Internal and external supravesical hernia.

Two cases of supravesical hernia are described. One was a rare posterior internal supravesical hernia discovered only at exploratory laparotomy after exhaustive but fruitless diagnostic procedures. The surgical anatomy of anterior and posterior internal supravesical hernia is discussed and a simplified terminology is proposed.     

Right paraduodenal hernia leading to bowel strangulation

Up to half of all internal hernias are caused by paraduodenal hernia, a rare congenital midgut malrotation that accounts for less than 1% of all intestinal obstructions. The diagnosis may arise from an incidental finding on abdominal imaging or the patient may present with abdominal pain, vomiting, and obstipation. Early recognition and management of this disease entity are keys because serious complications such as bowel ischemia and infarction may result from a delay in diagnosis. We present a case involving a 14-year-old boy with gangrenous small bowel secondary to right paraduodenal hernia.     

Right congenital diaphragmatic hernia associated with anorectal malformation

We describe a neonate in whom a right congenital diaphragmatic hernia and an anorectal malformation coexisted. Their coexistence in the same patient is rare.     

Transabdominal pre-peritoneal inguinal hernia repair with external fixation

Purpose  

To find a method that has all the advantages of laparoscopic transabdominal preperitoneal (TAPP) inguinal hernia repair but with considerably reduced costs.     

Right paraduodenal hernia in childhood: a case report

A 7-year-old patient was recently treated surgically for a right paraduodenal hernia. Paraduodenal hernia is a rare cause of chronic abdominal complaints, as well as acute obstruction, and although it is not typical, it can manifest in childhood. The term "hernia" is a misnomer since this condition results from anomalous intestinal rotation. Knowledge of this embryology will prevent injury to vital mesenteric vessels during "repair" of a right paraduodenal hernia.
