10 cases of contact allergy from the sunscreen Eusolex 8021 are reported. 5 patients were sensitized to a lipstick, 4 to a sunscreen cream, and 1 reacted to several cosmetic creams. Of 9 patients tested with the 2 ingredients of Eusolex 8021, 5 proved to be allergic to both (chemically unrelated) constituents: 4-isopropyl-dibenzoylmethane and 3-(4'-methylbenzylidene) camphor; 4 were allergic to 4-isopropyl-dibenzoylmethane only. Contact allergy to this recently introduced broad spectrum sunscreen may not be rare. The relevant literature is reviewed.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to determine the frequency of contact allergy and photocontact allergy to sunscreens. A consecutive series of 54 patients with suspected clinical photosensitivity were assessed. All had the same standardized photobiological investigation from January 1989 to December 1990, including patch tests and photopatch tests with 6 sunscreen agents. Oxybenzone was found to cause 4 cases of allergic contact dermatitis (with photoaggravation in 2), and 3 cases of photocontact dermatitis (13% of patients). This is probably due to the wide distribution of oxybenzone in sunscreens and other cosmetics, 2 patients with polymorphic light eruption and persistent light reactivity, respectively, were regular sunscreen users. Photobiological investigation is necessary to ensure accurate diagnosis, since sunscreen contact or photocontact allergy may simulate other photosensitivity eruptions.  相似文献

The patients sensitised to sunscreen agents who attended our Contact Dermatitis Clinic between February 1985 to March 1987 have been reviewed. 15 (5%) of 280 patients tested with sunscreens had positive reactions; 3 of them were allergic to more than one agent. The most frequent contact allergens were hydroxy methoxy methyl benzophenone (Mexenone) [6], followed by isopropyl dibenzoylmethane (Eusolex 8020/8021) [5], octyl dimethyl para-aminobenzoate (Escalol 507) [2], and one reaction each to butyl methoxy dibenzoylmethane (Parsol 1789), amyl dimethyl para-aminobenzoate (Escalol 506), and ethoxy ethyl-p-methoxy cinnamate (Givtan F). Positive photopatch tests were seen with isopropyl dibenzoylmethane, butyl methoxy dibenzoylmethane, para-aminobenzoate (PABA) and ethoxy ethyl-p-methoxy cinnamate, one reaction each.  相似文献

Not only hairdressers, but also their clients or home-users of hair cosmetic products may become sensitized to one of the product constituents. The present analysis addresses the question whether the pattern of sensitization is different in these 2 groups and includes female patients who consulted with the participating centres of the IVDK (http://www.ivdk.org) between 1995 and 2002, and in whom hair cosmetics have been considered as being causative of their contact dermatitis. Among these, 2 subgroups were identified: (i) patients, currently or previously working as hairdressers, diagnosed with occupational skin disease (H, n = 884) and (ii) patients who never worked as hairdressers, i.e. clients (C, n = 1217). Previous atopic eczema was twice as common among H, who were also much younger (median age 24 versus 46 in C). Analysis of sensitization frequencies and patterns showed the well-known decline of contact allergy to glyceryl monothioglycolate (GMTG) in H from 31.2% to 8.5%. Among the C, 1.7% were allergic to GMTG. Concerning p-phenylenediamine, a steady decline from 27.6% to 17.2% was observed in H, while no trend was found in C (12.6% and 16.6% in the first and the last 2-year period, respectively). Conversely, a very slight decline of p-toluenediamine sensitization was observed in H (from 29.5% to 24.8%), while at the same time a significant increase was noted in C (from 8.7% to 16.7%). A slighter increase was also noted with ammonium persulfate in C (3.1-6.8%), while the proportion of H sensitized remained largely constant at about 26%.  相似文献
