A skeletal seeking radiopharmaceutical labeled with a long-lived radionuclide was developed to evaluate regional bone formation and its subsequent resorption. The agent is [phosphonate (phenylmethylene hydroxy) bis]-I-125 or I-125 PA. Tissue distribution studies in mice (N=16) showed approximately 40% of the administered dose to be retained by the skeleton up to 336 hours post IV injection. The percentage of the dose accumulated by the thyroid gland remained at less than 0.5%, indicating minimal deiodination of the I-125 PA. Whole body retention studies in the same species revealed a triexponential release pattern with the longest component comprising 33% of the dose with a biologic half-life of 962 days. A fractured rat tibia model was studied with I-125 PA and Tc-99m MDP. Chronic loss of the I-125 PA relative to normal tibia was quantitated: five days (62.8%); 30 days (47.4%). Concomitant increased uptake of the Tc-99m MDP was observed at the fracture site relative to normal: five days (186%); 30 days (1,041%). The above data suggest that I-125 PA can be utilized to measure acute bone formation and chronic resorption. 相似文献

We describe an ultrahigh speed endoscopic swept source optical coherence tomography (OCT) system for clinical gastroenterology using a vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) and micromotor imaging catheter. The system had a 600 kHz axial scan rate and 8 µm axial resolution in tissue. Imaging was performed with a 3.2 mm diameter imaging catheter at 400 frames per second with a 12 µm spot size. Three-dimensional OCT (3D-OCT) imaging was performed in patients with a cross section of pathologies undergoing upper and lower endoscopy. The use of distally actuated imaging catheters enabled OCT imaging with more flexibility, such as volumetric imaging in the small intestine and the assessment of hiatal hernia using retroflex imaging. The high rotational scanning stability of the micromotor enabled 3D volumetric imaging with micron scale volumetric accuracy for both en face OCT and cross-sectional imaging, as well as OCT angiography (OCTA) for 3D visualization of subsurface microvasculature. Results are reported on the use of a commercial kit for the labeling of human serum albumin with 99mTc. One-hour blood levels obtained in 20 subjects undergoing gated cardiac imaging were found to be 46.0 +/- 10.5% (s.d.) of the administered dose. The highest labeling efficiencies (94.2 +/- 9.3%) were obtained when human serum albumin 25% (salt-poor) was used. Satisfactory nuclear cardiac ventriculographic images were obtained in patients receiving the radiopharmaceutical when the labeling efficiency was at least 85%. Occasional batches were milky in appearance, contained black particulate matter, were acidic, or contained a high percentage of unbound 99mTc activity. Although this kit makes 99mTc-human serum albumin accessible to most nuclear medicine facilities for general clinical use, an active quality control program is required prior to use in patients. 相似文献

A new radiographic technique produces a high quality image of the chest at end systole and end diastole in a single radiograph. A preliminary study of this method for evaluating various degrees of segmental asynergy of the left ventricular free wall in 25 patients with coronary artery disease showed excellent correlation with left ventriculography (r = 0.88). The method showed a high sensitivity (94%) and specificity (96%). It seems potentially useful to increase the information gained from the chest radiograph in patients with cardiac disease. 相似文献
