A case of inverted papilloma of the posterior urethra is reported. A 59-year-old male was admitted with the chief complaint of hematuria. Urethrogram revealed a small defect in the neck of the bladder. Endoscopic examination revealed a polypoid tumor on the stalk arising from prostatic urethra, and transurethral resection was performed. The patient has been subsequently followed up and there has been no evidence of recurrence. Although 141 cases of inverted papilloma have been reported in many anatomical sites of the urinary tract, only 19 cases involving the posterior urethra have been described in Japan. This is the 20th case of a posterior urethra.  相似文献

A 59-year-old male with a complaint of gross hematuria was found to have a pedunculated and non-papillary tumor on the prostatic urethra. The tumor was resected transurethrally. The pathological finding was inverted papilloma. Although the majority of the cases of inverted papilloma have been found in the bladder, we reported the 32nd case located on the prostatic urethra in Japan.  相似文献

A 43-year-old man presented with left hydronephrosis, incidentally found by ultrasonography. He had undergone transurethral bladder tumor resection when he was 29 years old. Cystoscopy revealed a tumor protruding from the left ureteral orifice. Left partial ureterectomy was performed, and its histopathological diagnosis was ureteral inverted papilloma. He has remained free of disease for 18 months after the surgery.  相似文献

A case of urethral condyloma acuminatum is reported. A 77-year-old man was admitted to Konan Hospital to undergo surgery for benign prostatic hyperplasia. By urethrography and urethroscopy, a circumferential papillary lesion was disclosed in the posterior urethra extending from the membraneous urethra. Transurethral resection was performed on July 19, 1989. Pathohistological diagnosis was condyloma acuminatum/condyloma acuminatum in which the antigen of papilloma virus was detected by PAP stain.  相似文献

Aim: A case-report on adenoma of the posterior urethra. Methods: In 131 cases of adenoma of the poste rior urethra, aged 17 - 79 (mean: 36.4) years, a detailed medical history was taken and urinalysis, urethroscopy, and prostatic specific antigen (PSA) immunohistochemical staining were performed. They were then treated with transurethral resection (TUR) or transurethral electric coagulation (TUEC). Results: Hemospermia occurred in 51% of the cases, hematuria in 38%, blood overflow from the urethral orifice in 6%, and dysuria in 5%. The position of the tumor was at or around the verumontanum. The appearance of the tumor was similar to those of a papilla, a villus, a dactyl or polyp, or simply an engorgement. The tumor contained glandular alveoli and adeno-epithelial cells. PSA immunohistochemistry was positive in the cytoplasm and nucleus of the adeno-epithelial cell. One hundred and tweenty-nine cases were cured after TUR or TUEC, while 2 patients recurred and were operated again. Conclusion: Adenoma of the posterior urethra is a common cause of hemospermia and hematuria in young men. Urethroscopic examination and biopsy are the principal diagnostic measures. TUR or TUEC are believed to be the treatment of choice with a short-term recurrence rate of around 1.5%.  相似文献

A 70-year-old female with inverted papilloma of the ureter is presented. She was hospitalized because of asymptomatic macrohematuria. Excretory urography and retrograde pyelography demonstrated a filling defect with smooth contour at the mid-portion of the right ureter. Abdominal computer tomographic (CT) scan showed mass lesion (CT number 41) at the same portion as the filling defect. She was diagnosed as having an ureteral tumor and right nephroureterectomy was performed. The gross specimen contained a 24 X 12 mm, polypoid, pedunculated and smooth-surfaced tumor. Pathological diagnosis was inverted papilloma. However, microscopic examination revealed a malignant finding corresponding to transitional cell carcinoma grade 1. From the Japanese and foreign literature, 25 cases of ureteral inverted papilloma were collected and are reviewed. Clinical and pathological features are discussed.  相似文献

A 29-year-old man noted a wart around the external urethral orifice. The lesion was diagnosed as condyloma acuminata and he had the tumor excised and circumcision on September 10, 1985. He complained of urethral bleeding on December 21, 1985. Physical and endoscopic examination revealed papillo-granular condyloma acuminata at the distal urethra. He received transurethral fulguration on January 17, 1986 and intraurethral instillation of 5-fluorouracil cream weekly. The lesions were successfully treated.  相似文献

We report a case of leiomyoma of the female urethra and a review of the literature. A mass protruding from the urethral meatus caused voiding difficulty and dysuria. Uroflowmetry showed an obstructive pattern with low maximum urine flow. Cystourethroscopy revealed a mass arising from lateral urethral wall extending from meatus up to 2 cm proximally. Histopathological studies confirmed urethral leiomyoma. Surgery completely resolved the original symptoms.  相似文献

Inverted papilloma of the ureter is a rare entity, often mistaken for malignancy during work-up. As such, many of these patients have been unnecessarily treated with nephroureterectomy. Herein, we describe a novel laparoscopic approach for the treatment of a ureteral inverted papilloma. To our knowledge, this approach is the first application of laparoscopy for the treatment of this lesion.  相似文献

Two men with inverted papilloma of the prostatic urethra are reported. Case 1 was a 67-year-old man with complaints of gross hematuria and urinary retention. Urethroscopy revealed a smooth-surface tumor with a stalk at the prostatic urethra. Case 2 was a 76-year-old man with complaints of gross hematuria and urinary retention. In these cases, the tumors were resected transurethrally and were consistent with inverted papilloma histopathologically.  相似文献

The inverted papilloma is a rare urothelial tumor, and its localization at the prosthatic urethra is also exceptional. We present a case of inverted papilloma of the prostatic urethra in a 72 years-old male, with symptoms of urinary flow obstruction. The diagnose is obtained after urethrocistoscopy and transurethral resection at the same time. We discuss about the etiology, clinical presentation, diagnose and treatment of this rare tumor, making special attention to its malignancy ability.  相似文献

A case of inverted papilloma with subsequent heterotopical recurrence of inverted type transitional cell carcinoma is reported. A 24-year-old man had a medical examination of our hospital with chief complaint of asymptomatic macroscopic hematuria on October 23, 1982. Cystoscopy revealed a smooth surfaced and finger-tip sized tumor at the bladder neck. Because of the large bulk and the location of the tumor, the tumor was resected through cystotomy. After histological examination, the tumor was diagnosed as inverted papilloma. Cystoscopy was repeated every 3-6 months. The tumor recurred 4 times heterotopically, 19, 35, 43 and 53 months after the initial surgery. The pathological examinations of these tumor specimens showed transitional carcinoma mostly of inverted growth. Most of the urologists and pathologists believe inverted papilloma to be a benign neoplasm, but several reports and this case suggest the possibility of recurrence and malignant transformation of inverted papilloma.  相似文献

Choroid plexus papillomas represent approximately 0.5% of all intracranial tumors, but they are found in the third ventricle only infrequently. We report a case of choroid plexus papilloma in the third ventricle which is difficult to differentiate from a pineal region tumor. A 4-month-old female presented with bulging fontanelle and sunset phenomenon. A CT scan and MRI showed marked hydrocephalus caused by a tumor extending from the posterior third ventricle to the peneal body. Preoperatively, we diagnosed the lesion as a pineoblastoma. The tumor was totally removed through the occipital transtentorial approach. Pathological examination of the tumor revealed a typical choroid plexus papilloma. The operation was uneventful, and she has grown normally without recurrence of the tumor for three years since the operation. A sagittal gadolinium-enhanced MRI was useful in our case to differentiate a choroid plexus papilloma from a pineal region tumor, because the former extended into the aqueduct forming the shape of the letter V while the latter compressed the aqueduct downward.  相似文献
