Cranial malignant fibrous histiocytomas are rare tumors. Most are hypervascular, destructive masses that are similar to other malignant lesions and to malignant fibrous histiocytomas found elsewhere in the body. We describe a myxoid malignant fibrous histiocytoma of the temporal bone, possibly of dural origin, with features that more closely resembled a meningioma at CT, MR imaging, and angiography. 相似文献

Effects of vancomycin and ofloxacin on rabbit ERG in vivo 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
The retinal toxicity of vancomycin and ofloxacin was studied by electroretinogram (ERG) before and after intravitreal injection in rabbits. Vancomycin is known to be effective on methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. A dose of 1mg vancomycin caused no ERG change for at least eight weeks after injection. The feature that ERG became non-recordable during one to four weeks after an intravitreal injection of 10mg vancomycin, with recovery of only the c-wave was conspicuous. A dose of 200 micrograms ofloxacin did not cause deterioration of the b-wave, the c-wave or the oscillatory potentials throughout the follow-up period up to eight weeks. Judging from the susceptibility of each ERG component to antimicrobials and taking into account the difference of vitreous volume between rabbits and humans, clinical doses of intravitreal single-shot injection should be less than 1mg for vancomycin and 200 micrograms for ofloxacin. 相似文献

Endotoxin-induced uveitis (EIU) in the rat: A study of inflammatory and immunological mechanisms 总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
Endotoxin-induced uveitis (EIU) can be produced by systemic injection of endotoxin (ET). It is not clear yet why exclusive ocular involvement occurs in this model. To clarify this question and to establish the sequence of inflammatory events, EIU was induced in Lewis rats by footpad injection of Salmonella ET. Ocular inflammatory response (anterior chamber cells and proteins), aqueous inflammation mediators (thromboxane B2, prostaglandin E2, leukotriene B4 and substance P) and MHC class 2 (Ia) antigen expression in the ciliary body were monitored for 72 hours. Thromboxane B2 was detected early in the aqueous humor, peaking already 1 hour after ET injection. Prostaglandin E2 & leukotriene B4 peaks and a second peak of thromboxane B2 were recorded 18 hours after ET-injection, at the time of maximal ocular inflammation. MHC-class 2 expression was first detected in the ciliary body stroma at the vascular level 6 hours after ET injection and was massively expressed in the ciliary body epithelium at 18 and 72 hours. It is hypothetized that ciliary body endothelium is particularly sensitive to the effect of ET and is the site of thrombocyte adherence. Vascular damage leads in succession to cellular infiltration, release of inflammation mediators and disruption of blood-ocular barrier. MHC-class 2 expression is a secondary phenomenon and is probably at the origin of additional tissue damage from immune effector mechanisms. 相似文献

A systematic examination was performed for environmental food contamination by Salmonella in poultry farms, broiler chickens, broiler processing plants and meat on the market. Salmonella was isolated from 219 of 1197 samples and the serotypes showed a wide distribution. (Table 1-1). S. hadar accounted for 37.1% (96) of all isolations (259). The contamination rate of broiler chickens on arrival at broiler processing plants is relatively low. However, in the broiler processing plants, containers, processing machinery, cooling water and slaughters were highly contaminated by Salmonella, S. hadar being the most prominent serotype in the plants. 64% of chicken meat on the market was contaminated by Salmonella, S. hadar being the second most prominent serotype. 11% of the pork and none of the beef or horseflesh was contaminated by Salmonella. These results indicate that poultry is the main source of S. hadar infection in humans. However, no S. hadar was isolated from cultures of 119 samples of feed for chickens from each delivery (Table 1-1). Thus, as the main source of infection by S. hadar of broiler chickens, an association with the feed seems to be ruled out. S. hadar was isolated at three of 18 poultry farms within Shizuoka Prefecture. Follow-up studies were performed at the three poultry farms which revealed that in two of them, Salmonella was completely eradicated on completion of disinfection. In the other one farm, which is still being disinfected, various strains of Salmonella including S. hadar still survived. We performed a chromosome analysis of 26 pediatric brain tumors, including 20 primitive neuroectodermal tumors (PNETs), 5 astrocytomas, and I immature teratoma. Specimens were treated with collagenase, placed in overnight or short-term cultures, and harvested for chromosome analysis. Numerical and/or structural abnormalities were noted in 14 of the 20 PNETs and 4 of the 5 astrocytomas. In 13 PNETs, so-called medulloblastoma in the cerebellum, an i(17q) was the most frequent structural abnormality, accounting for 30% (4/13). Double minute chromosomes (dmin) were observed in one tumor. Near-diploidy was demonstrated in three of these PNETs, hyperdiploidy in three, and near-tetraploidy in three. We could not find any correlation of these cytogenetic findings with the prognosis. In the remaining seven PNETs other than medulloblastoma, the karyotypes of five PNETs demonstrated a variety of numerical and structural abnormalities. As to the astrocytomas, losses of chromosomes 7 and 9 with dmin were observed in two, and structural abnormalities of chromosomes 1 and 17 were also observed in two tumors. In our limited cases, however, we could not find the same chromosome abnormalities that are well known in adult astrocytomas. A congenital immature teratoma showed hyperdiploidy with increased numbers of chromosomes 3, 6, and 12. We conclude that i(17q) is an important chromosome abnormality in medulloblastomas, and that the oncogenesis of pediatric astrocytomas might be different cytogenetically from that of adult astrocytomas. 相似文献

The concentration of ceftazidime was determined in the aqueous humor and the vitreous body of normal, vitrectomized and aphakic/vitrectomized eyes and in the serum of albino rabbits 1 h after intravenous injection of 100 mg/kg ceftazidime. The intravitreal ceftazidime concentration was low (0.1-0.2 microgram/ml) in normal eyes 1 h after intravenous injection, and high (8.7 +/- 8.5 micrograms/ml) in vitrectomized and aphakic/vitrectomized eyes when injected immediately after surgery. The ceftazidime concentration was also determined in the aqueous humor and the vitreous body of normal eyes and in the serum of albino rabbits 3, 6, 12, 24 and 48 h after intravitreal injection of 200 micrograms. The intravitreal ceftazidime concentration after intravitreal injection decreased exponentially for 12 h (half-life about 7.4 h). It decreased more slowly thereafter and remained at 13.0 micrograms/ml (mean) even 48 h after injection. This concentration exceeded the minimum inhibitory concentrations against common gram-positive and gram-negative organisms causing endophthalmitis. 相似文献

The effects of a novel immunosuppressant, FK 506, on the efferent limb of the immune response were studied in the experimental autoimmune uveoretinitis (EAU) in the rat, using two different treatment schedules. First, rats actively immunized with S-antigen were treated with FK 506 only after the onset of EAU. FK 506 (1 or 3 mg kg-1 day-1) reduced the intensity of EAU as compared to that of non-treated rats. Especially, a daily dose of 3 mg kg-1 completely suppressed further development of EAU. It is, therefore, suggested that FK 506 treatment is effective in suppressing the ongoing process of the immune response, even after the disease has been initiated. Second, FK 506 (0.3 mg kg-1 day-1) was given only to the recipient rats which received IRBP-sensitized lymphocytes. None of FK 506-treated recipients developed EAU, while all control recipients developed the disease approximately 4 days after the cell transfer. The immune responses of FK 506-treated rats in the two experiments were also significantly suppressed. The antibody levels to S-antigen, the antigen-specific proliferative responses of lymphocytes, and even the proliferative responses to Con A were markedly suppressed in the rats in which FK 506 was given only during the efferent limb of the immune response. 相似文献
