This paper describes the clinical symptoms and cytogenetic findings in a patient previously described in a doctoral thesis (van Kempen, 1969). The patient is a boy with multiple congenital anomalies and a deletion of the long arm of chromosome 4. A recent Giemsa banding study showed absence of the terminal G-band, as was found in the patient described by Golbus et al (1973). The symptoms and other data on the three patients known to have a deletion of the long arm of chromosome 4 are presented to facillitate comparison of these cases. However, the number of cases so far on record is too small to warrant conclusions on the basis of this comparison.  相似文献

A case of blepharophimosis, ptosis, and epicanthus inversus (BPES) associated with prenatally diagnosed diaphragmatic hernia and interstitial deletion of the long arm of chromosome 3, del(3)(q21q23), is reported. Comparison with other cases of BPES resulting from 3q rearrangements indicate that this disorder, previously assigned to 3q2, can now be more accurately mapped to 3q23.  相似文献

We present a premature newborn boy with multiple congenital anomalies, including craniofacial anomalies, syndactyly, cardiac defects, and a horseshoe kidney associated with terminal deletion of 2q. The infant's karyotype was 46,XY,del(2)(q37). Clinical, cytogenetic, and autopsy findings are presented in this report. We describe a malformed newborn girl with an interstitial deletion of the long arm of chromosome 2 (karyotype: 46,XX,del(2)(q31q33)). This is the first report of this particular chromosome abnormality that includes autopsy findings. Comparison with previous cases in the literature suggests that this particular deletion uniformly results in developmental delays, craniofacial changes, and occasionally results in microcephaly, low-set ears, and hand and foot abnormalities.  相似文献

One has an interstitial deletion identical to that found in a previously reported patient, although they are phenotypically dissimilar. We describe a newborn with a novel interstitial deletion of the long arm of chromosome 17 [del (17) (q23.2q24.3)] who died on day of life 17 during a recurrent apneic episode. Her phenotype included severe growth retardation, multiple facial anomalies, maldeveloped oralpharyngeal structures, and digital and widespread skeletal anomalies. We describe a boy with severe hypotonia and minor facial anomalies with a terminal deletion of chromosome 2q (46,XY,del(2)(q37)). Comparison with previous cases in the literature indicates that this particular deletion results in infantile hypotonia, developmental delay, and minor craniofacial anomalies including frontal bossing and micrognathia. The absence of true malformations and few minor anomalies in this patient suggests that indications for obtaining a chromosome analysis from neurologically impaired individuals need to be reevaluated.  相似文献

An interstitial deletion of 15q [46,XY,del(15)(q15q22.1)] was found in a malformed infant with craniosynostosis. Although the parents had normal chromosomes, the study of heteromorphic markers of chromosome 15 showed that the deleted chromosome 15 was of paternal origin. The 2 previously reported cases with an interstitial deletion of the middle portion of 15q were not complicated with craniosynostosis, and their deleted region did not include 15q15 band. The deletion of chromosome band 15q15 might be responsible for craniosynostosis.  相似文献

A child with monosomy for the distal part of the short arm of chromosome 3 is presented. Altered features include prenatal onset growth deficiency, postaxial polydactyly, ptosis, ear anomalies, and a triangular facial appearance. In addition to generalised delay in psychomotor development, specific problems in visual attention were present. Comparison with the previously reported case suggests that the phenotype observed constitutes a clinically recognisable pattern of malformation.  相似文献

A mildly dysmorphic, 2 year old girl with mental retardation was found to have a small de novo terminal deletion of the long arm of chromosome 14, del(14)(q32.3). She was found to have features in common with two previous terminal deletion cases and particularly with the well documented ring 14 syndrome, although seizures, a characteristic feature of ring 14, were notably absent.  相似文献
