In this study, a UV-curable acrylate epoxy nanocomposite coating has been prepared by incorporation of ZnO–Ag hybrid nanoparticles. For this purpose, firstly ZnO–Ag hybrid nanoparticles were fabricated by a seed-mediated growth method. Then, these ZnO–Ag hybrid nanoparticles (2 wt%) were added into the UV-curable acrylate resin matrices. The photocuring process of nanocomposite was evaluated by various factors, such as the conversion of acrylate double bonds, pendulum hardness and gel fraction. Under the 4.8 s UV-exposure time for full crosslinking, the obtained data indicated that incorporation of ZnO–Ag nanohybrids into the coating matrix changed the crosslinking process of coating significantly. A mechanical teat indicated that the presence of nanohybrids in photocurable coating matrix enhanced its abrasion resistance from 98.7 to 131.6 L per mil (33.3%). The antibacterial test against E. coli over 7 h indicated that E. coli bacteria were killed totally by nanocomposite coating, whereas it was 2.6 × 104 CFU mL−1 for the neat coating without nanoparticles.

ZnO-Ag hybrid nanoparticles were fabricated by seed-mediated growth method and incorporated into the UV-curable acrylate resin matrice to form a composite. This improved the mechanical property of UV-cured coating and exhibited high antibacterial activity against E. coli.  相似文献

Zeolitic imidazolate framework ZIF-8, a type of metal–organic framework, has diverse applications in multiple catalytic fields due to its outstanding properties. Herein, ZIF-8 photocatalysts with three different morphologies (dodecahedral, pitaya-like, and leaf-like) are successfully synthesized under ambient conditions from zinc salts by altering the volume ratio of methanol and water used as a solvent. The as-synthesized ZIFs have high crystallinity with distinct BET surface areas. The experiments indicate that the ZIFs have high photocatalytic efficiency, in which the leaf-like structure (ZIF-8-F3) is the most efficient in the degradation of reactive black KN-B dye (RB5) under 365 nm UV irradiation. This is due to the efficient inhibition of electron–hole recombination or the higher migration of charge carriers in ZIF-8-F3, thus producing more reactive oxygen species, resulting in greater photocatalytic efficiency. At pH = 11, more than 95% of RB5 is degraded within 2 hours when using 1.0 g L−1 of ZIF-8-F3. Besides, the photocatalytic and kinetic performances of ZIF-8-F3 are also investigated by optimizing the pH, initial RB5 concentration, and dosage of the used catalyst. These ZIF-8-F3 plates have been shown to be a promising material with high photostability and effective reusability, beneficial to various potential applications in environmental remediation issues.

UV light responsive ZIF-8 photocatalysts with three morphologies were prepared via a green one-step method, and exhibited excellent degradation of KN-B dye.  相似文献

Management of metastatic colorectal cancer has evolved in the last 10 years, with the availability of targeted therapies resulting in improvement in quality of life and overall survival. Cetuximab is a chimeric monoclonal antibody that binds to the EGF receptor, and the net effects are inhibition of tumor growth, invasion, angiogenesis and metastasis. Cetuximab binding to the EGF receptor is also known to augment the effects of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Only tumors expressing wild-type KRAS respond to cetuximab and improvements in progression-free survival and overall survival are seen, whereas patients with mutant KRAS are considered to be resistant. Cetuximab is currently available worldwide for use as monotherapy or in combination with chemotherapy in first-, second- or third-line settings in metastatic colorectal cancer patients with wild-type KRAS.  相似文献

Pancreatic islets are vital endocrine regulators of systemic metabolism, and recent investigations have increasingly focused on understanding human islet biology. Studies of isolated human islets have advanced understanding of the development, function, and regulation of cells comprising islets, especially pancreatic α- and β-cells. However, the multicellularity of the intact islet has stymied specific experimental approaches—particularly in genetics and cell signaling interrogation. This barrier has been circumvented by the observation that islet cells can survive dispersion and reaggregate to form “pseudoislets,” organoids that retain crucial physiological functions, including regulated insulin and glucagon secretion. Recently, exciting advances in the use of pseudoislets for genetics, genomics, islet cell transplantation, and studies of intraislet signaling and islet cell interactions have been reported by investigators worldwide. Here we review molecular and cellular mechanisms thought to promote islet cell reaggregation, summarize methods that optimize pseudoislet development, and detail recent insights about human islet biology from genetic and transplantation-based pseudoislet experiments. Owing to robust, international programs for procuring primary human pancreata, pseudoislets should serve as both a durable paradigm for primary organoid studies and as an engine of discovery for islet biology, diabetes, and metabolism research.  相似文献

PURPOSE: Anecdotal reports suggest that steeply fitted rigid contact lenses can induce corneal steepening and myopic shifts in refraction. This study investigated changes in corneal topography, corneal thickness, and refraction after short-term wear of apical clearance lenses. METHODS.: Ten young adults participated in the study in which apical clearance lenses (Conoid, Hydron Pty. Ltd., Frenchs Forest, NSW, Australia), fitted approximately 0.3 mm steeper than the flattest keratometric reading, were worn for 4 h. A polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) lens was worn in one eye, and a Boston XO lens (Bausch & Lomb, Rochester, NY) was worn in the other. Lenses were nonfenestrated in the first trial, and a single midperipheral fenestration was incorporated for a second trial. Corneal topography was monitored using the EyeSys topographic analysis system (EyeSys Vision, Inc., Houston, TX); central corneal thickness was quantified using ultrasonic pachometry; and refraction and anterior ocular response were also monitored. RESULTS: Significant central corneal edema (8.2 +/- 2.2%) was demonstrated in the PMMA lens-wearing eye only. Fenestration did not reduce the edema response. We found significant corneal steepening over a 5- to 6-mm central zone, which was more pronounced in the PMMA lens-wearing eye and was modified by lens fenestration. The curvature changes altered central corneal shape from prolate (Q = -0.06 +/- 0.10) to oblate (Q = -0.26 +/- 0.31). A slight myopic shift in refraction (-0.38 +/- 0.60 D) was found with the PMMA lenses only. CONCLUSIONS.: Apical clearance lenses induce corneal steepening after short-term wear. Although corneal molding is implicated as the primary factor driving the shape change, corneal edema and postlens tear film pressures can modify this response.  相似文献
