The gene for vWF is located near the tip of the short arm of chromosome 12, being approximately 180 kb in length and consisting of 52 exons separated by 51 introns. The mature vWF subunit consists of 2 050 amino acid residues with molecular weight of about 250 ku.     

Wilson‘s Disease and Hepatic Transplantation

Summary: To investigate the changes in neurological symptoms and signs, as well as serum copper,serum ceruloplasmin after hepatic transplantation in patients with Wilson‘s disease, neurological symptoms and signs, serum copper, serum ceruloplasmin before and after hepatic transplantation in18 patients with Wilson‘s disease were observed, and those changes were followed up in 20 non-oper ative controls treated with penicillamine. Our results showed that the neurological symptoms and signs, serum copper and serum ceruloplasmin were improved in the operative group but deteriorated in the non-operative control group. Our study showed that hepatic transplantation is better than peni cillamine in the treatment of Wilson‘s disease.     

Kawasaki Disease on PDGF Expression and VSMC Proliferation

The effect of serum of patients with Kawasaki disease (KD) on expression of platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) B chain protein in vascular endothelial cells (VEC) was studied by immunocytochemical method. Meanwhile,the effects of the endothelial cell conditioned media (ECM) on expression of PDGF receptor mRNA in vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMC) and on cell cycle of VSMC were investigated by the methods of nucleic acid hybridization and flow cytometry (FCM). The results showed that the serum of patients with KD induced the expression of PDGF-B chain protein significantly. ECM significantly promoted the expression of PDGF receptor mRNA and induced the proliferation of VSMC. These data suggest that the activation of PDGF-PDGF receptor may play a role in the pathogenesis of coronary complication of KD.

Diagnosis and Treatment of Chronic Cough due to Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease

Gastroesophageal reflux disease is one of most common causes of chronic cough.Medical history offers few clues as to the cause of cough induced by this disease.24-h esophageal ph monitoring is considered as the most sensitive and specific test for the diagnosis.When it is unavailable or unsuitable,upper gastrointestinal endoscopy and barium esophagography can be used as an alternative examination.Combined multichannel intraluminal impedance and pH testing is promising because of its ability to detect nonacid reflux as well as acid reflux.Empiric therapy trial is a simple and cheap way to identify suspected patients.Drug therapy is effective in most of the patients,in which proton pump inhibitors is the most powerful.Antireflux surgery is the last choice,used only when intensive drug therapy fails.The definitive diagnosis of cough due to gastroesophageal reflux disease can be established only after cough improves or completely disappears with antireflux therapy.     

Comparison of CT and Fiberoptic Bronchoscopy in the Evaluation of Bronchial Disease

CT was compared to FB in 51 cases to study the value of CT for visualizing bronchial disease. CT finding was positive in 46 of 51, and suggested CT was closely correlated with FB. 3 of 5 with false negative were endobronchial lesions, 2 were submacosal diseases. By camparison, it was found conventional tomography was a useful method in diagnosing the bronchial disease.

Serum albumin in Down Syndrome with and without Alzheimer’s Disease

We investigated whether or not serum albumin concentrations in Down Syndrome were lower than those of a cohort of similarly moderately-to-severely-disabled institutionalised patients without Down Syndrome and, if so, whether or not this could be ascribed to the presence of liver disease. We also sought to determine the influence of Down Syndrome, age, liver disease, and Alzheimer’s Disease on the serum albumin concentration.     

Gestational Trophoblastic Disease Diagnosis and Treatment： An Analysis of 56 Cases

Objective To investigate the diagnosis and treatment of gestational trophoblastic disease （GTD）. Methods A retrospective review was conducted on 56 patients with GTD who under- went treatment in Ruijin hospital from January 2007 to December 2012. Their infor- mation of diagnosis, treatments, follow-up and efficacy were collected and analyzed Results Misdiagnosis rate was 41.1% （23/56）for the first time. Of 56 patients, 31 had direct curettage, 19 had curettage after trichosanthis （TCS） treatment, 3 had curettage after intervention treatment and 3 did not have curettage. Twenty patients with gesta- tional trophoblastic neoplasia （GTN） took fluorouracil＋vincristine＋dactinomycin （VCR ＋KSM＋5-FU） chemotherapy, but 2 of them changed to etoposide＋methotrexate＋acti- nomycetes streptozotocin-D＋cyclophosphamide＋vincristine （EMA-CO） chemo- therapy due to drug resistance. Three patients＂ with GTN took EMA-CO chemotherapy. Two patients with placental site trophoblastic tumor （PSTT） required surgeries, one took hysterectomy, another got mass and adnexectomy. Apart from 1 case who gave up treatment and was dead, all the other women went into remission from their diseases. Conclusion The diagnosis of trophoblastic disease rely on a comprehensive analysis. A reasonable choice of TCS or intervention can be effective and safe in treating GTD. Most patients with GTN could get complete remission by selecting the appropriate chemotherapy and surgery.
