-BF3k on a indium tin oxide (ITO) glass substrate showed in the neutral state a significantly red-shifted photoluminescence (PL) emission (∼40 nm red-shifted with respect to that of the corresponding film obtained by casting procedures), which was consistent with the presence of more conjugated moieties produced by the oxidative dimerization of the TT side chains. The challenge of developing scaffolds to reconstruct critical‐sized calvarial defects without the addition of high levels of exogenous growth factor remains relevant. Both osteogenic regenerative efficacy and suitable mechanical properties for the temporary scaffold system are of importance. In this study, a Mg alloy mesh reinforced polymer/demineralized bone matrix (DBM) hybrid scaffold was designed where the hybrid scaffold was fabricated by a concurrent electrospinning/electrospraying of poly(lactic‐co‐glycolic acid) (PLGA) polymer and DBM suspended in hyaluronic acid (HA). The Mg alloy mesh significantly increased the flexural strength and modulus of PLGA/DBM hybrid scaffold. In vitro results demonstrated that the Mg alloy mesh reinforced PLGA/DBM hybrid scaffold (Mg‐PLGA@HA&DBM) exhibited a stronger ability to promote the proliferation of bone marrow stem cells (BMSCs) and induce BMSC osteogenic differentiation compared with control scaffolding materials lacking critical components. In vivo osteogenesis studies were performed in a rat critical‐sized calvarial defect model and incorporated a variety of histological stains and immunohistochemical staining of osteocalcin. At 12 weeks, the rat model data showed that the degree of bone repair for the Mg‐PLGA@HA&DBM scaffold was significantly greater than for those scaffolds lacking one or more of the principal components. Although complete defect filling was not achieved, the improved mechanical properties, promotion of BMSC proliferation and induction of BMSC osteogenic differentiation, and improved promotion of bone repair in the rat critical‐sized calvarial defect model make Mg alloy mesh reinforced PLGA/DBM hybrid scaffold an attractive option for the repair of critical‐sized bone defects where the addition of exogenous isolated growth factors is not employed. 相似文献

Purpose
To analyze the influence of adding gentamicin to a regimen consisting of β-lactam or vancomycin plus rifampicin on survival in patients suffering from Staphylococcal prosthetic valve endocarditis (SPVE).Methods
From January 2008 to September 2016, 334 patients with definite SPVE were attended in the participating hospitals. Ninety-four patients (28.1%) received treatment based on β-lactam or vancomycin plus rifampicin and were included in the study. Variables were analyzed which related to patient survival during admission, including having received treatment with gentamicin.Results
Seventy-seven (81.9%) were treated with cloxacillin (or vancomycin) plus rifampicin plus gentamicin, and 17 patients (18.1%) received the same regimen without gentamicin. The causative microorganism was Staphylococcus aureus in 40 cases (42.6%) and coagulase-negative staphylococci in 54 cases (57.4%). Overall, 40 patients (42.6%) died during hospital admission, 33 patients (42.9%) in the group receiving gentamicin and 7 patients in the group that did not (41.2%, P = 0.899). Worsening renal function was observed in 42 patients (54.5%) who received gentamicin and in 9 patients (52.9%) who did not (p = 0.904). Heart failure as a complication of endocarditis (OR: 4.58; CI 95%: 1.84–11.42) and not performing surgery when indicated (OR: 2.68; CI 95%: 1.03–6.94) increased mortality. Gentamicin administration remained unrelated to mortality (OR: 1.001; CI 95%: 0.29–3.38) in the multivariable analysis.Conclusions
The addition of gentamicin to a regimen containing vancomycin or cloxacillin plus rifampicin in SPVE was not associated to better outcome. 相似文献955.

Purpose
Diffuse remodeling of myocardial extra-cellular matrix is largely responsible for left ventricle (LV) dysfunction and arrhythmias. Our hypothesis is that the texture analysis of late iodine enhancement (LIE) cardiac computed tomography (cCT) images may improve characterization of the diffuse extra-cellular matrix changes. Our aim was to extract volumetric extracellular volume (ECV) and LIE texture features of non-scarred (remote) myocardium from cCT of patients with recurrent ventricular tachycardia (rVT), and to compare these radiomic features with LV-function, LV-remodeling, and underlying cardiac disease.Procedures
Forty-eight patients suffering from rVT were prospectively enrolled: 5/48 with idiopathic VT (IVT), 23/48 with post-ischemic dilated cardiomyopathy (ICM), 9/48 with idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy (IDCM), and 11/48 with scars from a previous healed myocarditis (MYO). All patients underwent echocardiography to assess LV systolic and diastolic function and cCT with pre-contrast, angiographic, and LIE scan to obtain end-diastolic volume (EDV), ECV, and first-order texture parameters of Hounsfield Unit (HU) of remote myocardium in LIE [energy, entropy, HU-mean, HU-median, standard deviation (SD), and mean absolute deviation (MAD)].Results
Energy, HU mean, and HU median by cCT texture analysis correlated with ECV (rho?=?0.5650, rho?=?0.5741, rho?=?0.5068; p?<?0.0005). cCT-derived ECV, HU-mean, HU-median, SD, and MAD correlated directly to EDV by cCT and inversely to ejection fraction by echocardiography (p?<?0.05). SD and MAD correlated with diastolic function by echocardiography (rho?=?0.3837, p?=?0.0071; rho?=?0.3330, p?=?0.0208). MYO and IVT patients were characterized by significantly lower values of SD and MAD when compared with ICM and IDCM patients, independently of LV-volume systolic and diastolic function.Conclusions
Texture analysis of LIE may expand cCT capability of myocardial characterization. Myocardial heterogeneity (SD and MAD) was associated with LV dilatation, systolic and diastolic function, and is able to potentially identify the different patterns of structural remodeling characterizing patients with rVT of different etiology.960.

Despite all the emphasis laid today on the green economy, occupational health and safety
(OHS) issues have still been talked only limitedly, as already noted in previous studies
and literature reviews. The Department of Occupational and Environmental Medicine,
Epidemiology and Hygiene of the Italian Workers’ Compensation Authority (INAIL) has
conducted a survey among some Italian stakeholders, social partners, institutions and
“green” businesses to gather their perceptions of the potential effects of
green jobs on OHS, particularly in the renewable energy
sector. The survey involved a sample of 61 stakeholders in the following categories:
institutions (11), trade unions (11), employers’ organizations (13), businesses (11),
research (15). Participation in this survey of national stakeholders who have a central
role in the development and management of policies on renewable energy and OHS, allowed to
analyze in depth the fundamental aspects for a fair transition towards green economy.
Also, the good agreement among respondents brought to light quite clearly the main
critical points as regards the OHS implications of green work in Italy, and pointed to the
principal policies to be adopted to safeguard workers’ health and safety. 相似文献
