Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) of the lip is uncommon relative to other cutaneous sites for BCC, such as the central face or scalp. A female predisposition and predilection for the upper lip have been previously documented. A retrospective analysis of patients treated for BCC of the lip was undertaken within the department of Radiation Oncology, Westmead Hospital, Sydney. Twenty patients were identified; 12 women and 8 men. The majority (15/20) had T1 lesions of the upper lip (17/20). Eleven patients were referred for radiotherapy alone and nine for adjuvant radiotherapy following either incomplete excision or local recurrence. With a mean follow up of 36 months no patient has recurred following either definitive or adjuvant radiotherapy. Despite the majority of BCCs of the lip being amenable to surgery fractionated external beam radiotherapy remains an option especially when functional and/or cosmetic concerns are an issue. We present the findings from this small case series and use our findings to illustrate the role of radiotherapy in treating BCC of the lip. 相似文献

Basal cell carcinomas may attain giant proportions due primarily to recurrence or because the tumour is neglected. We report the case of a 66-year-old man who presented with a bleeding, polypoid, cutaneous tumour located on the left shoulder region of 13 years duration. The man had not received any previous treatment. The lesion was biopsied and histopathologically diagnosed as a solid type basal cell carcinoma with focal areas of squamous differentiation and keratinization. The man refused complete surgical removal and therefore was treated with roentgentherapy, with satisfactory results and no complications in the irradiated area. No recurrences had manifested after 1 year follow-up. 相似文献

Carcinoma of the cervix is a common neoplasm. Early detection and improved treatment techniques have resulted in better control of cancer and longer survival, however, invasive and metastatic disease still occur. Cervical cancer usually spreads through direct local extension and via the lymphatics, haematogenous metastasis is relatively infrequent and cutaneous metastases are very rare. Metastasis to the scalp is extremely rare and only three cases of scalp metastasis from cervical cancer have been reported in the literature. We now report a patient with cervical cancer who presented with metastasis to this very unusual site. 相似文献

BACKGROUND: Several risk factors are generally accepted to portend more aggressive behavior of cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma. These include tumor size, tumor depth, histologic subtype, location on the lip or ear, tumor arising in scar, recurrent tumor, and tumor demonstrating perineural invasion. Organ transplant recipients can have significant morbidity and mortality from squamous cell carcinoma. OBSERVATIONS: Four organ transplant recipients developed metastatic disease from squamous cell carcinoma of the scalp. CONCLUSIONS: Squamous cell carcinoma of the scalp in organ transplant recipients should be considered a high-risk tumor because of its anatomic location. Margin-controlled tumor extirpation, sentinel lymph node biopsy, and adjuvant radiation therapy should all be considered in the organ transplant recipient population. 相似文献

Cutaneous collision tumours are the co-existence of two tumours of different histopathological morphologies that coincide at the same or adjacent anatomical sites. A large scalp nodule excised from a 70 year-old man revealed a collision tumour composed of cells of squamous carcinoma (SCC) and malignant melanoma. Immunohistochemistry using dual staining for melanoma and squamous cell carcinoma demonstrated an unusual pattern; nests of melanoma cells surrounded by a layer of squamous carcinoma cells. The unique architecture observed in the case suggested a relationship between the two tumours. 相似文献

Primary cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is a malignant tumor that arises from keratinizing cells of the epidermis or its appendages. We present a patient with cutaneous SCC on the left instep with metastases to multiple lymph nodes in the para‐aortic, iliac and groin region. We chose a combination of surgery and concurrent chemoradiotherapy. The chemotherapeutic agent S‐1/cisplatin was selected based on results of the histoculture drug response assay. The patient responded dramatically to this multidisciplinary treatment and complete remission was achieved. 相似文献

Although the number of cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC) cases is increasing, the effectiveness of systemic therapy for the treatment of advanced cSCC is limited. Since cSCC possesses a high tumor mutation burden (TMB) compared to other cancer species, and since high TMB correlated with increased neoantigens and the efficacy of anti‐PD1 antibodies (Abs) in various cancers, cSCC could be a target for anti‐PD1 Abs monotherapy. In this report, we describe a case of unresectable recurrent cSCC of the scalp with meningeal invasion, but highly expressed programmed death‐ligand 1 (PD‐L1), treated with nivolumab monotherapy. 相似文献

We report the first two cases of squamous cell carcinoma successfully treated with imiquimod 5% cream as a monotherapy. Imiquimod is a new immunomodulating drug that is registered for genital HPV infection but has also shown good efficacy in several cutaneous malignancies. 相似文献
