Data are presented of IgM detection by a neutralization test used routinely in 1,062 patients. Antigens isolated during the period of investigation were EV4, EV7, EV11, EV18, EV21, EV24, EV33, CA9, CB2, CB4, and CB5. No difference was observed in the distribution of IgM-positive sera according to age and sex. Total antibodies are at higher titres when IgM antibodies are present. Polytypic IgM responses are not frequent (less than 10%). The frequency of the IgM-positive sera for a given serotype correlated with the frequency of isolates for the serotype except for CA9. Other than for babies under age 6 months, IgM detection is more frequent than is isolation. The susceptibility of the elderly and the frequency of IgM-positive sera among adults over age 40 years suggests possible underestimation of enterovirus infections in adults. The duration of IgM remains a major question.  相似文献

Open in a separate window OBJECTIVESOur goal was to report our midterm results using imaging-assisted modalities with robotic segmentectomies for non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC).METHODSThis was a retrospective study of all robotic segmentectomies, with confirmed NSCLC, performed at our general and thoracic surgery unit in the Rouen University Hospital (France), from January 2012 through December 2019. Benign and metastatic lesions were excluded. Data were extracted from the EPITHOR French nationwide database.RESULTSA total of 121 robotic segmentectomies were performed for 118 patients with a median age of 65 (interquartile range: 60, 69) years. The majority had clinical stage T1aN0M0 (71.9%) or T1bN0M0 (13.2%). The mean (standard deviation) number of resected segments was 1.93 (1.09) with 80.2% imaging-assisted segmentectomies. Oriented (according to tumour location) or systematic lymphadenectomy or sampling was performed for 72.7%, 23.1% and 4.1% of patients. The postoperative course was uneventful for 94 patients (77.7%), whereas 34 complications occurred for 27 patients (22.3%), including 2 patients (1.7%) with Clavien-Dindo ≥III complications. The mean thoracic drainage duration was 4.12 days, and the median hospital stay was 4 days (interquartile range: 3, 5) after the operation. The 2-year survival rate was 93.9% (95% confidence interval: 86.4–97.8%). Excluding stage IV (n = 3) and stage 0 tumours (n = 6), the 2-year survival rate was 95.7% (95% confidence interval: 88.4–98.8%) compared to an expected survival rate of 94.0% according to stage-specific survival rates found in a large external reference cohort.CONCLUSIONSImaging-guided robotic-assisted thoracic surgery segmentectomy seems to be useful and oncological with good midterm results, especially for patients with early-stage NSCLC.  相似文献

TiO2 is a compound of great importance due to its remarkable catalytic and distinctive semiconducting properties. It is also a chemically stable, non-toxic and biocompatible material. Nano TiO2 is strong oxidizing agent with a large surface area and, hence, high photo-catalytic activities. With low production cost and a high dielectric constant, it is an inexpensive material. It can be prepared by diverse procedures such as solution and gas phase procedures. Nowadays, TiO2 is being used frequently for photo degradation of organic molecules and water splitting for hydrogen generation. Most important applications include purification, disinfection of waste water, self-cleaning coatings for buildings in urban areas and the production of the green currency of energy (hydrogen) by splitting water. The review describes the advances in the syntheses, properties and applications of TiO2 nano structures. Besides, efforts are also made to discuss the working mechanism and future challenges and perspectives.

Many mouse models of human enterovirus disease have been pro- posed, concerning both acute and persistent infection. However, rather paradoxically since the usual way of contamination is fecal-oral, most of them used a systemic route of infection. The aim of the present work was to follow the development of an experimental enterovirus infection and to study the viral persistence at the organ level. Twenty-eight female 3-week old BALB/c mice were infected with 5 x 10(4) TCID(50) of coxsackievirus B3 (CV-B3), Nancy strain, by oral route using a rigid cannula introduced into the stomach. The kinetics of infection was studied by sacrificing 2 animals at different times post infection (from 1 hour to 90 days). The presence of the virus in various organs (small intestine, heart, pancreas, lung, spleen, kidney, liver) was studied by cell culture and RT-PCR. As soon as one hour post infection, the virus was detected in the small intestine. In the heart, the virus was present at 24 and 48 hours post infection by RT-PCR and culture, respectively. At 5 days post infection, all the organs but the liver were found infected. The virus was detected up to 15 days in kidney, 21 days in pancreas, 30 days in lung and spleen, and 45 days in intestine, by both culture and PCR. The heart was still found infected 90 days post infection by both techniques. These results show the dramatic cardiotropism of CV-B3 inoculated by oral route, with a detection of the virus very soon in the course of infection (24 hours) and a persistence of the virus for more than 3 months. The intestine, the initial target of enterovirus infection, can also be considered as a site of viral persistence.  相似文献

Although the transmission of coxsackievirus B3 occurs mainly via the oral route, little is known about the primary replication and persistence of this agent in the intestine. To address this question, BALB/c mice were inoculated by gavage with coxsackievirus B3, Nancy strain. The mice were killed from 1 hr to 90 days after infection. The viral markers were detected in the small intestine using RT-PCR, cell culture and detection of VP1 protein. Coxsackievirus B3 was detected positive by the three methods from hr 2 to day 45 after infection. By using monoclonal antibodies directed towards VP1, CD40 and CD26, the virus was shown to be present in the lymphocytes of the mucosa as soon as 2 hr after infection; in contrast, no virus was detected in the epithelial cells lining the intestinal lumen. Further experiments were performed to evaluate the capacity of coxsackievirus B3 to establish a persistent infection in two intestinal cell lines. In contrast to HT29 cells, the CaCo-2 cells were shown to develop a persistent infection for up to 20 passages, as demonstrated by the detection of viral RNA and VP1 protein. This study provides further evidence that, after infection by the oral route, the viral particles are concentrated in the lymphocytes of the mucosal layer. In addition, the results suggest that coxsackievirus B3 is capable of establishing a persistent infection in the small intestine that may act as a reservoir of viral particles for the delayed spread of the virus to other target organs.  相似文献

In the last two decades, Klebsiella pneumoniae demonstrated some characteristics of acquisition of plasmids coding extended spectrum β-lactamases (ESBL). The review data showed an increase in worldwide prevalence of ESBL and a temporal shift in the prevalence of ESBL types in K.?pneumoniae during this last decade. CTX-M-15 seems to be the predominant ESBL type in K.?pneumoniae in some parts of the world. The dissemination of several nosocomial CTX-M-15-producing K.?pneumoniae clones was reported unlike the worldwide dissemination of a single virulent ST131 CTX-M-15 producing Escherichia coli clone. The diversity of plasmids carrying the bla(CTX-M-15) gene in K.?pneumoniae suggested the frequent transfer of this gene between different replicons. The acquisition of the bla(CTX-M-15) gene by K.?pneumoniae was probably occurred via horizontal transfer from E.?coli.  相似文献

The chemical composition of the essential oils extracted from some Tunisian Hypericum species and their larvicidal activity against Culex pipiens larvae were evaluated. The chemical compositions of the essential oils from the aerial plant parts were analyzed using gas chromatography–mass spectrometry. One hundred and thirty-four compounds were identified, ranging between 85.1 and 95.4 % of the oil's composition. The components were monoterpene hydrocarbons, oxygenated monoterpenes, sesquiterpene hydrocarbons, oxygenated sesquiterpenes, non-terpenic hydrocarbons, and others. The larvicidal activity of the essential oils was evaluated using a method recommended by WHO. Larvicidal tests revealed that essential oils from the Hypericum species have a significant larvicidal activity against C. pipiens, with LC50 ranging between 102.82 and 194.70 ppm. The most powerful essential oils against these larvae were Hypericum tomentosum and Hypericum humifusum samples, followed by the essential oil of Hypericum perforatum.  相似文献

This 1-year (September 2000 to August 2001) prospective study investigated the presence of hepatitis A virus (HAV) in the population of Monastir, Tunisia (86 serum samples), in the influents and effluents of two wastewater treatment plants, and in shellfish harvested in the coastal areas of Monastir, Bizerte and Sfax (January 2001 to May 2001). The virus was detected by RT-PCR using primers targeted at the VP3-VP1 region. An epidemic of HAV infection was observed during the winter months, with a peak in January. The presence of the virus was relatively constant in the influents and effluents of the wastewater treatment plants, and the virus was found in shellfish from the Monastir area during the months of January and February. The genotype IA strain was recovered most frequently from human serum and wastewater samples. The observation that the peak of the epidemic was during the winter months suggests that transmission of HAV is related to climatic factors and, presumably, to shellfish consumption.  相似文献

The enteroviruses (EV), RNA viruses belonging to the Picornaviridae family, have a high genetic variability due to the absence of the efficient proofreading and post replicative repair activities associated with the RNA polymerase. In the present work, we studied the genetic and the antigenic variability of ECHO virus types 11 (E11) and 30 (E30), which are the most isolated echoviruses serotypes in clinical and environmental samples. We established on the 3′ end of the VP1 gene, consensus sequences of E11 and E30 by alignment of 67 E11 and 247 E30 published sequences in GenBank. Our results of sequences comparison showed that the majority of the mutational sites are situated on the third nucleotide of the codon. These mutations were without consequence on the antigenic sequences of the VP1 protein. Thus, E11 and E30 have a high genetic variability (1/3 of the nucleotides are variable), but a relative antigenic conservation. The analysis of the intertypic antigenic variability between E11 and E30 was obtained by the alignment of the corresponding amino acids sequences relative to the N-terminal part of the VP1 protein. Two discriminating parts were highlighted, probably representing antigenic sites for neutralisation antibodies.  相似文献
