Introduction

This review analyzes the increasing role of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in dentistry and its relevance in endodontics. Limits and new strategies to develop MRI protocols for endodontic purposes are reported and discussed.

Methods

Eligible studies were identified by searching the PubMed databases. Only original articles on dental structures, anatomy, and endodontics investigated by in vitro and in vivo MRI were included in this review. Original articles on MRI in dentistry not concerning anatomy and endodontics were excluded.

Results

All the consulted studies showed well-defined images of pathological conditions such as caries and microcracks. The enhanced contrast of pulp provided a high-quality reproduction of the tooth shape and root canal in vitro and in vivo. Assessment of periapical lesions is possible even without the use of contrast medium.

Conclusions

MRI is a nonionizing technique characterized by high tissue contrast and high image resolution of soft tissues; it could be considered a valid and safe diagnostic investigation in endodontics because of its potential to identify pulp tissues, define root canal shape, and locate periapical lesions.  相似文献

Background and Overview

Profound pulpal anesthesia after a successful inferior alveolar nerve block can be difficult to achieve when the clinical condition is a pulpal diagnosis of symptomatic irreversible pulpitis. The authors reviewed the literature as it relates to the anesthesia necessary for endodontic therapy of patients with painful, vital, mandibular teeth diagnosed with symptomatic irreversible pulpitis.

Conclusions

Supplemental anesthetic techniques and medications are available that can be used to improve pulpal anesthesia for patients with the clinical condition of symptomatic irreversible pulpitis.

Practical Implications

The authors identified treatment recommendations for anesthesia in the case of symptomatic irreversible pulpitis based on a review of the available evidence.  相似文献

Introduction

Several studies have attempted to use human dental pulp stem cells (hDPSCs) for pulp-dentin complex regeneration in vitro. However, the safety of such applications should be first evaluated in vivo before their use in clinical trials. The purpose of this study was to investigate the in vivo fate of intrapulpally transplanted hDPSCs.

Methods

hDPSCs were isolated and cultured from impacted third molars. In vivo experiments were performed using 7-week-old male BALB/c nude mice. Under deep anesthesia, 1 × 105 hDPSCs were transplanted in mice via the tail vein for intravenous injection or into the pulp chamber for intrapulpal transplantation. A total of 56 mice, 28 per group, were used. Mice were sacrificed at different time points, and the numbers of hDPSCs in the organs were analyzed quantitatively. In addition, qualitative analysis was performed to detect intrapulpally transplanted hDPSCs.

Results

Intravenously injected hDPSCs were mostly distributed to the lungs and rarely detected in other organs at all observed time points. The hDPSCs transplanted into the pulp chamber rarely migrated to other organs over time.

Conclusions

These data indicate a differential distribution of transplanted hDPSCs between the intravenous and intrapulpal route and show the safety of pulpal transplantation of hDPSCs.  相似文献

Introduction

This study compared the effect of several final irrigation agitation techniques (sonic agitation, passive ultrasonic irrigation, and manual dynamic agitation [MDA]) in comparison with needle irrigation on postoperative pain in mandibular molar teeth with symptomatic irreversible pulpitis.

Methods

One hundred sixty-eight patients with a single tooth diagnosed as symptomatic irreversible pulpitis were selected. Teeth were randomly assigned to 4 groups based on the final irrigation methods. In group 1 (needle irrigation), irrigation was conducted without agitation with a side-port needle; in group 2, sonic agitation was used; in group 3, passive ultrasonic irrigation was used; and in group 4, MDA was used. Teeth were then obturated with gutta-percha and a resin-based sealer using the cold lateral compaction technique. The presence of postoperative pain was assessed after 6, 24, 48, and 72 hours and 1 week.

Results

At the 6- and 24-hour time intervals, group 4 patients reported more intense postoperative pain than those patients in groups 1, 2, and 3 (P < .05). There was no significant difference among the groups at the other time intervals (P > .05), and in all groups the intensity of postoperative pain decreased over time.

Conclusions

MDA caused greater postoperative pain after endodontic therapy in mandibular molar teeth with symptomatic irreversible pulpitis compared with the other methods in the first 24 hours.  相似文献

Statement of problem

Although the cytotoxicity of denture adhesives has been widely assessed, data on the release of proinflammatory cytokines from oral epithelial cells are still scarce.

Purpose

The purpose of this in vitro study was to evaluate the proinflammatory cytokines interleukin (IL) 1β, IL-6, and tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α) released from human oral keratinocytes after exposure to denture adhesives.

Material and methods

Eluates of the Ultra Corega cream, Corega powder Fixador Ultra, and Corega strip denture adhesives were created at 1% wt/vol after 24 hours of exposure in a Dulbecco modified Eagle medium culture. The release of IL-1β, IL-6, and TNF-α was measured using a sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay after the oral epithelial cells (NOK-SI) had been exposed to the eluates for 3, 6, and 24 hours (n=6).

Results

IL-1β release from the strip was higher at 3 hours compared with the control (Bonferroni post hoc test, P=.016). IL-6 releases from the cream and powder denture adhesives at 6 and 24 hours were higher than for the controls (Bonferroni post hoc test, P<.05). TNF-α release was not detectable in some groups and periods.

Conclusions

In long periods, denture adhesive strips do not induce any change on cytokine release from human oral keratinocytes.  相似文献

Introduction

This study compared the effect of conventional needle irrigation (positive pressure) and the EndoVac system (Discus Dental, Culver City, CA) (negative pressure) on postoperative pain in mandibular molar teeth with symptomatic irreversible pulpitis.

Methods

One hundred sixteen patients with symptomatic irreversible pulpitis were selected. Teeth were randomly assigned to 2 groups according to the irrigation methods performed during root canal preparation. In group 1, root canal irrigation was performed using a syringe and a 31-G side-port needle (NaviTip; Ultradent, South Jordan, UT). In group 2, the EndoVac system was used for irrigation. Teeth were then obturated with gutta-percha and a resin-based sealer using the cold lateral compaction technique. The presence of postoperative pain was assessed after 6, 24, 48, and 72 hours and 1 week.

Results

At 6-, 24-, and 48-hour time intervals, group 1 patients reported more intense postoperative pain than patients in group 2 (P < .05). There was no significant difference between the 2 groups at the other time intervals (P > .05), and in both groups the intensity of postoperative pain decreased over time.

Conclusions

Apical positive pressure irrigation caused greater postoperative pain after endodontic therapy of mandibular molar teeth with symptomatic irreversible pulpitis compared with the apical negative pressure irrigation system.  相似文献

Introduction

Previous studies in patients with irreversible pulpitis have reported increased success of the inferior alveolar nerve block (IANB) using premedication with ketorolac. Preemptive nitrous oxide administration has also shown an increase in the success of the IANB. Recently, ketorolac has been made available for intranasal delivery. Perhaps combining ketorolac and nitrous oxide would increase success. Therefore, the purpose of this prospective, randomized, double-blind study was to determine the effect of a combination of intranasal ketorolac and nitrous oxide/oxygen on the anesthetic success of the IANB in patients presenting with symptomatic irreversible pulpitis.

Methods

One hundred two patients experiencing spontaneous moderate to severe pain with symptomatic irreversible pulpitis in a mandibular posterior tooth participated. Patients were randomly divided into 2 groups and received either 31.5 mg intranasal ketorolac or intranasal saline placebo 20 minutes before the administration of nitrous oxide/oxygen. Ten minutes after the administration of nitrous oxide/oxygen, the IANB was given. After profound lip numbness, endodontic treatment was performed. Success was defined as the ability to perform endodontic access and instrumentation with no pain or mild pain.

Results

The odds of success for the IANB was 1.631 in the intranasal saline/nitrous oxide group versus the intranasal ketorolac/nitrous oxide group with no significant difference between the groups (P = .2523).

Conclusions

Premedication with intranasal ketorolac did not significantly increase the odds of success for the IANB over the use of nitrous oxide/oxygen alone. Supplemental anesthesia will still be needed to achieve adequate anesthesia.  相似文献

Introduction

Angiogenesis is critical for pulp regeneration. Exosomes, a key component of paracrine secretion, have emerged as important players in the modulation of angiogenesis. The role of dental pulp cell–derived exosomes (DPC-Exos) in angiogenesis has rarely been reported. The proangiogenic properties of DPC-Exos in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) are investigated in the current study.

Methods

Exosomes were isolated from dental pulp cell (DPC) culture supernatants by ultracentrifugation and were characterized by transmission electron microscopy, Western blotting, and nanoparticle tracking analysis. Their roles in HUVEC proliferation, proangiogenic factor expression, and tube formation were examined in vitro.

Results

We isolated and characterized exosomes from DPCs and showed that DPC-Exos promoted HUVEC proliferation, proangiogenic factor expression, and tube formation. Furthermore, we found that p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling inhibition enhances DPC-Exos–induced tube formation.

Conclusions

Taken together, these results suggest that DPC-Exos have vital roles in angiogenesis, and p38 MAPK signaling inhibition enhances tubular morphogenesis.  相似文献

Introduction

Spontaneously catastrophic fracture of intact unrestored molar teeth is not common. Nevertheless, cracks do occur that progress apically, resulting in the complete splitting of the tooth and root. This report describes a catastrophic fracture that occurred in an unrestored mandibular second molar resulting in a previously unreported combination of a longitudinal and horizontal root fracture, appearing radiographically as a single horizontal root fracture.

Methods

Tooth fragments were examined clinically, stereoscopically, and by scanning electron microscopy. Fractographic analysis was used to investigate the dynamics involved in fracture initiation, structural resistances encountered during progression of the fracture, and reasons for direction changes culminating in the unusual radiographic appearance.

Result

The uniqueness of this report is that it describes fractographic evidence of factors contributing to the initiation and progression of an in vivo crack. It shows fracture markings that are evidence of the energy dissipation mechanisms. The topographic location of these markings confirmed that cracks occur in vivo in stages with different rates of progression.

Conclusion

This analysis helps to explain why split teeth are uncommon and highlights some of the multitude of factors that have to coincide for a tooth to catastrophically fracture. The report describes the mechanism of fracture and should stimulate clinicians and researchers to investigate cracking of teeth by undertaking fractographic analysis of extracted cracked teeth.  相似文献

Introduction

The purpose of this prospective, randomized clinical trial was to evaluate the anesthetic efficacy of the Gow-Gates nerve block (GGNB), the inferior alveolar nerve block (IANB), and their combination for mandibular molars in patients with symptomatic irreversible pulpitis.

Methods

One hundred fifty patients diagnosed with symptomatic irreversible pulpitis of a mandibular molar were selected. The patients randomly received 2 GGNB injections, 2 IANB injections, or 1 GGNB injection plus 1 IANB injection of 1.8 mL 2% lidocaine with 1:80,000 epinephrine. Access cavity preparation was initiated 15 minutes after injections. Lip numbness was a requisite for all of the patients. Success was specified as no or mild pain on the basis of Heft-Parker visual analog scale recordings during access cavity preparation or initial instrumentation. Data were analyzed with the chi-square, Kruskal-Wallis, and analysis of variance tests.

Results

The success rates of anesthesia were 40%, 44%, and 70% for the GGNB, IANB, and GGNB + IANB groups, respectively. There was no statistically significant difference in the success rate of anesthesia between the GGNB and IANB groups (P > .05). The anesthesia success rate for the GGNB + IANB group was significantly different from those of the GGNB and IANB groups (P < .05).

Conclusions

A combination of GGNB and IANB could improve the efficacy of anesthesia in mandibular molars with symptomatic irreversible pulpitis, but it would still require supplemental anesthesia. Further research may be needed to confirm the results of this study.  相似文献

Introduction

Dental pulp inflammation is an excellent model for the interaction between tissue inflammation and regenerative processes. It is worthwhile to better understand molecular signaling of repair and regeneration in inflammatory processes. Emerging evidence suggests that long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) participates in immune system inflammatory processes. Here we investigate the expression of lncRNAs in pulpitis, the inflammation of dental pulp tissue, and identify lncRNAs that possibly participate in inflammation responses and odontogenesis.

Methods

Integrated comparative lncRNA microarray was used to examine lncRNA and mRNA expression between inflamed and normal human pulp tissue. The differential expression of lncRNAs and mRNAs was then validated by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction. A bioinformatics analysis was performed to predict the function of differentially expressed lncRNAs and mRNAs.

Results

Our data indicated 752 lncRNAs were significantly differentially expressed (fold change > 2.0; P < .05) in inflamed pulp tissues compared with normal pulp tissues, including 338 upregulated and 414 downregulated lncRNAs. Among the 646 differentially expressed mRNAs (fold change > 2.0; P < .05), 460 were upregulated, and 186 were downregulated. The differentially downregulated genes are enriched for gene ontology terms related to odontogenesis and cell development in biological processes, whereas the differentially upregulated genes are related to immune and inflammation processes.

Conclusions

LncRNAs are differentially expressed in inflamed human pulp tissue compared with normal pulp tissue, indicating that lncRNAs may play key roles in pulpitis pathogenesis and development.  相似文献

Introduction

Pulp tissue regeneration is becoming a reality after discovery of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) residing in the pulp tissues through various clinical innovations, although MSC transplantation into the pulp space has met with challenges of in vitro cell expansion and cultures. As a way to circumvent the regulatory and technical complexities of in vitro MSC culture, we investigated the use of minced pulp tissues as a source of pulpal MSCs for tissue regeneration.

Methods

We characterized the phenotype of cells explanted from minced pulp (MP), namely MP-derived MSCs (MP-MSCs), compared with dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs) established from pulp tissues by enzyme digestion. Phenotypic characterization included replication kinetics, immunophenotyping, and multilineage differentiation. Using the tooth slice model, we assessed odonto/osteogenic differentiation of DPSCs, MP-MSCs, and minced pulp tissues in situ.

Results

In vitro replication of MP-MSCs occurred more rapidly during the initial phase of subcultures compared with DPSCs; however, MP-MSCs arrived at senescence at population doubling 47, whereas DPSCs replicated until population doubling 64, indicating shorter replicative lifespan. MP-MSCs also demonstrated stronger odonto/osteogenic differentiation than DPSCs by alkaline phosphatase activity and the protein expression. Both MP-MSCs and DPSCs demonstrated odonto/osteogenic and adipogenic differentiation capacities. Both cell types also showed mineralized tissue formation in the tooth slice model. Seeding minced pulp tissue on poly-L-lactic acid scaffold allowed for migration of MP-MSCs from the tissues and odontogenic differentiation with dentin sialophosphoprotein expression in the tooth slice model.

Conclusions

These data indicated that MP may be an alternative source of pulpal MSCs that may allow de novo pulp-dentin regeneration without the need for in vitro culture and expansion.  相似文献

Statement of problem

Complete-arch implant-supported prostheses without a framework have a high risk of failure: a straightforward and inexpensive reinforcement material, such as nylon mesh, could improve their longevity.

Purpose

The purpose of this in vitro study was to evaluate a nylon-silica mesh compound on the fracture strength of acrylic resin and the fracture load of complete-arch implant-supported prostheses.

Material and methods

Twenty-four complete mandibular arch implant-supported prostheses were divided into 2 groups according to cantilever length (molar and premolar) and subdivided into another 2 subgroups according to the presence or absence of reinforcing mesh. The specimens were submitted to a maximum load-to-fracture test in a universal testing machine, with a 100-N load cell, a 2 mm/min crosshead speed, and a spherical metal tip diameter of 4 mm at different points (molar and premolar). These were submitted to 1-way analysis of variance for repeated measurement and the post hoc Tukey multiple comparison test (α=.05).

Results

The mean maximum load ±standard deviation for the molar group was 393.4 ±95.0 N with reinforcement and 305.4 ±76.3 N without reinforcement (P=.02); and for the premolar group was 1083.3 ±283.7 N with reinforcement and 605.3 ±90.5 N without reinforcement (P=.001).

Conclusions

Reinforcement with nylon mesh increased the mean maximum load of implant-supported complete-arch prostheses at both cantilever lengths. The cantilever to the premolar (5 mm) presented the highest maximum load values to fracture.  相似文献

Statement of problem

Studies on the degree of conversion of dental cement in relation to the number of methacrylate components are lacking.

Purpose

The purpose of this in vitro study was to evaluate the degree of conversion of single- and multicomponent methacrylate-containing dental cements around opaque and translucent fiber dowels at varying depths.

Material and methods

Teeth were prepared for standard endodontic therapy, and a dowel space was created. Opaque and translucent fiber dowels consisting of Aestheti-Plus (AP) and FiberKleer were cemented with 4 methacrylate (MA)-containing cements, including RelyX U100 (R), which contains TEGDMA; Duolink (D), which contains TEGDMA and BisGMA; and Variolink N LC (V) and Breeze (B), which contain TEGDMA, BisGMA, and UDMA. Light-emitting diode polymerization was performed for 60 seconds. The specimens were immediately cut into halves and measured within the first hour at depths of 1, 3, and 5 mm using Raman spectroscopy, and the degree of conversion (DC) of resin cement was calculated. Data were analyzed using 3-way ANOVA and the Tukey multiple comparison test (α=.05).

Results

The measured dowel regions were not significantly different at various depths (P=.10). The dowel and cement types significantly influenced the degree of conversion of the cement (P<.05). The V and B cements exhibited a higher DC than D and R cements. With AP dowels, the DC of cement D was lower than that of the V, B, and R cements.

Conclusions

Within the limitations of this in vitro study, the degrees of conversion of the tested resin cements were not affected by the tested dowel depths. Higher DC was found in cement with more than 2 types of flexible MA. Opaque dowels produced a lower DC than translucent dowels.  相似文献

Statement of problem

Studies that evaluated the effect of dental technician disparities on the accuracy of presectioned and postsectioned definitive casts are lacking.

Purpose

The purpose of this in vitro study was to evaluate the accuracy of presectioned and postsectioned definitive casts fabricated by different dental technicians by using a 3-dimensional computer-aided measurement method.

Material and methods

An arch-shaped metal master model consisting of 5 abutments resembling prepared mandibular incisors, canines, and first molars and with a 6-degree total angle of convergence was designed and fabricated by computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD-CAM) technology. Complete arch impressions were made (N=110) from the master model, using polyvinyl siloxane (PVS) and delivered to 11 dental technicians. Each technician fabricated 10 definitive casts with dental stone, and the obtained casts were numbered. All casts were sectioned, and removable dies were obtained. The master model and the presectioned and postsectioned definitive casts were digitized with an extraoral scanner, and the virtual master model and virtual presectioned and postsectioned definitive casts were obtained. All definitive casts were compared with the master model by using computer-aided measurements, and the 3-dimensional accuracy of the definitive casts was determined with best fit alignment and represented in color-coded maps. Differences were analyzed using univariate analyses of variance, and the Tukey honest significant differences post hoc tests were used for multiple comparisons (α=.05).

Results

The accuracy of presectioned and postsectioned definitive casts was significantly affected by dental technician disparities (P<.001). The largest dimensional changes were detected in the anterior abutments of both of the definitive casts. The changes mostly occurred in the mesiodistal dimension (P<.001).

Conclusions

Within the limitations of this in vitro study, the accuracy of presectioned and postsectioned definitive casts is susceptible to dental technician differences.  相似文献

Statement of problem

An annealing procedure is a heat treatment process to improve the mechanical properties of cobalt-chromium (Co-Cr) alloys. However, information is lacking about the effect of the annealing process on the bonding ability of ceramic to Co-Cr alloys fabricated by rapid prototyping.

Purpose

The purpose of this in vitro study was to evaluate the effects of the fabrication techniques and the annealing procedure on the shear bond strength of ceramic to Co-Cr alloys fabricated by different techniques.

Material and methods

Ninety-six cylindrical specimens (10-mm diameter, 10-mm height) made of Co-Cr alloy were prepared by casting (C), milling (M), direct process powder-bed (LaserCUSING) with and without annealing (CL+, CL), and direct metal laser sintering (DMLS) with annealing (EL+) and without annealing (EL). After the application of ceramic to the metal specimens, the metal-ceramic bond strength was assessed using a shear force test at a crosshead speed of 0.5 mm/min. Shear bond strength values were statistically analyzed by 1-way ANOVA and Tukey multiple comparison tests (α=.05).

Results

Although statistically significant differences were found among the 3 groups (M, 29.87 ±2.06; EL, 38.92 ±2.04; and CL+, 40.93 ±2.21; P=.002), no significant differences were found among the others (P>.05). The debonding surfaces of all specimens exhibited mixed failure mode.

Conclusions

These results showed that the direct process powder-bed method is promising in terms of metal-ceramic bonding ability. The manufacturing technique of Co-Cr alloys and the annealing process influence metal-ceramic bonding.  相似文献

Introduction

Human dental pulp stem cells (hDPSCs) are ideal candidates for regenerating damaged dental tissue. To examine the possibility that hDPSCs may be used to regenerate pulp, we tested their in vitro effects on acute allogeneic immune responses.

Methods

A peripheral blood mononuclear cell (PBMC) proliferation assay and immunoglobulin (Ig) production assay were performed to evaluate the immunosuppressive properties of hDPSCs.

Results

The mixed lymphocyte reaction was suppressed by incubation with hDPSCs. Transforming growth factor beta (TGF-β) was the major soluble factor responsible for inhibiting the allogeneic proliferation of PBMCs. The production of IgM and IgG by allogeneic activation of responder B lymphocytes was also completely abrogated by TGF-β released from hDPSCs via interferon gamma in response to activation of the responder T lymphocytes.

Conclusions

hDPSCs inhibit acute allogeneic immune responses by their release of TGF-β as a result of allogeneic stimulation of T lymphocytes. This study provides an insight into the potential clinical use of hDPSCs for allogeneic transplantation.  相似文献

Introduction

Various stimuli to the dentin surface elicit dentinal pain by inducing dentinal fluid movement causing cellular deformation in odontoblasts. Although odontoblasts detect deformation by the activation of mechanosensitive ionic channels, it is still unclear whether odontoblasts are capable of establishing neurotransmission with myelinated A delta (Aδ) neurons. Additionally, it is still unclear whether these neurons evoke action potentials by neurotransmitters from odontoblasts to mediate sensory transduction in dentin. Thus, we investigated evoked inward currents and evoked action potentials form trigeminal ganglion (TG) neurons after odontoblast mechanical stimulation.

Methods

We used patch clamp recordings to identify electrophysiological properties and record evoked responses in TG neurons.

Results

We classified TG cells into small-sized and medium-sized neurons. In both types of neurons, we observed voltage-dependent inward currents. The currents from medium-sized neurons showed fast inactivation kinetics. When mechanical stimuli were applied to odontoblasts, evoked inward currents were recorded from medium-sized neurons. Antagonists for the ionotropic adenosine triphosphate receptor (P2X3), transient receptor potential channel subfamilies, and Piezo1 channel significantly inhibited these inward currents. Mechanical stimulation to odontoblasts also generated action potentials in the isolectin B4–negative medium-sized neurons. Action potentials in these isolectin B4–negative medium-sized neurons showed a short duration. Overall, electrophysiological properties of neurons indicate that the TG neurons with recorded evoked responses after odontoblast mechanical stimulation were myelinated Aδ neurons.

Conclusions

Odontoblasts established neurotransmission with myelinated Aδ neurons via P2X3 receptor activation. The results also indicated that mechanosensitive TRP/Piezo1 channels were functionally expressed in odontoblasts. The activation of P2X3 receptors induced an action potential in the Aδ neurons, underlying a sensory generation mechanism of dentinal pain.  相似文献

Introduction

Few studies have reported direct pulp capping in inflamed pulp conditions. The purpose of this study was to investigate the in vitro and in vivo responses of dental pulp during direct pulp capping using various pulp capping materials in inflamed conditions.

Methods

Human dental pulp cells were treated with lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and cultured with Dycal (Dentsply Caulk, Milford, DE), ProRoot MTA (Dentsply Maillefer, Ballaigues, Switzerland), and Endocem MTA (Maruchi, Wonju, South Korea). The expressions of interleukin (IL)-1β, IL-6, dentin matrix protein 1, and dentin sialophosphoprotein were analyzed through real-time polymerase chain reaction. The maxillary molars of Sprague-Dawley rats were exposed for 2 days. The exposed pulps were capped with Dycal, ProRoot MTA, and Endocem MTA and sealed with resin-modified glass ionomer followed by histologic and immunohistochemical analyses.

Results

The expression of IL-1β and IL-6 was increased with LPS and decreased by Dycal, ProRoot MTA, and Endocem MTA. Dentin matrix protein 1 and dentin sialophosphoprotein levels were decreased with LPS and increased after treatment with pulp capping materials.In the in vivo study, inflammation associated with Dycal was higher than that associated with ProRoot MTA and Endocem MTA at week 1, without any significant difference between the 2. At 4 weeks, inflammation was decreased, and mineralization was increased compared with week 1 in all 3 of the materials. At week 1, IL-6 immunoreactivity was strongly expressed. Dycal exhibited stronger immunoreactivity than ProRoot MTA and Endocem MTA. However, the immunoreactivity was decreased in all groups at week 4.

Conclusions

Successful direct pulp capping requires more effective pulp capping materials for the treatment of inflamed pulps.  相似文献
