In the present work, the microstructure and mechanical properties of Ti-6Al-4V alloy during multidirectional isothermal forging (MDIF) were systematically investigated. The evolution of the microstructure and texture of Ti-6Al-4V alloy during MDIF was studied using TEM and electron backscattered diffraction (EBSD). The experiment results showed that the grain size decreased with the increase in cumulative strain, especially in the easy deformation zone. After four deformation cycles, a homogeneous equiaxed grained microstructure with an average grain size of 0.14 μm was achieved. The texture changes of the alloy were studied in detail. After one cycle of MDIF, the texture was mainly composed of (0002) [0110], and the Euler angles were (8°, 30°, 30°). The density of texture decreased with the increase in loading cycle, but the dispersion of texture increased. After four cycles of MDIF, the non-basal texture (1010) <1102> texture was observed, and the Euler angles were (82°, 33°, 0°). The highest achieved mechanical properties for Ti-6Al-4V alloy in the MDIF condition were a yield strength 900 MPa, ultimate tensile strength of 921 MPa, and an elongation of 12.1% at room temperature. The increase in MDIF cycles improved the hardness of the alloy. The significant improvement in mechanical properties was attributed to the ultrafine-grained microstructure.  相似文献

The effect of solution treatment time on the microstructure and mechanical properties of aged the Mg-2.0Nd-2.0Sm-0.4Zn-0.4Zr (wt.%) alloy were investigated to give full play to the performance of the alloy. As the solution treatment time increased from 2 h to 12 h at 788 K, the grain size of the solution-treated alloy significantly increased, and the network-like β-Mg12(Nd, Sm, Zn) phase gradually dissolved into the α-Mg matrix. It should be noted that no obvious residual β phase can be observed when the solution treatment time was more than 8 h. After the solution-treated alloy was further aged at 473 K for 18 h, a large number of nanoscale precipitates were observed in the α-Mg matrix. The solution treatment time was 2 h, the α-Mg matrix mainly consisted of spherical-shaped and basal plate-shaped precipitates. Upon the increase of solution treatment time to 8 h, the key strengthening phases transformed from spherical-shaped precipitates and basal plate-shaped precipitates to prismatic plate-shaped β′ precipitates. The orientation relationship between β′ precipitates and α-Mg matrix was (1¯10)β // (11¯00)α and [112]β // the [224¯3]α. Further increasing of solution treatment time from 8 h to 12 h, the key strengthening phases mainly were still β′ precipitates. The solution treatment of aged alloy was carried out at 788 K for 8 h, which achieved optimal ultimate tensile strength (UTS) of 261 ± 4.1 MPa, yield strength (YS) of 154 ± 1.5 MPa, and elongation of 5.8 ± 0.1%, respectively.  相似文献

In this paper, the effect of Ca and Zr additions on microstructure and mechanical properties at room temperature of Mg-Sn alloys was investigated by comparison of Mg-3Sn (wt.%) (T3), Mg-3Sn-1Ca (wt.%) (TX31), and Mg-3Sn-1Ca-1Zr (wt.%) (TXK311) alloys under extrusion. The results show that the main phases of as-extruded T3 alloy were α-Mg and Mg2Sn phases, while the CaMgSn phase was formed and the precipitation of Mg2Sn phase was inhibited in the TX31 and TXK311 alloys due to the addition of the Ca element. Zr did not form intermetallic compounds with other elements but dissolved in the grains of the matrix and became nucleating particles. Incomplete dynamic recrystallization (DRX) occurred in all alloys during hot extrusion. The coarse rod-like and fine block-like mixed CaMgSn phase was observed in α-Mg matrix of as-extruded samples of the TX31 alloy, and the dispersed granular CaMgSn phase was observed in the TXK311 alloy. Ca inhibited the dynamic recrystallization behavior of the alloys, while Zr promoted the dynamic recrystallization behavior. All the as-extruded alloys exhibit typical fiber texture of {0001} basal//ED. With the addition of Ca and Zr elements, the particle stimulated nucleation (PSN) effect excited by the second phase particles gradually weakened the texture. TXK311 alloy has good comprehensive mechanical properties at room temperature, with tensile strength, yield strength, and elongation of 261 MPa, 244 MPa, and 11%, respectively, and the average grain size was 1.8 μm. Grain refinement and second phase dispersion strengthening are considered to play critical roles in the strength optimization of the TXK311 alloy.  相似文献

The microstructure and mechanical properties of a Mg-6Al-1Zn-0.9Sn alloy processed by equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) at temperatures of 250 °C and 300 °C were investigated. It was found that the refinement of the microstructure was very dependent on the processing temperature. The main reason for the difference in grain refinement was the precipitation of secondary-phase particles. Texture information obtained by electron back-scatter diffraction (EBSD) showed the gradual formation of a 45° texture during the ECAP process, while the maximum intensity was different for processing temperatures at 250 °C and 300 °C. By calculating the contribution from different strengthening mechanisms, it was found that a 45° texture had a huge influence on grain boundary strengthening and thus the yield strength.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to develop a new Al–Mg–Si–Zr alloy with a high magnesium content to achieve a wide range of mechanical properties using heat treatment and at a lower cost. Additive manufacturing was conducted using a powder bed fusion process with various scan speeds to change the volumetric energy density and establish optimal process conditions. In addition, mechanical properties were evaluated using heat treatment under various conditions. The characterization of the microstructure was conducted by scanning electron microscopy with electron backscatter diffraction and transmission electron microscopy. The mechanical properties were determined by tensile tests. The as-built specimen showed a yield strength of 447.9 ± 3.6 MPa, a tensile strength of 493.4 ± 6.7 MPa, and an elongation of 9.6 ± 1.1%. Moreover, the mechanical properties could be adjusted according to various heat treatment conditions. Specifically, under the HT1 (low-temperature artificial aging) condition, the ultimate tensile strength increased to 503.2 ± 1.1 MPa, and under the HT2 (high-temperature artificial aging) condition, the yield strength increased to 467 ± 1.3 MPa. It was confirmed that the maximum elongation (14.3 ± 0.8%) was exhibited with the HT3 (soft annealing) heat treatment.  相似文献

In the present paper, the Mg-11Gd-2Y-1Zn alloys with different Al addition were fabricated by the gravity permanent mold method. The effect of Al content on microstructure evolution and mechanical properties of as-cast Mg-11Gd-2Y-1Zn alloy was studied by metallographic microscope, scanning electron microscope, XRD and tensile testing. The experimental results showed that the microstructure of as-cast Mg-11Gd-2Y-1Zn alloy consisted of α-Mg phase and island-shaped Mg3 (RE, Zn) phase. When Al element was added, Al2RE phase and lamellar Mg12REZn (LPSO) phase were formed in the Mg-11Gd-2Y-1Zn alloy. With increasing Al content, LPSO phase and Mg3 (RE, Zn) phase gradually decreased, while Al2RE phase gradually increased. There were only α-Mg and Al2RE phases in the Mg-11Gd-2Y-1Zn-5Al alloy. With the increase of Al content, the grain size decreased firstly and then increased. When the Al content was 1 wt.%, the grain size of the alloy was the minimum value (28.9 μm). The ultimate tensile strength and elongation increased firstly and then decreased with increasing Al addition. And the fracture mode changed from intergranular fracture to transgranular fracture with increasing addition. When Al addition was 1 wt.%, the maximum ultimate tensile strength reached 225.6 MPa, and the elongation was 7.8%. When the content of Al element was 3 wt.%, the maximum elongation reached 10.2% and the ultimate tensile strength was 207.7 MPa.  相似文献

The effects of rare earth element Sm on the microstructure, mechanical properties, and shape memory effect of the high temperature shape memory alloy, Cu-13.0Al-4.0Ni-xSm (x = 0, 0.2 and 0.5) (wt.%), are studied in this work. The results show that the Sm addition reduces the grain size of the Cu-13.0Al-4.0Ni alloy from millimeters to hundreds of microns. The microstructure of the Cu-13.0Al-4.0Ni-xSm alloys are composed of 18R and a face-centered cubic Sm-rich phase at room temperature. In addition, because the addition of the Sm element enhances the fine-grain strengthening effect, the mechanical properties and the shape memory effect of the Cu-13.0Al-4.0Ni alloy were greatly improved. When x = 0.5, the compressive fracture stress and the compressive fracture strain increased from 580 MPa, 10.5% to 1021 MPa, 14.8%, respectively. When the pre-strain is 10%, a reversible strain of 6.3% can be obtained for the Cu-13.0Al-4.0Ni-0.2Sm alloy.  相似文献

In order to clarify the microstructural evolution and the mechanical property of dissimilar friction stir-welded joints of ZK60 and Mg-4.6Al-1.2Sn-0.7Zn magnesium alloys, two types of arrangement with ZK60 at advancing side (AS) or retreating side (RS) were adopted. The macrostructure and the microstructure of the dissimilar welded joints were discussed, and the microhardness and the transverse tensile properties of the joints were measured. There are three stirring sub-zones with different compositions and two clear interfaces within the joints. Due to the effect of both the original grain size of base materials and the growth of recrystallized grains, in the stir zone (SZ), the grain size of ZK60 increased slightly, while the grain size of Mg-4.6Al-1.2Sn-0.7Zn decreased significantly. The dissolution of precipitates was gradually significant from RS to AS within the SZ due to the gradual increase in strain and heat. The grain refinement led to an increase in hardness, while the dissolution of precipitates resulted in a decrease in hardness. The performance of the joints obtained with ZK60 placed on the RS is slightly better than that of that on the AS. The tensile fracture of both joints occurred at the interface between SZ and the thermos-mechanical affected zone at the AS, and showed a quasi-dissociative fracture.  相似文献

In the present study, 8 mm-thick 5251 aluminum alloy was self-reacting friction stir welded (SRFSW) employing an optimized friction stir tool to analyze the effect of welding speed from 150 to 450 mm/min on the microstructure and mechanical properties at a constant rotation speed of 400 rpm. The results indicated that high-quality surface finish and defect-free joints were successfully obtained under suitable process parameters. The microhardness distribution profiles on the transverse section of joint exhibited a typical “W” pattern. The lowest hardness values located at the heat-affected zone (HAZ) and the width of the softened region decreased with increasing welding speed. The tensile strength significantly decreased due to the void defect, which showed mixed fracture characteristics induced by the decreasing welding speed. The average tensile strength and elongation achieved by the SRFSW process were 242.61 MPa and 8.3% with optimal welding conditions, and the fracture surface exhibited a typical toughness fracture mode.  相似文献

Hot extrusion forming is one of the best cost-effective processing methods to obtain high-strength aluminum alloys. In order to obtain high performance 2024 aluminum alloy for the aero and automobile industries, this research comprehensively uses heat treatment and reverse isothermal extrusion technology to prepare 2024 alloy. The effects of homogenization, extrusion and post-extrusion annealing treatment on the microstructure and mechanical properties of 2024 aluminum alloy were discussed in detail. The results indicate that the grain refinement of the extruded alloy material is significant. The coarse eutectic microstructure at the grain boundaries was refined, and these grains tended to be uniformly distributed after the annealing treatment. Extruded 2024 aluminum alloy material mainly has S (Al2CuMg) and Al7Cu2Fe second phases. The appearance of a large number of S phases led to a significant improvement in the properties of the alloy with an increase in tensile strength and elongation of 176% and 547%, respectively. In addition, EBSD analysis showed a significant meritocratic growth in the extrusion direction with the appearance of Copper {112} <111> rolling weaving, which led to process hardening and the strength improvement of the alloy.  相似文献

Magnesium alloys show broad application prospects as biodegradable implanting materials due to their good biocompatibility, mechanical compatibility, and degradability. However, the influence mechanism of microstructure evolution during forming on the mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of the magnesium alloy process is not clear. Here, the effects of rolling deformation, such as cold rolling, warm rolling, and hot rolling, on the microstructure, mechanical properties, and corrosion resistance of the WE43 magnesium alloy were systematically studied. After rolling treatment, the grains of the alloy were significantly refined. Moreover, the crystal plane texture strength and basal plane density decreased first and then increased with the increase in rolling temperature. Compared with the as-cast alloy, the strength of the alloy after rolling was significantly improved. Among them, the warm-rolled alloy exhibited the best mechanical properties, with a tensile strength of 346.7 MPa and an elongation of 8.9%. The electrochemical experiments and immersion test showed that the hot working process can greatly improve the corrosion resistance of the WE43 alloy. The hot-rolled alloy had the best corrosion resistance, and its corrosion resistance rate was 0.1556 ± 0.18 mm/year.  相似文献

The study of powder metallurgy processing methods for titanium represents a promising avenue that can respond to a growing demand. This work reports the feasibility of direct powder forging (DPF) as a method to process large spherical Ti-6Al-4V powder into wrought products with noteworthy properties and physical characteristics. Direct powder forging is a thermomechanical process that imparts uniaxial loading to an enclosed and uncompacted powder to produce parts of various sizes and shapes. Stainless steel canisters were filled with prealloyed Ti-6Al-4V powder and consolidated through a multi-step open-die forging and rolling process into wrought DPF bars. After DPF, annealing was performed in the upper α+β phase. The results show that full consolidation was achieved and higher mechanical properties than the Ti-6Al-4V grade F-23 requirements in annealed conditions were obtained. The results also show that direct powder forging of spherical titanium powder could produce wrought mill products and exhibit some potential for further investigation for industrial applications.  相似文献

The paper presents the results of study concerning the evaluation of the precipitation hardening parameters (temperatures and times of solution treatment and artificial ageing processes) having an effect on mechanical properties, and the change in the microstructure of the EN AC-AlSi11(Fe) alloy. Based on the obtained results and performed statistical analysis, regression equations and the response surface model in the form of spatial and contour plots were determined to illustrate the effects of solution treatment and artificial ageing parameters on the mechanical properties of the investigated alloy. The performed heat treatment had a positive effect on improving the mechanical properties of the alloy versus the initial state. The maximum increase in tensile strength was by 52%, in unit elongation by 56%, in Brinell hardness by 44% and impact strength by 88%. Furthermore, a favorable change was observed in the microstructure of the investigated alloy, especially regarding eutectic silicon precipitations, which underwent partial spheroidization and coagulation after the heat treatment.  相似文献

The effects of Zn and Cu addition on the microstructure and mechanical properties of the extruded Mg-3Sn-1Ca alloy were systematically studied. The effects of the grain size, texture, type and distribution of the second phase on the mechanical properties of the alloy were analyzed. The mechanical test results show that the addition of Zn and Cu elements can significantly improve the mechanical properties of the alloy. The as-extruded Mg-3Sn-1Ca-1Zn-1Cu alloy has the best comprehensive mechanical properties, and the UTS, YS and EL are 244 MPa, 159 MPa and 13.4%, respectively. Compared with the Mg-3Sn-1Ca alloy, the UTS and EL of the Mg-3Sn-1Ca-1Zn alloy are increased by 50 MPa and 132%, respectively. However, the UTS of the TXC311 alloy is increased by 55 MPa, but the ductility of the Mg-3Sn-1Ca-1Cu alloy is far less than that of the Mg-3Sn-1Ca-1Zn alloy, which is mainly attributed to the presence of a large amount of hard and brittle Mg2Cu phase in the alloy. Interestingly, the addition of Zn to Mg-3Sn-1Ca-1Cu alloy can improve the elongation of the alloy, which is due to the solid solution strengthening caused by the Zn element and the formation of small MgZnCu phase with Zn element and the consumption of Mg2Cu phase.  相似文献

The microstructural characteristics of biodegradable Mg alloys determine their performance and appropriateness for orthopedic fixation applications. In this work, the effect of the annealing treatment of a Mg-0.7Zn-0.6Ca (ZX11) alloy on the mechanical integrity, corrosive behavior, and biocompatibility-osteoinduction was studied considering two annealing temperatures, 350 and 450 °C. The microstructure showed a recrystallized structure, with a lower number of precipitates, grain size, and stronger basal texture for the ZX11-350 condition than the ZX11-450. The characteristics mentioned above induce a higher long-term degradation rate for the ZX11-450 than the ZX11-350 on days 7th and 15th of immersion. In consequence, the mechanical integrity changes within this period. The increased degradation rate of the ZX11-450 condition reduces 40% the elongation at failure, in contrast with the 16% reduction for the ZX11-350 condition. After that period, the mechanical integrity remained unchanged. No cytotoxic effects were observed for both treatments and significant differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells into the osteoblast phenotype was observed.  相似文献

In this study, 2A14-T4 Al-alloy T-joints were prepared via stationary shoulder friction stir welding (SSFSW) technology where the stirring pin’s rotation speed was set as different values. In combination with the numerical simulation results, the macro-forming, microstructure, and mechanical properties of the joints under different welding conditions were analyzed. The results show that the thermal cycle curves in the SSFSW process are featured by a steep climb and slow decreasing variation trends. As the stirring pin’s rotation speed increased, the grooves on the weld surface became more obvious. The base and rib plates exhibit W- or N-shaped hardness distribution patterns. The hardness of the weld nugget zone (WNZ) was high but was lower than that of the base material. The second weld’s annealing effect contributed to the precipitation and coarsening of the precipitated phase in the first weld nugget zone (WNZ1). The hardness of the heat affect zone (HAZ) in the vicinity of the thermo-mechanically affected zone (TMAZ) dropped to the minimum. As the stirring pin’s rotation speed increased, the tensile strengths of the base and rib plates first increased and then dropped. The base and rib plates exhibited ductile and brittle/ductile fracture patterns, respectively.  相似文献

Laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) is being increasingly used in the fabrication of complex-shaped structure parts with high precision. It is easy to form martensitic microstructure in Ti-6Al-4V alloy during manufacturing. Pre-heating the powder bed can enhance the thermal field produced by cyclic laser heating during LPBF, which can tailor the microstructure and further improve the mechanical properties. In the present study, all the Ti-6Al-4V alloy samples manufactured by LPBF at different powder bed temperatures exhibit a near-full densification state, with the densification ratio of above 99.4%. When the powder bed temperature is lower than 400 °C, the specimens are composed of a single α′ martensite. As the temperature elevates to higher than 400 °C, the α and β phase precipitate at the α′ martensite boundaries by the diffusion and redistribution of V element. In addition, the α/α′ lath coarsening is presented with the increasing powder bed temperature. The specimens manufactured at the temperature lower than 400 °C exhibit high strength but bad ductility. Moreover, the ultimate tensile strength and yield strength reduce slightly, whereas the ductility is improved dramatically with the increasing temperature, when it is higher than 400 °C.  相似文献

The aim of the paper is to describe and specify the properties and microstructure of Al-Si alloy using Zr, a combination of Zr with elements used in the grafting of Al (Ti) alloys, and modification (Sr). Al-Si alloys with a combination of Zr and Ti and Sr elements represent an opportunity for the development of new aluminum alloys with a specific use. The experiment focused on the analysis of the synergistic effects of Zr with Ti and Zr with Sr on a AlSi7Mg0.3Cu0.5 alloy. The experimental alloys contained a constant Zr content of 0.15 wt. % and were alloyed with a gradual addition of Ti and Sr in the range of 0.1 to 0.3 wt. % for Ti, and 0.1 to 0.3 wt. % for Sr. The experimental samples were cast by meltable model casting technology. In variants with a constant addition of Zr 0.15 wt. % and a gradual addition of Ti, we observed an increase in the values of mechanical characteristics, with a significant decrease in ductility. When evaluating the structure of experimental alloys, Ti affected it by increasing the number of precipitated Zr phases. Experimental alloys with Zr and Sr addition were characterized by nucleation of Zr phases in angular morphology. It can be concluded that the investigated elements are expected to have a positive (strengthening) effect even at higher operating temperatures.  相似文献

In the present study, 2198 Al-Cu-Li alloys were successfully friction stir welded by using various welding speed ranges of 90~180 mm/min with an invariable rotation speed of 950 r/min. The effect of welding speed on microstructure evolution and mechanical properties of the joints was investigated. The results show that, with the welding speed decreasing, the size of the nugget zone (NZ) first increases and then decreases due to different welding temperatures. At a welding speed of 150 mm/min, the size of the NZ in all joints is the biggest and the “S” curve disappears. The equiaxed grains are finer, attributed to a higher degree of dynamic recrystallization, and a larger number of fine reprecipitated phase (δ’, β’ phases) particles are dispersively distributed in the NZ. Correspondingly, the joints have the highest tensile properties, and the tensile strength, yield strength and elongation are, respectively, 406 MPa, 289 MPa and 7.2%. However, compared to the base material, the tensile properties of all joints are reduced because a greater amount of δ’ and β’ phases particles are dissolved in the NZ. Only the joints produced at 150 mm/min are fractured in the TMAZ with detected deep dimples and tearing ridges, and a significant necking phenomenon is observed, which indicates a complete ductile fracture mode.  相似文献

The effect of Zr addition on the melting temperature of the CoCrFeMnNi High Entropy Alloy (HEA), known as the “Cantor’s Alloy”, is investigated, together with its micro-structure, mechanical properties and thermomechanical recrystallization process. The base and Zr-modified alloys are obtained by vacuum induction melting of mechanically pre-alloyed powders. Raw materials are then cold rolled and annealed. recrystallization occurred during the heat treatment of the cold-rolled HEA. The alloys are characterized by X-ray diffraction, electron microscopy, thermal analyses, mechanical spectroscopy and indentation measures. The main advantages of Zr addition are: (1) a fast vacuum induction melting process; (2) the lower melting temperature, due to Zr eutectics formation with all the Cantor’s alloy elements; (3) the good chemical alloy homogeneity; and (4) the mechanical properties improvement of re-crystallized grains with a coherent structure. The crystallographic lattice of both alloys results in FCC. The Zr-modified HEA presents a higher recrystallization temperature and smaller grain size after recrystallization with respect to the Cantor’s alloy, with precipitation of a coherent second phase, which enhances the alloy hardness and strength.  相似文献
