Epidermoid cyst of the submandibular gland

Primary epidermoid cyst of the salivary gland is extremely rare and has only been reported once in the parotid gland A case of epidermoid cyst of the submandibular gland is presented, which required excisional biopsy for the diagnosis. Such excision is also curative.     

Chondrosarcoma of nasal septum

Chondrosarcomas are the tumours of the Osteogenic series. This tumour may occur in any bone, but with a predilection for flat bones and ribs. Chondrosarcomas of the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses are rare tumours. Still rarer is the chondrosarcoma of nasal septum. Rarity of this neoplasm warrants its presentation.     

Pleomorphic adenoma of nasal septum

The pleomorphic adenoma is the most common benign tumour of the major and minor salivary glands. We report a 40-year-old female patient, who presented with progressive swelling and deformity of the left side of her nose for last 2 years. On a lateral rhinotomy a mass (4 cm X3 cm in size) was found to be arising from the cartilaginous part of the nasal septum. The mass was emicleated from its capsule and the walls excised. The histopathological examination revealed it to be pleomorphic adenoma.

Epidermoid cyst of the testicle in children.

Epidermoid cyst of the testicle is rare in children and only four previous cases have been reported. We add two cases and discuss their presentation and management. Both children presented with solid testicular masses, one of which was asymptomatic and the other was painful. Physical examination and ultrasound could not differentiate between a benign and malignant process. One child underwent radical orchiectomy and one child underwent local excision alone. Both are free of disease at follow-up.     

Chondrosarcoma of the nasal septum

Chondrosarcoma of the head and neck region are relatively uncommon, arising rarely in the naval septum. The reported cases of nasal septal chondrosarcomas are extensive lesions with involvement of paranasal sinuses, orbit or skull base at the lime of diagnosis. Those limited to the nasal cavity is extremely rare and to date there has been one case report in English language literature. We present a case of chondrosarcoma of the nasal septum with involvement of the nasal cavity alone and no evidence of bony erosion. Initial multiple biopsies showed mature chondromatous areas with no atypia. The patient had wide excision of the tumour. The final biopsy of the excised specimen revealed foci of well-differentiated chondrosarcoma. Wide surgical excision with adequate margins should be considered as the treatment of choice in lesion of nasal septum even if initial biopsies are negative for malignancy. Hence this case report.     

Pleomorphic adenoma of the nasal septum

Despite the common occurrence of pleomorphic adenoma of major salivary glands, intranasal pleomorphic adenoma are rare. We present a ease of pleomorphic adenoma of the nasal septum along with a brief review of literature. The histological nature of this lesion in comparison to other salivary gland tumours and the importance of an accurate diagnosis has been stressed.     

Epidermoid cyst of the brain stem--a case report.

Epidermoid cysts occurring within the brain stem are extremely rare and only nine such cases are reported in the literature. In this report, we report a case of Intrapontine epidermoid cyst in a young female patient.     

Petrous apex arachnoid cyst extending into Meckel's cave

A rare case of arachnoid cyst involving the petrous apex with an unusual clinical presentation has been described with special emphasis in the imaging features and importance of accurate presurgical diagnosis. Differentiation from the other benign lesions involving the petrous apex and the role of newer MR techniques in the diagnosis of these lesions has been highlighted.     

“Pleomorphic adenoma of nasal septum”

Mixed salivary tumours have been found to arise almost everywhere in the upper alimentary and respiratory tract like lips, tongue, floor of mouth, tonsils, cheek, alveolar ridge, soft and hard palate, pharynx and larynx. It is, however, uncommon in the nasal cavity. Most commonly pleomorphic adenoma arises from nasal septum. Macroscopically they present as a intranasal mass without any specific feature. Diagnosis is essentially by histopathological examination. Their theories of origin have been discussed along with the treatment.     

Aflibercept‐related nasal septum perforation

Hypertension, cytopenia and diarrhea are the most common side effects of aflibercept. Rarely thromboembolism, hemorrhage, fistulization and reversible posterior leukoencephalopathy have been reported. Here we report a patient experiencing nasal septum perforation during aflibercept therapy.
