Background Context
Common data elements (CDE) represent an important tool for understanding and classifying health outcomes across settings. Although CDEs have been developed for a number of disorders, to date CDEs for lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS) have not been fully developed. To facilitate the identification of CDEs and measures to assess them, this technical study leverages the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF), peer-reviewed research, and a panel of experts to identify CDEs specific to LSS.Purpose
The study aimed to define CDEs for disease characteristics and outcomes of LSS using the World Health Organization's ICF taxonomy, and to facilitate the selection of assessment instruments for research and clinical care.Design
This is a scoping review using a modified Delphi approach with a technical expert panel composed of clinicians and scientists representing the academia, policy and advocacy stakeholders, and professional associations with expertise in LSS.Methods
This is a scoping review to identify measures that assess LSS symptoms. Thirty-one subject matter experts (SMEs) prioritized ICF codes and evaluated instruments measuring specific domains. We used a modified Delphi technique to evaluate item-level content and achieve consensus.Results
SMEs prioritized 53 ICF codes; 3 received 100% endorsement, 27 received ≥90% endorsement, whereas the remaining 23 received ≥80% endorsement. Prioritized ICF codes represent diverse domains, including pain, activities and participation, and emotional well-being. The review yielded 58 instruments; we retained 24 for content analysis.Conclusions
The retained instruments adequately represent the ICFs activities and participation, and body function domains. Body structure and environmental factors were assessed infrequently. Adoption of these CDEs may guide clinical decision making and facilitate comparative effectiveness trials for interventions focused on LSS. 相似文献2.

Background
Research suggests that people with lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS) would benefit from increased physical activity. Yet, to date, we do not have disease-specific activity guidelines for LSS, and the nature of free-living physical activity (performance) in LSS remains unknown. LSS care providers could endorse the 2008 United States Physical Activity Guidelines; however, we do not know if this is realistic. The goal of the present study was to determine the proportion of individuals with LSS meeting the 2008 Guidelines. A secondary goal was to better understand the nature of physical performance in this population.Study Design
Retrospective study.Patient Sample
People from the Lumbar Spinal Stenosis Accelerometry Database, all of whom have both radiographic and clinical LSS and are seeking various treatments for their symptoms.Outcome Measures
Seven-day accelerometry (functional outcome) and demographics (self-reported).Methods
For the present study, we analyzed only baseline data that were obtained before any new treatments. Patients with at least 4 valid days of baseline accelerometry data were included. We determined the proportion of individuals with LSS meeting the 2008 US Physical Activity Guidelines of at least 150 minutes of moderate-vigorous (MV) physical activity per week in bouts of 10 minutes or more. We also used the novel Physical Performance analysis designed by our group to determine time spent in varying intensities of activity. There are no conflicts of interest to disclose.Results
We analyzed data from 75 individuals with a mean age of 68 (SD 9), 37% of whom were male. Three people (4%) were considered Meeting Guidelines (at least 150 MV minutes/week), and 56 (75%) were considered Inactive with not even 1 MV minute/week. With the 10-minute bout requirement removed, 10 of 75 (13%) achieved the 150-minute threshold. The average time spent in sedentary activity was 82%, and of time spent in nonsedentary activity, 99.6% was in the light activity range.Conclusions
In conclusion, the present study confirms that people with symptomatic LSS, neurogenic claudication, walking limitations, and LSS-related disability are extremely sedentary and are not meeting guidelines for physical activity. There is an urgent need for interventions aimed at reducing sedentary behavior and increasing the overall level of physical activity in LSS, not only to improve function but also to prevent diseases of inactivity. The present study suggests that reducing sedentary time, increasing time spent in light intensity activity, and increasing time spent in higher intensities of light activity may be appropriate as initial goals for exercise interventions in people with symptomatic LSS and neurogenic claudication, transitioning to moderate activity when appropriate. Results of the present study also demonstrate the importance of employing disease-specific measures for assessment of performance in LSS, and highlight the potential value of these methods for developing targeted and realistic goals for physical activity. Physical activity goals could be personalized using objective assessment of performance with accelerometry. Sagittal imbalance was defined as a C7 sagittal vertical axis (SVA) ≥40?mm on a 36-inch-long lateral whole spine radiograph. Logistic regression analysis was used to identify the risk factors for sagittal imbalance. Bilateral decompression was performed via a unilateral approach with a tubular retractor. The SVA was measured on serial radiographs performed 1, 3, 6, and 12 months postoperatively. The prognostic factors for sagittal balance recovery were determined based on various clinical and radiological parameters.Results
Sagittal imbalance was observed in 54% (45/83) of patients, and its risk factors were old age and a large mismatch between pelvic incidence and lumbar lordosis. The 1-year normalization rate was 73% after decompression surgery, and the median time to normalization was 1 to 3 months. Patients who did not experience SVA normalization exhibited low thoracic kyphosis (hazard ratio [HR], 1.04; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.02–1.10) (p<.01) and spondylolisthesis (HR, 0.33; 95% CI, 0.17–0.61) before surgery.Conclusions
Sagittal imbalance was observed in more than 50% of LSS patients, but this imbalance was correctable via simple decompression surgery in 70% of patients. 相似文献4.

Participants were randomly allocated into two groups: those who did the new method first, followed by the conventional method versus those who did the conventional method first, followed by the new method. A comparison of the angular and displacement measurements of lumbar spine flexion between the conventional method and the new method was performed and tested for superiority and non-inferiority.Results
The measurements of global lumbar angular ROM were, on average, 17.3° larger (p<.0001) using the new slump sitting method compared with the conventional method. They were most significant at the levels of L3–L4, L4–L5, and L5–S1 (p<.0001, p<.0001 and p=.001, respectively). There was no significant difference between both methods when measuring lumbar displacements (p=.814).Conclusion

Epidural steroid injection is commonly used in patients with chronic low back pain. Applying a mixture of a local anesthetic (LA) and steroid using the interlaminar (IL), transforaminal, and caudal techniques is a preferred approach.Purpose

The visual analog scale (VAS) and Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) scoring were performed on the study population at pretreatment (PRT), posttreatment, and 1, 3, 6, and 12 PRT months. A possible correlation of BMI and age with the procedure success was evaluated.Methods
The LA group (Group L, n=50) received 10?mL 0.25% bupivacaine, whereas the steroid+LA group (Group S, n=48) received 10?mL 0.25% bupivacaine+40?mg methylprednisolone at L4–L5 intervertebral space in prone position under the guidance of C-arm fluoroscopy.Results
There was no statistical difference in the PRT VAS and ODI scores between the groups (p<.05), whereas the VAS and ODI scores at 1, 3, 6, and 12 posttreatment months were higher in Group L, compared with Group S (p<.05). Age and BMI were not found to be related with the success of the procedure.Conclusions
Our study results showed that the VAS and ODI scores were lower in patients with multilevel LDP receiving steroid, following the administration of IL epidural injection. Most of the papers correlate sagittal radiographic parameters with health-related quality of life (HRQOL) scores for patients with scoliosis. However, we do not know how changes in sagittal profile influence clinical outcomes after surgery in adult population operated for mainly frontal deformity.Purpose
This study aimed to analyze spinal sagittal profile in a population operated on adult idiopathic scoliosis (AS) and to describe variations in sagittal parameters after surgery and the association between those variations and clinical outcomes.Design/Setting

We included in this study 40 patients operated on AS, older than 40 at the time of surgery (mean age 54.9), and with more than 2-year follow-up (mean 7.4 years).Outcome Measures
Full-length free-standing radiographs, Scoliosis Research Society 22 (SRS22) and Short Form 36 (SF36) instruments, and satisfaction with outcomes were available at final follow-up.Methods
Sagittal preoperative and final follow-up radiographic parameters, radiographic correlation with HRQOL scores at final follow-up, and association between satisfaction and changes in sagittal profile were analyzed. A multivariate analysis was performed. No funds were received for this article.Results
Preoperatively, the spinal sagittal plane tended to exhibit kyphosis. Most sagittal parameters did not improve at final follow-up with respect to preoperative values. We saw, after univariate analysis, that worse sagittal profile leads to worse HRQOL, but after multivariate analysis, only spinal tilt (ST) persisted as possible predictor for worse SRS activity scores. Frontal Cobb significantly improved. Most patients (82%) were satisfied with final outcomes. Variations in sagittal profile parameters did not differ between satisfied and dissatisfied patients.Conclusions
Although most sagittal plane parameters did not improve after surgery, surgical treatment in AS achieves a high satisfaction rate. Good clinical results do not correlate with improving sagittal plane parameters. Sagittal profile measurements are not helpful to decide surgical treatment in patients with mainly frontal deformity. 相似文献7.

The outcome data that were analyzed were minor and major complications, mortality, and readmissions in geriatric patients who underwent lumbar spinal surgery from 2005 to 2015.Materials and Methods
A retrospective cohort study was performed using data from the ACS NSQIP database. Patients over the age of 80 years who underwent lumbar spinal surgery from 2005 to 2013 were identified using International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems diagnosis codes and Current Procedural Terminology codes. Outcome data were classified as either a major complication, minor complication, readmission, or mortality. Multivariate logistic regression models were used to determine risks for developing adverse outcomes in the initial 30 postoperative days.Results
A total of 2,320 patients over the age of 80 years who underwent lumbar spine surgery were identified. Overall, 379 (16.34%) patients experienced at least one complication or death. Seventy-five patients (3.23%) experienced a major complication. Three hundred thirty-eight patients (14.57%) experienced a minor complication. Eighty-six patients (6.39%) were readmitted to the hospital within 30 days. Ten deaths (0.43%) were recorded in the initial 30 postoperative days. Increased operative times were strongly associated with perioperative complications (operative time >180 minutes, odds ratio [OR]: 3.07 [95% confidence interval {CI} 2.23–4.22]; operative time 120–180 minutes, OR: 1.77 [95% CI 1.27–2.47]). Instrumentation and fusion procedures were also associated with an increased risk of developing a complication (OR: 2.56 [95% CI 1.66–3.94]). Readmission was strongly associated with patients who were considered underweight (body mass index [BMI] <18.5) and who were functionally debilitated at the time of admission (OR: 4.10 [1.08–15.48] and OR: 2.79 [1.40–5.56], respectively).Conclusions
Elderly patients undergoing lumbar spinal surgery have high complications and readmission rates. Risk factors for complications include longer operative time and more extensive procedures involving instrumentation and fusion. Higher readmission rates are associated with low baseline patient functional status and low patient BMI. 相似文献8.

Background Context
The most commonly used materials used for interbody cages are titanium metal and polymer polyetheretherketone (PEEK). Both of these materials have demonstrated good biocompatibility. A major disadvantage associated with solid titanium cages is their radiopacity, limiting the postoperative monitoring of spinal fusion via standard imaging modalities. However, PEEK is radiolucent, allowing for a temporal assessment of the fusion mass by clinicians. On the other hand, PEEK is hydrophobic, which can limit bony ingrowth. Although both PEEK and titanium have demonstrated clinical success in obtaining a solid spinal fusion, innovations are being developed to improve fusion rates and to create stronger constructs using hybrid additive manufacturing approaches by incorporating both materials into a single interbody device.Purpose
The purpose of this study was to examine the interbody fusion characteristic of a PEEK Titanium Composite (PTC) cage for use in lumbar fusion.Study Design/Setting
Thirty-four mature female sheep underwent two-level (L2–L3 and L4–L5) interbody fusion using either a PEEK or a PTC cage (one of each per animal). Animals were sacrificed at 0, 8, 12, and 18 weeks post surgery.Materials and Methods
Post sacrifice, each surgically treated functional spinal unit underwent non-destructive kinematic testing, microcomputed tomography scanning, and histomorphometric analyses.Results
Relative to the standard PEEK cages, the PTC constructs demonstrated significant reductions in ranges of motion and a significant increase in stiffness. These biomechanical findings were reinforced by the presence of significantly more bone at the fusion site as well as ingrowth into the porous end plates.Conclusions

Postoperative urinary retention (POUR) may not be considered a major complication after surgery for degenerative lumbar spinal stenosis. A total of 284 consecutive patients (M : F=125:159; mean age, 63.3 years) who underwent spine surgery for degenerative lumbar spinal stenosis were reviewed.Outcome Measures
A multivariable logistic model was utilized to identify risk factors.Methods
A systematic postoperative voiding care protocol was applied for all patients to monitor them for the development of POUR. An indwelling urethral catheter was inserted intraoperatively and removed in the postanesthesia care unit. The patients were encouraged to void within 6 hours postoperatively and every 4–6 hours thereafter. After each voiding, the postvoid residual urine (PVR) was measured by an ultrasound bladder scan. POUR was defined as the inability to void or having a PVR≥100?mL for more than 2 days after surgery.Results
The incidence of POUR was 27.1% (77/284). Older age (odds ratio, 1.062; 95% confidence interval, 1.029–1.095) and a long duration of surgery (odds ratio, 1.003; 95% confidence interval, 1.001–1.005) were significant risk factors. A formula for determining the probability of POUR was developed, and a probability of ≥0.26 was regarded as the cut-off value (sensitivity of 0.75 and specificity of 0.57; C-statics, 0.684).Conclusion
POUR was a common morbidity after surgery for degenerative lumbar spinal stenosis. We recommend adopting a systematic postoperative voiding care protocol to prevent bladder overdistension and detrusor damage, especially for elderly patients and those who have undergone longer surgeries. 相似文献10.

There were significant improvements in clinical and radiographic outcomes from before surgery to 3 months and 2 years after surgery within each group. Analysis of leg pain VAS and ZCQ scores showed no significant differences in improvement between groups at either follow-up. The mean improvements in low back pain VAS and ODI scores were significantly greater in the BDUA+TLIF group than in the laminectomy+PLIF group. No significant difference was found in the final fusion rate at 2-year follow-up. The BDUA+TLIF group had significantly less blood loss, shorter length of postoperative hospital stay, and lower complication rate compared with the laminectomy+PLIF group.Conclusions
When compared with the conventional laminectomy+PLIF procedure, the BDUA+TLIF procedure achieves similar and satisfactory effects of decompression and fusion for DLS with stenosis. The BDUA+TLIF procedure appears to be associated with less postoperative low back discomfort and quicker recovery. 相似文献11.

Classification criteria are recommended for diseases that lack specific biomarkers to improve homogeneity in clinical research studies. Because imaging evidence of lumbar disc herniations (LDHs) may not be associated with symptoms, clinical classification criteria based on patient symptoms and physical examination findings are required.Purpose

In Phase 1, 17 spine experts participated in a Delphi process to select symptoms and signs suggesting radicular pain caused by LDH. In Phase 2, 19 different clinical experts identified patients they confidently classified as presenting with (1) radicular pain caused by LDH, (2) neurogenic claudication (NC) caused by lumbar spinal stenosis, or (3) non-specific low back pain (NSLBP) with referred leg pain. Patients completed survey items and specialists documented examination signs. A score to predict radicular pain caused by LDH was developed based on the coefficients of the multivariate model. An unrestricted grant of less than US$15,000 was received from MSD: It was used to support the conception of the Delphi, data management, and statistical analysis. No fees were allocated to participating spine specialists.Results
Phase 1 generated a final list of 74 potential symptoms and signs. In Phase 2, 209 patients with pain caused by LDH (89), NC (63), or NSLBP (57) were included. Items predicting radicular pain caused by LDH (p<.05) were monoradicular leg pain distribution, patient-reported unilateral leg pain, positive straight leg raise test <60° (or femoral stretch test), unilateral motor weakness, and asymmetric ankle reflex. The score had an AUC of 0.91. An easy-to-use weighted set of criteria with similar psychometric characteristics is proposed (specificity 90.4%, sensitivity 70.6%).Conclusions
Classification criteria for identifying patients with radicular pain caused by LDH are proposed. Their use could improve the homogeneity of patients enrolled in clinical research studies. 相似文献12.

The risk-adjusted AOs of inpatient deaths, prolonged length-of-stay for the index hospitalization, 90-day post-discharge deaths, and 90-day post-discharge readmissions were dependent variables in predictive risk models.Methods
Over 500 candidate risk factors were used for logistic regression models to predict the AOs. Models were then used to predicted risk-adjusted AO rates by hospitals.Results
There were 874 hospitals with a minimum of both 20 cervical and 20 non-cervical spine fusion patients. There were 167,395 total cases. A total of 7,981 (15.9%) of cervical fusion patients and 17,481 (14.9%) of non-cervical fusion patients had one or more AOs for an overall AO rate of 15.2%. A total of 54 hospitals (6.2%) had z-scores that were 2.0 better than predicted with a median risk adjusted AO rate of 9.2%, and 75 hospitals (8.6%) were 2.0 z-scores poorer than predicted with a median risk-adjusted AO rate of 23.2%.Conclusions

Thirty patients aged 35 to 55 years with an Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) score >50 randomly selected such that there was an even distribution of patients based on the number of WS.Outcome Measures

MRIs were reviewed by three spine specialists blinded to clinical exam findings, number of WS, and patient identity. Type and severity of pathology and presence of surgical and non-surgical lesions were assessed, and findings were rank ordered based on the overall impression of the pathology. There was no external funding or potential conflicts of interest for this study.Results
There were significantly more individual pathologic findings in patients without WS (p=.02). However, there was no difference in the severity of pathology based on WS (p=.46). Furthermore, the rank ordering based on overall impression of severity showed no difference between the patients with and without WS (p=.20). Although 100% of the patients without WS showed pathologic findings on MRI, 70% of WS patients also had significant pathology on MRI. The prevalence of spondylolisthesis, stenosis, and disc herniation was similar (p=.41, p=.22, and p=.43, respectively). The prevalence and mean number of lesion amenable to surgery did not differ based on presence of WS (p=.21 and p=.18, respectively).Conclusions
Patients with WS present a difficult diagnostic challenge for the physician as their organic symptoms are often coexistent with emotional fear avoidance behavior. Although there is more overall pathology in patients without WS, a significant number of these patients appear to have comparable spinal pathology with equivalent severity, which may be contributing to patients' symptoms and disability. Presence of these non-organic symptoms often makes us doubt these patients. Background Context
Patients with degenerative lumbar stenosis (DLS) adopt a forward flexed posture in an attempt to decompress neural elements. The relationship between sagittal alignment and severity of lumbar stenosis has not previously been studied.Purpose
We hypothesized that patients with increasing radiological severity of lumbar stenosis will exhibit worsening sagittal alignment.Study Design

Standing pelvic, regional, lower extremity and global sagittal alignment, and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) were the outcome measures.Methods
Patients with DLS were identified from a retrospective clinical database with corresponding full-body stereoradiographs. Exclusion criteria included coronal malalignment, prior spine surgery, spondylolisthesis>Grade 1, non-degenerative spinal pathology, or skeletal immaturity. Central stenosis severity was graded on axial T2-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) from L1–S1. Foraminal stenosis and supine lordosis was graded on sagittal T1-weighted images. Standing pelvic, regional, lower extremity, and global sagittal alignment were measured using validated software. The HRQoL measures were also analyzed in relation to severity of stenosis.Results
A total of 125 patients were identified with DLS on appropriate imaging. As central stenosis grade increased, patients displayed significantly increasing standing T1 pelvic angle, pelvic tilt, sagittal vertical axis, and pelvic incidence-lumbar lordosis (p<.05). No significant difference wasfound in pelvic incidence, supine lordosis, thoracic kyphosis, or T1 spinopelvic inclination between central stenosis groups. Despite similar supine lordosis between stenosis groups, patients with Grades 2 and 3 stenosis had less standing lordosis, suggesting antalgic posturing. Upper lumbar (L1–L3) stenosis predicted worse alignment than lower lumbar (L4–S1) stenosis.Increasing severity of foraminal stenosis was associated with reduced lumbar lordosis; however, no significant postural difference in lordosis, thoracolumbar, or lower extremity compensatory mechanisms were noted between foraminal stenosis groups. Stenosis grading did not predict worsening HRQoLs in central or foraminal stenosis.Conclusions
Severity of central lumbar stenosis as graded on MRI correlates with severity of sagittal malalignment. These findings support theories of sagittal malalignment as a compensatory mechanism for central lumbar stenosis. 相似文献15.

The sagittal alignment of 157 patients were assessed using Surgimap software from two kinds of lateral radiographs to acquire the following parameters: lumbar lordosis (LL), pelvic incidence (PI), pelvic tilt (PT), sacral slope (SS), L4–L5 intervertebral angle (IVA4–5), L4–L5 intervertebral height index (IHI4–5), and PI–LL. The Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, paired t test, Pearson correlation analysis, and multivariate linear regression analysis were used to analyze the data.Results
The results showed significantly statistical difference in LL, SS, PT, IVA4–5, and PI–LL, except for PI and IHI4–5, between the two positions. There was a significant relativity between standing LL and latericumbent LL (r=0.733, p<.01), PI (r=0.611, p<.01), and SS (r=0.626, p<.01). The predictive formula of standing LL was 12.791+0.777 latericumbent LL+0.395 latericumbent PI?0.506 latericumbent SS (adjusted R2=0.619, p<.05).Conclusion
Not all of sagittal parameters obtained from two positions are identical. Thus, the full-spine lateral standing films are difficult to be replaced. The surgeon should give sufficient consideration to the difference between the two views. With adherence to the PRISMA guidelines, electronic searches were performed through PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science to identify all studies involving lumbar fusion for degenerative disc disorders from January 2000 to August 2014. Studies were eligible for inclusion if they addressed adult patients treated with lumbar fusion for one of the following: stable degenerative disc disease, unstable degenerative disc disease, degenerative disc disease not specified (DDDns), herniated disc (DH), degenerative spondylolisthesis (DDDsp), and adult degenerative scoliosis (DDDsc). Abstracted data included the number of patients, preoperative diagnosis, fusion technique, complications, fusion rate, and clinical outcomes.Results
One hundred articles met inclusion criteria and yielded data for 8,706 patients. Forty-three studies included data for clinical improvement (VAS scores). The mean clinical improvement in VAS scores was significantly different among the diagnoses (p<.001), with DDDsp demonstrating the highest improvement (60%) and DDDns having the lowest (45%). Eighty-five studies included data for complication rates. Complication rates differed significantly (p<.001), with the highest rate seen in the DDDsc group (18%), followed by DDDsp (14%). Seventy-eight studies included data for fusion. The pooled odds of fusion for prospective studies were 6.93 (95% CI 4.75, 10.13). There was no evidence of publication bias.Conclusions
A relationship between outcomes and subgroup diagnosis was demonstrated. This review demonstrated a higher quality of evidence in the literature, and greater overall fusion rates compared to similar studies published in the 1980s and 1990s. 相似文献17.

We compared the outcome in patients within different 10-year age strata. IBM SPSS Statistics 22 was used in the statistical calculations. No funding was obtained for this study. The authors have no conflicts of interest to declare.Results
Patients in all ages referred to surgery had inferior PROM data compared with published normative age-matched PROM data. Referral to LDH surgery demanded of each 10-year strata statistically significantly more pain, lower quality of life, and more disability (all p<.001). Surgery markedly improved quality of life and reduced disability in all age groups (all p<.001), but with statistically significantly less PROM improvement with each older 10-year strata (all p<.001). This resulted in statistically significantly inferior PROM values for pain, quality of life, and disability postoperatively for each 10-year strata (all p<.001). There were also more complications (p<.001) with each 10-year older strata.Conclusions
In general, older patients referred to LDH surgery have statistically significantly inferior PROM scores, improve less, and reach inferior PROM scores postoperatively. The clinical relevance must however be questioned because most patients reach, independent of age group, the defined level for a successful outcome, and the patient satisfaction rate is high. 相似文献18.

Outcome measures included preoperative and postoperative EQ-5D Index scores.Materials and Methods
The medical records of patients who received a lumbar fusion for any indication were retrospectively reviewed to identify patient medical and surgical characteristics. A blinded reviewer assessed radiographs for each patient to examine sagittal alignment following fusion. Multivariable logistic regression was used to model the achievement of a CSI based on two commonly cited MCID values.Results
A total of 231 patients fit the inclusion criteria; 58% exceeded an MCID value for an EQ-5D score of 0.100, and 16% exceeded an MCID value of 0.390. Statistically significant independent predictors of not obtaining a CSI for an MCID threshold of 0.100 included a higher preoperative EQ-5D score (odds ratio [OR]=44.8) and L5-S1 fusion (OR=3.3). For an MCID value of 0.390, a higher preoperative EQ-5D score (OR=2,080.8) and a diagnosis of depression (OR=7.1) were predictive of not achieving a CSI, whereas spondylolisthesis (OR=4.1) was predictive of obtaining a CSI postoperatively. For both MCID values, patients who achieved a CSI had better postoperative quality of life (QOL) scores for all metrics measured, despite worse QOL scores preoperatively.Conclusions
This study is the first to use a combination of medical, surgical, and postoperative sagittal balance variables as determinants for the achievement of a CSI after lumbar fusion. The awareness of these predictors may allow for better patient selection and surgical approach to decrease the probability of acquiring a poor outcome postoperatively. 相似文献20.
