Alopecia is one of the common symptoms after high-dose radiation exposure. In our experiments, neonatal mice that received 7 Gy X-ray exhibited defects in overall hair growth, except for their cheeks. This phenomenon might suggest that some substances were secreted and prevented hair follicle loss in the infant tissues around their cheeks after radiation damage. In this study, we focused on exosome-like vesicles (ELV) secreted from cheek skin tissues and back skin tissues, as control, and examined their radiation protective effects on mouse fibroblast cell lines. We observed that ELV from irradiated cheek skin showed protective effects from radiation. Our results suggest that ELV from radiation-exposed cheek skin tissue is one of the secreted factors that prevent hair follicle loss after high-dose radiation. 相似文献

We report a patient with calcification of the convexity dura mater and an acute epidural haematoma. CT revealed a calcified layer between the haematoma and brain parenchyma, which mimicked acute bleeding into a calcified chronic subdural haematoma. The appearance of a calcified haematoma does not always mean a chronic lesion, and that emergency operation should not be foregone, when there is a history of acute head trauma and progressive impairment of consciousness. 相似文献

A 41-yr-old patient with non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM), before and after ABO-incompatible renal transplant, is reviewed using serial protocol biopsy. Although she recovered from delayed hyperacute rejection (DHAR) immediately post-transplantation, her graft function deteriorated gradually. A mild acute transplant glomerulitis, noted at the 155th day post-transplantation, progressed to pronounced chronic transplant glomerulopathy over 5 yr. In the specimen of the last biopsy, at 5 yr post-transplantation, glomeruli demonstrated an exudative hyaline lesion, which was characteristic of diabetic nephropathy in addition to chronic transplant glomerulopathy. Therefore, we made a diagnosis of this glomerular lesion as chronic transplant glomerulopathy complicated by diabetic glomerulopathy. Considering the result of this case, the protocol biopsy is a useful procedure to diagnose an accurate cause of graft dysfunction in individual cases. It is concluded that the protocol biopsy is apparently useful for the detection of various pathological processes occurring in allograft and may contribute to a strategy for improvement of graft survival. 相似文献

The antitumor effects of vitamin K2 were studied using three glioma cell lines: C6 (rat glioma cell), RBR17T and T98G (human glioma cell). The antitumor effects were estimated by count assay. The results was that vitamin K2 induced growth inhibition in a dose-dependent manner. The RBR 17T cells exposed to vitamin K2 for 72 hours resulted in oligonucleosomal DNA fragmentation and formed a ladder on agarose gel electrophoresis. Furthermore, the RBR17T cells exposed to vitamin K2 for 24 hours were significantly accumulated in the G0G1 phase of the cell cycle. Those results suggested that vitamin K2 can inhibit the proliferation of cells through the induction of cell cycle arrest and apoptosis for tumor cells. The combined treatment of vitamin K2 with ACNU or 5-FU or INF-beta or 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 enhanced growth inhibition significantly. In conclusion, vitamin K2 can be a useful drug for the treatment of glioma. 相似文献

The proliferative potential of six primary ovarian carcinoids with different clinical outcome and histogenetic origin was examined immunohistochemically. The results showed that two cases with extremely high level of proliferative activity were associated with metastatic spread. In the remaining tumors, the examined factor was found to be at low level comparable with excellent prognosis of typical carcinoids in other locations. The preliminary results showed a possibility of a prognosis prediction according to typing of the ovarian carcinoids into two categories, i.e., tumors of low and intermediate malignancy. Topoisomerase II-alpha and Ki-67 are suitable markers giving valuable information about this phenomenon. 相似文献

Haemodynamic effects of saline-extracted venom from nematocysts isolated from tentacles of the box-jellyfish Chiropsalmus quadrigatus (Habu-kurage) were investigated. In anaesthetized rabbits, i.v. injections of the venom produced hypotension following a transient hypertension. Mean femoral arterial blood flow markedly decreased immediately after the injection and femoral vascular resistance increased. Left ventricular dP/dt remarkably decreased after a transient and small increase, and heart rate decreased. Left ventricular end-diastolic pressure markedly elevated. All of the above changes by 0.2-5 microg/kg of the venom expressed as the amount of protein were seen dose-dependently and occurred without tachyphylaxis. In five of seven animals received an injection of the venom at 10 microg/kg, irreversible cardiac arrest occurred. Changes produced by 1 or 2 microg/kg of the venom were significantly attenuated either by heating the venom at 40 degrees C for 10min or by pretreatment with diltiazem. These results indicate that the venom from Habu-kurage has both vasoconstrictor and cardiodepressive effects, and suggest that these thermolabile actions may be due partly to activation of voltage-dependent calcium channels and probably subsequent calcium-overload. 相似文献

Background This retrospective study analyzed the outcome in patients with intracranial germ-cell tumors to determine whether tumor response
during radiation therapy can predict achievement of primary local control with radiation therapy alone.
Methods Between 1983 and 1993, 22 patients with untreated primary intracranial germ cell tumors received a total whole brain radiation
dose of between 18 Gy and 45 Gy (mean 31.3 Gy) with or without a localized field of 10 to 36.4 Gy (mean, 22.4 Gy), or local
irradiation only (1 patient). In 10 patients with pineal tumor only, who were treated first with radiation therapy, tumor
response to radiation therapy was evaluated using computed tomography (CT) (at baseline, and approximately 20 Gy and 50 Gy).
Areas of calcification in the tumor were subtracted from total tumor volume. Follow-up time ranged from 2 to 12 years.
Results Five-year actuarial survival rates for patients with germinoma were 71%, 100% for patients with a teratoma component, and
100% for patients without histologic verification. Patients with germinomas or tumors suspected of being germinomas who were
given more than 50 Gy had no local relapse. There was no correlation between primary local control by radiation therapy alone
and initial tumor volume. The rate of tumor volume response to irradiation assesed by CT was significantly different in those
patients who relapsed compared to those who did not relapse
Conclusion Tumor response during radiation therapy using CT was considered to be predictive of primary local control with radiation therapy
