Odontomas are the most common type of odontogenic tumors and generally they are asymptomatic. Frequently it may interfere with the eruption of the teeth. This is a case report of a compound composite odontoma in a 9 year old girl, which results in failure of eruption of the permanent upper right central incisor while the contralateral tooth had erupted. A calcified mass was seen in the radiograph and was provisionally diagnosed as odontoma following which the odontoma was enucleated. Routine follow up was done for more than a year and no recurrence was seen. This case report indicates that early diagnosis and management ensures better prognosis. 相似文献

Impaction of primary teeth is very rare especially in the maxillary anterior teeth. A four-year-old male child with the complaint of delayed eruption of right maxillary primary cuspid due to the presence of odontoma is presented. 相似文献

Odontomas are the most common type of odontogenic tumors and are generally asymptomatic. This paper describes the case of a complex composite odontoma in a patient who had an asymptomatic swelling in the maxillary molar region, along with the impacted third molar. In this case, surgical excision of the lesion was performed, and the impacted third molar was intentionally left in situ so that it could erupt to the level of occlusion. 相似文献

Compound composite odontoma, is a tumor formed by the overgrowth of transitory or complete dental tissue, made up of one or more rudimentary teeth. Although odontomes are considered to be quite common of odontogenic tumors, these rarely occur solely in primary dentition. This paper is a report of case of a compound composite odontoma, five year old child who presented to the Department of Pedodontics and preventive Dentistry, College of Dental Surgery, Manipal. 相似文献

Obstruction remains as an important cause of failure in the eruption of a tooth. In this article, a 15-year-old girl was presented with retained upper left primary canine (63) and first primary molar (64), while the contralateral permanent canine (13) and premolars (14 and 15) have erupted. Upon radiographic examination, a mass which was diagnosed later to be compound odontome was detected. The treatment consisted of surgical removal of the odontome, extraction of the primary canine (63) and left permanent canine (23), and transplantation of the permanent canine (23). The management of this case and the literature related to autotransplantation are discussed. 相似文献

Although odontomas are considered to be a common type of odontogenic tumor, they rarely occur solely in the primary dentition. This case report presents an eight and a half-year-old-child with a compound odontoma located in the mandible, which caused the impaction of both primary and permanent canines. 相似文献

This is the case of a healthy 6-year old female with a clinically absent right mandibular second primary molar with no history of that tooth ever being present. Radiographic examination revealed a well-circumscribed pericoronal radiolucency surrounding the mandibular right primary second molar. The mandibular right second premolar was displaced mesially. Treatment consisted of enucleation of the lesion with removal of both the unerupted primary second molar and second premolar. The histopathology of the excised lesion revealed a hyperplastic dental follicle with a focal proliferation of odontogenic epithelium and duct-like structures, probably representing an incipient adenomatoid odontogenic tumor. 相似文献

A case of a compound odontoma caused delayed eruption of a central incisor in the maxilla is presented with clinical, radiographic, and microscopic findings. The odontoma was surgically removed and microscopic examination showed a lot of crown-like structures in a very irregular form, some of which were fused to each other at their apical parts. Enamel and pre-enamel were totally abnormal, whereas the inside of the pulp chamber tissue did not present any histological sign of functional tissue. The most homogeneous tissue was dentin. The removal of the odontoma was followed by a rapid eruption of the impacted central incisor. 相似文献
