Recent studies indicate that innate immunity in influenza virus infection is an area of substantial importance for our understanding of influenza virus pathogenesis, yet our knowledge of the mechanisms controlling innate immunity remains limited. Further delineation of the roles of NK cells and innate immunity in viral infection may have important implications for the development of improved influenza virus vaccines. In this study, we evaluated the phenotype and function of NK and T lymphocytes, as well as influenza virus-specific immunoglobulin G production, prior to and following vaccination with the routinely administered trivalent influenza virus vaccine. We demonstrate influenza virus antigen-specific innate and adaptive cellular responses and evaluate changes in NK cell receptor expression over time. Our results demonstrate increased innate and adaptive cellular immune responses and show that NK cells are a significant source of gamma interferon (IFN-γ) following influenza virus vaccination. An increase in the frequency of IFN-γ-producing NK cells was observed in many subjects postvaccination. The subset distribution with respect to CD56dim and CD56bright NK cell subsets remained stable, as did the NK cell phenotype with respect to expression of cell surface activating and inhibitory receptors. These results may form the basis for further investigations of the role of NK cells in immunity to influenza.  相似文献

We investigated the association of HLA class II alleles and haplotypes with sickle cell anemia vaso-occlusive crisis (VOC). DRB1*100101 was positively associated, while DRB1*140101, DRB1*150101, and DQB1*060101 were negatively associated, with VOC. Both susceptible (DRB1*100101-DQB1*050101) and protective (DRB1*110101-DQB1*030101 and DRB1*150101-DQB1*060101) haplotypes were identified, indicating that HLA class II haplotypes influence VOC risk.  相似文献

Tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) −308 G/A and lymphotoxin alpha (LTα) +249 A/G single-nucleotide polymorphisms were investigated in 228 type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) patients and 240 controls. Only LTα +249G allele and +249G/+249G genotype frequencies were higher among patients, and no linkage disequilibrium was found between TNF-α/LTα alleles and susceptible/protective DRB1-DQB1 haplotypes. TNF-α/LTα T1DM-susceptible (−308G/+249G) and protective (−308G/+249A) haplotypes were identified.  相似文献

ObjectivesTo evaluate the effect of orthodontic appliances on physicochemical, biochemical, and oxidative stress changes in salivary parameters during treatment.Materials and MethodsA cohort study was conducted with 112 healthy patients. Salivary samples were taken at baseline, 1 month, and 9 months after placement of the orthodontic appliances used in treatment.ResultsA statistically significant difference was observed in certain examined salivary parameters, including enzymes, electrolytes, and oxidative stress markers.ConclusionsThe use of aligners had a lower prevalence of disturbing salivary parameters. Background

adrenal tumor-to-liver uptake value (Tmx:Lmx) on 18F-FDG PET/CT is an accurate and reproducible PET parameter in the distinction between benign and malignant adrenal masses. The potential impact of steroid hormone secretion on 18F-FDG uptake is still debatable. The aim of this study was to evaluate this relationship.

Methods

2010–2015: 73 patients who underwent adrenalectomy for adrenocortical tumors [49 secreting/(SA) and 24 non-secreting/(NSA)] were retrospectively included in the study. Fourteen were malignant. All patients underwent hormonal evaluation, functional and anatomical imaging, Weiss scoring and Ki 67 evaluation.

Results

malignant tumors exhibit higher SUVmax than benign tumors (median 7.75 vs 3.06 respectively, p?<?0.001) and Tmx:Lmx was 2.7 vs 1.17 for benign tumors, p?<?0.001.Tmx:Lmx was positively correlated to Weiss score (p?<?0.001).No significant difference was observed for Tmx:Lmx between SA and NSA overall (p?=?0.851), regardless of the subgroup of tumors analyzed. Tmx:Lmx was not correlated to tumor size (p?<?0.508) or 24?h free urinary cortisol level (p?<?0.522).

Conclusions

no correlation was observed between Tmx:Lmx and hormonal status, however the correlation between ratio, malignancy and Weiss score confirm the utility of 18F-FDG PET/CT for the differentiation of benign from malignant adrenal lesions, irrespective of the hormone secretory status of the tumor. 18F-FDG PET/CT is a useful biomarker in the diagnosis of adrenal tumors, regardless of the secretion status.  相似文献
