TRAUMATIC NASAL LEUCODERMA IN CHILDHOOD

Four children have been seen with a white line across the nose due to leucoderma in a transverse nasal crease, both of which are due to the habit of pushing up the tip of the nose with the palm or fingers. The parents are usually worried about the cosmetic defect but often have not realised the relation between the habit and the white line, or had not registered that the child had the habit, so that recognition and reassurance depend on appreciation of the cause, which may not be suggested by the history.     

CELLULAR GRAFTS IN MANAGEMENT OF LEUCODERMA

Cellular grafting methods constitute important advances in the surgical management of leucoderma. Different methods such as noncultured epidermal suspensions, melanocyte cultures, and melanocyte-keratinocyte cultures have all been shown to be effective. This article reviews these methods.     

TRICHOPHYTON VIOLACEUM INFECTION IN AN INDIAN SCHOOL

Trichophyton violaceum infection was found in 26% of 69 children attending a public boarding school. The possible source of infection may have been the adult women from the gypsy community discussed. Treatment with systemic griseofulvin and external sulphur salicylic ointment eliminated the infection in all affected individuals.
