Extracorporeal heat treatment for devitalizing the tumour-infiltrated bone segment without destroying its regenerative potential was investigated for the purpose of immediate reimplantation of the resected bone. Effects of heat treatment on cell viability and bone inductive properties were studied in cultured tumour cells and animal models. Heat treatment at 65 degrees C for 30 to 120 minutes resulted in complete devitalization of cells, preserving osteogenetic properties of the allogenic bone implant in the rabbit. The results of the experiments indicate that this procedure has advantages in devitalizing the resected bone for its immediate reimplantation and justify clinical application. The clinical application of this heat treatment in 3 cases is presented. 相似文献

The effect of configuration factor (C-factor) on cavity adaptation was investigated in three compomer and one resin composite restorations. Eighty-four cylindrical dentin cavities (C-factor: approximately 2.5, 3.0 or 4.0) prepared on flat coronal dentin surfaces were filled with the materials in combination with their proprietary adhesive systems. Cavity adaptation was microscopically examined after 15 minutes storage in water at the top surface and at other four sites along the cavity walls. Additionally, indentation testing was performed for each material at 20 minutes and 24 hours after irradiation. Regression analysis revealed no relationship between C-factor and gap dimension in compomer restorations at any of the measuring sites, while a logarithmic relation was found only at the cavity floor of the composite fillings. All materials showed maturation of mechanical properties. The elastic component of the indentation was smaller in compomers than in the composite. It was concluded that C-factor had no influence on the cavity adaptation for compomer restorations. This might be due to reduced stress generation at the bonding interface caused by relatively low mechanical properties immediately after curing, less elasticity, and water absorption in compomers. 相似文献

The ability of oral microorganisms (Actinomyces viscosus, Bacteroides melaninogenicus, Veillonella alcalescens and Streptococcus mutans) to elicit cellular hypersensitivity in guinea-pigs was investigated by the macrophage migration inhibition test. All animals sensitized with these microorganisms, emulsified in oil adjuvant, yielded peritoneal cells which were significantly inhibited in migration by the homologous bacterial antigen. Fourteen 5-week-old male Sprague-Dawley rats were equally divided into two groups, sham-operated and gastrectomized. Tetracycline and calcein were given to label dentine. Four weeks after surgery, blood was collected for measurement of serum iron, calcium and parathyroid hormone (PTH) and the mandibles and maxillae were then removed. Sagittal sections of the maxilla or cross-sections of the mandible were prepared and examined. Backscattered electron images of the maxilla were taken and the iron content at the neck of incisors was measured by energy-dispersive X-ray. The dentine apposition rate in maxillary incisors was measured by fluorescence microscopy. Serum iron was significantly decreased, while PTH was significantly elevated without any change in the serum calcium in gastrectomized rats. Gastrectomy caused a gross loss of iron content in superficial enamel. The dentine apposition rate was significantly reduced by 30%. Both cortical and cancellous bone in the mandibula were significantly reduced. However, the total bone area in gastrectomized rats was similar to that in sham-operated rats. These results suggest that bone resorption was enhanced and dentine formation was reduced after gastrectomy. 相似文献

Effect of evaporation of primer components on ultimate tensile strengths of primer-adhesive mixture.

OBJECTIVE: The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the effect of evaporation of primer components on the ultimate tensile strength (UTS) of primer-adhesive mixtures. METHODS: The UTSs of 1:3 by weight primer-adhesive mixtures and of the pure adhesives (controls) were measured after 0-, 2-, 5-min and 24-h storage in a 37 degrees C oven for the three-step etch&rinse adhesive OptiBond FL (Kerr) and the two-step self-etch adhesive Clearfil SE (Kuraray). RESULTS: Evaporation of primer components increased with time for both adhesives investigated. OptiBond FL showed a higher evaporation of primer components than Clearfil SE at the 2-, 5-min and 24-h storage time. As compared to the pure adhesive, the UTS of the primer-adhesive mixture was lower after 0- and 2-min storage for OptiBond FL and after 0-, 2- and 5-min storage for Clearfil SE. The UTS of OptiBond FL was higher than that of Clearfil SE at the 0- and 2-min storage time, though there was no difference at the 5-min and 24-h storage time. SIGNIFICANCE: The degree of evaporation of primer components depended largely on the primer solvents employed. The significant decrease in UTS of adhesive resin when mixed with primer must be attributed to incomplete evaporation of primer components. This study investigated the differences of age distribution and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) pain between marrow edema and osteonecrosis in the mandibular condyle. Subjects consisted of 35 TMJs in 35 patients with abnormal bone marrow on MR images who were selected from a consecutive series of 527 patients with TMJ disorders. Proton density and T2-weighted MR images taken in the oblique sagittal and coronal planes were used to diagnose condylar marrow abnormalities and divide them into either edema or osteonecrosis. The differences in TMJ pain and age distribution for these two abnormalities were assessed with the one-sided Wilcoxon rank sum test with 0.05 alpha level. The degree of pain was higher in joints with marrow edema than in joints with osteonecrosis (p = 0.033). The mean age was higher in joints with osteonecrosis (p < 0.001). Our results suggest that there is more severe pain in TMJs with marrow edema of the mandibular condyle than in those with osteonecrosis. Since the patients with marrow edema have lower age, it also appears that marrow edema may be a precursor condition for osteonecrosis of the TMJ. 相似文献
