Three multivariate modelling approaches including partial least squares regression (PLS), genetic algorithm‐partial least squares regression (GA‐PLS), and principal components‐artificial neural network (PC‐ANN) analysis were investigated for their application to the simultaneous determination of chlordiazepoxide and clidinium levels in pharmaceuticals. A set of synthetic mixtures of drugs in ethanol and 0.1 M HCL was made, and the prediction abilities of the aforementioned methods were examined using RSE% (relative standard error of the prediction). The PLS and PC‐ANN methods were found to be comparable, and GA‐PLS produced slightly better results. The predictive models that we built were successfully applied to simultaneously determine the levels of chlordiazepoxide and clidinium in coated tablets. Abstract

Based on exceptional advantages of aptamers, increasing attention has been presented in the utilise of them as targeted ligands for cancer drug delivery. Recently, the progress of aptamer-targeted nanoparticles has presented new therapeutic systems for several types of cancer with decreased toxicity and improved efficacy. We highlight some of the promising formulations of aptamer-conjugated polymeric nanoparticles for specific targeted drug delivery to cancer cells. This review paper focuses on the current progresses in the use of the novel strategies to aptamer-targeted drug delivery for chemotherapy. An extensive literature review was performed using internet database, mainly PubMed based on MeSH keywords. The searches included full-text publications written in English without any limitation in date. The abstracts, reviews, books as well as studies without obvious relating of aptamers as targeted ligands for cancer drug delivery were excluded from the study. The reviewed literature revealed that aptamers with ability to modify and conjugate to various molecules can be used as targeted cancer therapy agents. However, development of aptamers unique to each individual’s tumour to the development of personalised medicine seems to be needed.  相似文献

Introduction

Streptococcus pneumoniae can cause invasive pneumococcal diseases (IPD), such as bacteremic pneumonia, bacteremia, meningitis, and sepsis, and non-IPDs, such as otitis media, nonbacteremic pneumonia, and upper respiratory tract infections. It was estimated in 2000 that, worldwide, S. pneumoniae was responsible for 826,000 deaths annually in children aged between 1 month and 5 years. A 7-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV7) was licensed in 2000 in the USA and in 2001 in Europe.

Methods

A literature search was performed in PubMed to identify studies assessing the impact of routine childhood PCV7 vaccination on pneumococcal morbidity and mortality. Here, the impact on IPD is reported.

Results

A total of 37 articles reporting impact data on IPD were included in this review: four from Australia, 17 from western Europe, and 16 from North America. In vaccine-eligible children in the postvaccination period, a reduction ranging from 39.9% in Spain to 99.1% in the USA in vaccine-type (VT) IPD incidence, compared with the prevaccination period, was reported in 18 studies. All but one of the 30 studies assessing the impact of PCV7 on all-type IPD reported a reduction ranging from 1.7% in Spain to 76.3% in Australia. In addition, the majority of studies reported reductions in VT and all-type IPD incidence in age groups that were not vaccine eligible.

Conclusions

The results from this review illustrate that PCV7 has had a significant impact on IPD across all ages through its use in pediatric immunization programs. With the introduction of 13-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV13) further reductions in the incidence of IPD due to the six additional serotypes included, as well as continued protection against IPD due to PCV7 serotypes may be expected. Robust surveillance systems are essential for the evaluation of the impact of PCV13 on all-type IPD and for monitoring the evolution of non-VT IPD.  相似文献

This prospective study aimed to compare the value of fine needle aspiration (FNA) cytology (FNAC) and flow cytometric immunophenotyping (FCI) with histopatopathology (HP) in the diagnosis and classification of non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL). Twenty-nine excised lymph nodes suspected of NHL were evaluated using FNAC, FCI, and HP. Specimens were divided into two equal parts; one for HP and the other for FNAC and FCI. Results were compared in terms of diagnosis (malignant, benign or reactive, and metastatic) and NHL class. With combined FNAC/FCI, 11 (37.9%) cases were diagnosed as NHL, 11 cases (37.9%) as reactive lymph node, six cases (20.6%) as Hodgkin's lymphoma, and one case (3.4%) as metastasis. HP revealed nine cases (31%) of NHL, five cases (17.2%) of reactive lymph nodes and all the diagnosed metastatic and Hodgkin's lymphoma. Considering histology as a gold standard method in diagnosis, the sensitivity, specificity, PPV and NPV of FNAC/FCI in differentiate malignant and benign lesion were 73.9%, 83.3%, 94.4%, and 45.5%, respectively and in differentiate NHL from others were 75%, 93.8%, 90%, and 83.3%, respectively. Cytology and HP in addition to FCI and HP are significantly different from determination of NHL lesions point of view (P = 0.001 and P < 0.0001, respectively). However, FCI can be considered as an adjunctive method for Cytology especially because Cytology is not competent enough to differentiate between benign lesions and Lymphoma. Additionally, FCI is shown to be an accurate method in classifying NHL.  相似文献
