Aim of the present investigation was to study the effects of an eccentric training on the neuromuscular properties of the plantar-flexor muscles. The experiment was carried out on 14 males divided into two groups (eccentric and control). Eccentric training consisted of six sets of six eccentric contractions at 120 % of one maximal concentric repetition and it was performed four times a week during four weeks. Before and after the 4-wk period, the plantar-flexor torque and the associated electromyographic activity were recorded during voluntary contractions (isometric, concentric and eccentric) and electrically induced contractions (twitch and tetanus), in order to distinguish central from peripheral adaptations. For the eccentric group, voluntary torque significantly increased after training independent of the action mode (relative gains 14 - 30 %, p < 0.05). This was associated with an increase in agonist EMG activity during isometric action and a decrease in antagonist coactivation in concentric (-27 %) and eccentric actions (-22 %) (p < 0.05). Voluntary activation level significantly increased from 80 +/- 5 % to 91 +/- 2 % (p < 0.05). Some of the twitch contractile properties (peak torque and maximal rate of twitch tension relaxation) were significantly modified (p < 0.05), but no changes were observed for the tetanus characteristics. These results allowed to conclude that the torque gains observed after the present training were more likely associated to central adaptations, affecting both agonist and antagonist muscles.  相似文献

This study was designed to test the hypothesis that an eccentric training period induces a reduction of neuromuscular fatigability following an eccentric exercise. Before (Pre-T) and after (Post-T) a 7-wks sub-maximal eccentric training, ten active males performed a fatiguing exercise consisting of five sets of ten maximal eccentric elbow flexions. Before (Pre-T-1 and Post-T-1) and after (Pre-T-2 and Post-T-2) each fatiguing exercise, the voluntary torque and its associated agonistic electromyographic activity (RMS), assessed at four angular velocities (-60 degrees x s (-1); 0 degrees x s (-1); 60 degrees x s (-1); 240 degrees x s (-1)) were measured. The isometric voluntary activation level and twitch contractile properties were measured. The training period induced significant eccentric and isometric torque gains. While isometric and concentric torque decreases were similar Pre-T-2 and Post-T-2, the eccentric torque loss was significantly lower Post-T-2 than Pre-T-2 (-11.7 +/- 10.2 % and -20.5 +/- 6.5 %, respectively; p < 0.05). The reduction of the twitch maximal rate of torque rise was also significantly lower Post-T-2 (-49.4 +/- 11.9 %) than Pre-T-2 (-65.2 +/- 9.8 %) (p < 0.05). The loss of maximal voluntary activation and RMS were similar Pre-T-2 and Post-T-2. The present experiment showed that a 7-wks eccentric training period produced contraction-type specific adaptations that significantly reduced the exercise-induced torque loss during eccentric muscle actions.  相似文献

Intramuscular pressures, electromyography (EMG) and torque generation during isometric, concentric and eccentric maximal isokinetic muscle activity were recorded in 10 healthy volunteers. Pressure and EMG activity were continuously and simultaneously measured side by side in the tibialis anterior and soleus muscles. Ankle joint torque and position were monitored continuously by an isokinetic dynamometer during plantar flexion and dorsiflexion of the foot. The increased force generation during eccentric muscular activity, compared with other muscular activity, was not accompanied by higher intramuscular pressure. Thus, this study demonstrated that eccentric muscular activity generated higher torque values for each increment of intramuscular pressure. Intramuscular pressures during antagonistic co-activation were significantly higher in the tibialis anterior muscle (42–46% of maximal agonistic activity) compared with the soleus muscle (12–29% of maximal agonistic activity) and was largely due to active recruitment of muscle fibers. In summary, eccentric muscular activity creates higher torque values with no additional increase of the intramuscular pressure compared with concentric and isometric muscular activity.  相似文献

Torque production during maximal voluntary explosive contractions is considered to be a functionally more relevant neuromuscular measure than steady‐state torque, but little is known about accelerated concentric contractions. This study investigated torque, muscle activity, and fascicle behavior during isometric and fast concentric contractions of quadriceps femoris. Ten participants performed maximal voluntary explosive isometric, isovelocity, and additional concentric knee extensions at angular accelerations ranging from 700 to 4000° s?2 that resulted in an angular velocity of 300° s?1 at 40° knee flexion. Concentric torque at 40° knee flexion was corrected for inertia, and the corresponding isometric torque was matched to the time when the target knee angle of 40° was reached during concentric contractions. Electromyography of quadriceps femoris and hamstrings and ultrasound of vastus lateralis were measured to determine muscle activity, fascicle length, and fascicle velocity (FV). The faster the acceleration, the more torque was produced during concentric contractions at 40° knee flexion, which was accompanied by a reduction in FV. In comparison with isometric conditions, concentric quadriceps muscle activity was increased and torque during accelerations ≥3000° s?2 equaled the time‐matched isometric torque. Our results provide novel evidence that acceleration influences torque production during maximal voluntary explosive concentric contractions. This is suggested to be due to series elasticity and reduced force depression.  相似文献

PURPOSE: This study examined the effects of training background on the relationship between the neuromuscular fatigue profile and maximal voluntary torque production in isometric, concentric, and eccentric contraction modes. METHODS: Before and after three sets of 31 isokinetic concentric knee extensions at 60 degrees .s(-1), voluntary and electrically induced contractions were recorded in 14 endurance-trained (ENDU) men (seven cyclists: age 25 +/- 2 yr, mass 70 +/- 8 kg, height 175 +/- 5 cm; and seven triathletes: age 27 +/- 4 yr, mass 71 +/- 5 kg, height 179 +/- 6 cm) and seven explosive power-trained men (EXPLO: age 24 +/- 1 yr, mass 73 +/- 5 kg, height 179 +/- 4 cm). Maximal knee-extension torque, activation level (twitch interpolation technique), electromyographic activity of agonist and antagonist muscles, and twitch contractile properties were assessed. RESULTS: At preexercise, the maximal voluntary isometric and concentric torques of EXPLO were greater than those of ENDU (P < 0.05). After the fatiguing exercise, significant isometric (18%; P < 0.01) and concentric (25%; P < 0.05) torque decreases in EXPLO were associated with, respectively, twitch torque (Pt) and maximal rate of twitch development (+dPt/dt) reductions (P < 0.01) and with an increase in the antagonist coactivation level (P < 0.01). No modification was observed for ENDU. Interestingly, the coactivation level was also increased (P < 0.01) in eccentric contraction for EXPLO, although the maximal eccentric torque decrease (P < 0.01) could not be specifically attributed to any group. CONCLUSION: The fatiguing exercise induced central and peripheral adaptations, but the mechanisms differed regarding the contraction mode. At pre- and postfatiguing exercise, it seems that the neuromuscular profile depends on the subject's training background and the contraction modes used to assess fatigue.  相似文献

Isometric and isokinetic (concentric and eccentric, strength of alpine skiers with different performance levels were measured. Nine national (elite, EG) and 10 collegiate (trained, TG) female alpine skiers (16 to 23 years of age) performed maximal voluntary knee extension and flexion. Peak torque was measured at an angular velocity of 30 deg.s-1. The cross-sectional area (CSA) of thigh muscles (quadriceps and hamstring muscles) was determined by an ultrasonic method. No significant differences in anthropometric variables and CSA were observed between EG and TG. EG had significantly greater (p < 0.01 for extensors and p < 0.05 for flexors) eccentric knee extensor and flexor strength than that of TG whereas no significant differences were noted in isometric and concentric strength. Eccentric strength/CSA ratio was also higher for EG than for TG. It was suggested that knee extension and flexion strength during eccentric muscle action might be related to the performance level of alpine skiers.  相似文献

This study examined the impact of sport specificity on the time course of fatigue during maximal voluntary eccentric, concentric and isometric torque production following a submaximal isokinetic fatiguing exercise. Seven cyclists and seven triathletes performed a fatiguing exercise consisting of nine sets of 31 isokinetic concentric knee extensions at 1.05 rad . s (-1). Fatigue was assessed pre-exercise, after three and six sets, and post-exercise. The maximal knee extension torque associated with electromyographic (EMG) activity was recorded during voluntary contractions and electrically induced contractions (single and paired twitches). The maximal voluntary eccentric torque production declined in cyclists (18 +/- 3.5 %, p < 0.05) and was not significantly affected in triathletes (5 +/- 2.5 %, p > 0.05). The decrease in cyclists was associated with an increase in the sum of the normalized EMG (nRMS) values of the three agonist muscles (p < 0.01). Although no significant difference was observed between groups, the two-way repeated-measure analysis of variance revealed a time effect on maximal concentric and isometric torque, twitch contractile and electrophysiological response (M (max)) properties. No modification in the activation and coactivation levels was observed. In conclusion, these results indicate that the time course of fatigue, especially during eccentric contractions, is mediated by sport-specific adaptations likely due to the mode of muscle contraction used in the activity.  相似文献

PURPOSE: The aim of the study was to use eccentric strength training of the plantar flexor muscles to investigate the plasticity of the spinal reflexes during maximal voluntary isometric, concentric, and eccentric contractions. METHODS: Eighteen healthy male subjects were divided into an eccentric strength training group (N = 10) and a control group (N = 8). The training program consisted of 18 sessions of eccentric exercise for a 7-wk period. All subjects were tested before, during, and after the training program. Soleus (SOL) and medial gastrocnemius (MG) spinal reflexes (H-reflex and V-wave) and M-waves were evoked at the same angular position during passive isometric, concentric, and eccentric actions (i.e., Hmax and Mmax, respectively) and during maximal voluntary isometric, concentric, and eccentric plantar flexion (MVC) (i.e., Hsup, V-wave, and Msup, respectively). RESULTS:: Both SOL and MG Hmax/Mmax ratios remained unchanged whatever the action type after training. The Hsup/Msup ratio was increased only during eccentric MVC for the SOL (P < 0.01) and regardless of the contraction type for the MG (P < 0.05). The eccentric SOL Hsup/Msup ratio was not different from the isometric and concentric Hsup/Msup ratios after 7 wk of training. The V/Msup ratios were increased during isometric and eccentric contractions for the SOL and regardless of the contraction type for the MG after training. CONCLUSION:: In conclusion, the present results suggest that the increase in voluntary torque induced by eccentric training could be ascribed, according to the contraction type, to an increased volitional drive from the supraspinal centers, which may induce neural adaptations at the spinal level. Changes in the regulation of the balance between excitation and inhibition affecting the motoneuron pool were suggested to explain the plasticity of the spinal reflexes.  相似文献

PURPOSE: This study was designed to determine whether torque decrease following an acute eccentric exercise is contraction type dependent. METHODS: Ten active males performed an exercise session consisting of five sets of ten maximal eccentric muscle actions of the elbow flexors. Before and immediately after the exercise, maximal voluntary eccentric (-60 degrees.s-1; Ecc60), isometric (0 degrees.s-1; Iso) and concentric (60 degrees.s-1; Con60 and 240 degrees.s-1; Con240) torque were measured. In order to distinguish central from peripheral factors involved in torque decrement, activation level (twitch interpolation technique), myoelectrical activity (RMS) of biceps brachii, as well as electrically evoked M-wave and peak twitch torque (Pt) were recorded. RESULTS: The eccentric exercise induced a significant torque reduction (P < 0.01), whatever the muscular contraction type [mean (SD): -22.3 (8.1)% for Ecc60; -20.8 (11.2)% for Iso; -18.5 (6.1)% for Con60 and -12.5 (8.9)% for Con240]. Relative torque decrement was however significantly less for Con240 compared with Ecc60, Iso, and Con60 (P < 0.05). Torque decreases were associated with a reduction of both M-wave amplitude (P < 0.01) and Pt (P < 0.001), probably related to an impairment of the excitation-contraction coupling. Concurrently, activation level was reduced (P < 0.01), therefore indicating the occurrence of central fatigue, as also confirmed by RMS decreases for all the conditions (P < 0.05), except Con240. DISCUSSION: An acute eccentric exercise induced a significant voluntary maximal torque reduction during eccentric, isometric, and concentric muscle actions ascribed to both peripheral and central failure of force production capacity. It can be concluded that eccentric exercise-induced torque decrease is not contraction type dependent.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to assess, via an EMG bio-feedback method, the ankle joint angle effect on the agonist and antagonist torques in plantar- (PF) and dorsi-flexion (DF). The isometric PF and DF maximal voluntary contractions (MVCs) torques were measured simultaneously with surface EMG activity of triceps surae (TS) and tibialis anterior (TA) muscles in 12 young adults (mean age 27) at five different ankle joint angles. Our results showed that: (i) The coactivation level does not properly reflect the mechanical effect of the antagonist muscle, (ii) TS antagonist torque significantly altered the DF MVC-angle relationship, whereas TA antagonist torque did not influence this MVC-angle relationship in PF. The alteration of the MVC with angular position was due, in part, to the coactivation phenomenon in DF, but not in PF. Thenceforth, when investigating the torque at the ankle joint, it is necessary to take into account both agonist and antagonist torque modifications with ankle joint angle.  相似文献

This investigation sought to determine the effect of resistance training to failure on functional, structural and neural elbow flexor muscle adaptation. Twenty‐eight males completed a 4‐week familiarization period and were then counterbalanced on the basis of responsiveness across; non‐failure rapid shortening (RS; rapid concentric, 2 s eccentric), non‐failure stretch‐shortening (SSC; rapid concentric, rapid eccentric), and failure control (C, 2 s concentric, 2 s eccentric), for a 12‐week unilateral elbow flexor resistance training regimen, 3 × week using 85% of one repetition maximum (1RM). 1RM, maximal voluntary contraction (MVC), muscle cross‐sectional area (CSA), and muscle activation (EMGRMS) of the agonist, antagonist, and stabilizer muscles were assessed before and after the 12‐week training period. The average number of repetitions per set was significantly lower in RS 4.2 [confidence interval (CI): 4.2, 4.3] and SSC 4.2 (CI: 4.2, 4.3) compared with C 6.1 (CI: 5.8, 6.4). A significant increase in 1RM (30.5%), MVC (13.3%), CSA (11.4%), and agonist EMGRMS (22.1%) was observed; however, no between‐group differences were detected. In contrast, antagonist EMGRMS increased significantly in SSC (40.5%) and C (23.3%), but decreased in RS (13.5%). Similar adaptations across the three resistance training regimen suggest repetition failure is not critical to elicit significant neural and structural changes to skeletal muscle.  相似文献

Abstract Although muscle power output has been evaluated from various dynamic muscle contractions, muscle power outputs exerted by concentric and eccentric contractions due to different physiological mechanisms have not been examined thoroughly. This study aimed to reveal characteristics of eccentric power output exerted by elbow flexion, and to examine the relationship between eccentric and concentric outputs. Ten young males performed single power output tasks via concentric contraction with 40%, 50%, and 60% maximal voluntary contraction (MVC), and by eccentric contraction with 130% and 140% MVC. Power output due to concentric and eccentric contractions was measured using a power measurement instrument with a rotary encoder attached to the pulley. The eccentric contraction velocities in both loads were maximal, about 0.5 s, at about a 90° bend of the elbow joint after the onset of contraction. Although eccentric contraction with 140% MVC completed in about 0.5 s (range, 0.22–0.73 s), contractions with 130% MVC completed in about 8 s (range, 1.41–12.08 s) due to moderate contraction velocities. The reliability of the eccentric power parameters was found to be good, as well as that of the concentric power. The average velocity of eccentric contraction with 130% MVC correlated significantly with the peak power of concentric contraction with 60% MVC. In conclusion, eccentric power may be influenced more by maximal strength rather than muscle contraction velocity.  相似文献

Stretch-shortening cycle (SSC), which is a normal contraction behavior of muscle, was used as a model to investigate muscular fatigue. Nine male volunteers were subjected to 100 repeated and exhaustive SSC contractions of the forearm extensors using a special sledge apparatus incorporating a force plate system. The fatigue contractions were performed on submaximal levels but the before-after comparison also included maximal drop-jump condition on the sledge as well as falls on to the floor. The results indicated that in the 100 submaximal SSCs the fatigue was characterized by increases in the contact times for both the eccentric and concentric phases of SSC, but the influence was more pronounced on the concentric part. The force-time curves during contact on the platform were influenced by fatigue so that the initial force peak became higher and the subsequent initial drop of force more pronounced. During submaximal and maximal drops, the angular velocities changed in the two phases of SSC. With progressing fatigue, the eccentric maximal angular velocity increased and the corresponding concentric velocities decreased. These changes were accompanied by slight changes in the elbow joint mechanism with respect to the contact, release, and maximal flexion angles. The results suggest that repeated SSC induces fatigue and the fatigue effects on the mechanical behavior of the muscle are very much similar to those induced by either isometric or concentric fatigue contractions. However, the transfer of the energy between eccentric and concentric phases was drastically reduced and this implies that SSCs can be used effectively to examine the fatiguability of the system regulating muscle stiffness during exercise.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to examine concentric, isometric, and eccentric strength reductions in the quadriceps muscle following a prolonged running exercise. Before and after a 2 h run (28.4+/-1.4 km) peak torque (PT) of the knee extensors at angular velocities of -120, -90, -60, 0, 60, 120, 180, 240 degrees x s(-1) using an isokinetic dynamometer, electromyographic (EMG) activity of the vastus lateralis (VL) and vastus medialis (VM) muscles and height of a counter movement jump were recorded in twelve well-trained triathletes. Counter movement jump performances decreased by 10% and PT values were all significantly lower (p < 0.01) at each angular velocity following the run. The torque loss was significantly (p < 0.01) greater under eccentric contractions (from 18 to 21%) than under concentric ones (from 11 to 14%). EMG activity (RMS) was lower in both VL and VM muscles after the 2 h run but no difference existed in RMS losses between concentric and eccentric contractions. The present results demonstrate that 1) a prolonged running exercise more greatly affects eccentric force production in the quadriceps muscle, and 2) this specificity seems to be due to an impairment of the muscular contractile mechanism rather than a modification to the neural input.  相似文献

While strength patterns in aging for the knee joint have been well investigated in the concentric mode, few data are available about the behaviour in the eccentric mode and for either modus in the ankle. The purpose of this study was to compile reference data for the lower extremities in untrained men between 20 and 60 years of age to determine the influence of age, especially in the eccentric work mode. Sixty-four male subjects between 20 and 60 years were divided into four age groups. Using a LIDO ACTIVE dynamometer, maximum torque was tested for the knee between 90 degrees to 0 degrees and for the ankle between 30 degrees to -10 degrees at velocities 60, 180, 240, 300 degrees/s concentric, 60 and 120 degrees/s eccentric and isometric with angles 15 degrees, 30 degrees, 45 degrees, 60 degrees, 75 degrees for the knee and 30 degrees, 20 degrees, 10 degrees, 0 degrees , -10 degrees for the ankle. Individual parameters for age-dependence were checked using linear correlation calculation with p < 0.01 set as significant. The peak torque (PT) of the knee extensors and flexors showed a typical course with the highest values in the eccentric and isometric mode and a decrease in the concentric mode with increasing angular velocity. In the concentric mode there was a significant negative correlation between PT and age at all angular velocities, but none for isometric and eccentric mode. The greatest maximum torque in the ankle was attained in the eccentric mode at 60 degrees/s. The difference to the knee was smallest in this mode compared to isometric and concentric. The plantar flexion showed age-dependence at all concentric velocities, less in eccentric and none in isometric mode. There was no correlation in dorsiflexion. The influence of loss of muscle fiber and degeneration in the course of aging has thus less influence in eccentric measurements than in the concentric mode. On the contrary, it must be assumed that the high eccentric tensions which are possible due to the quasi-elastic structures in the muscle, are maintained by the increase in stiffness of the connective tissue.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to compare pure eccentric and concentric strength training regarding possible specific effects of muscle action type on neuromuscular parameters, such as a decreased inhibition during maximal voluntary eccentric actions. Two groups of young healthy adult men performed 10 weeks of either eccentric or concentric unilateral isokinetic knee extensor training at 90 degrees.s(-1), 4 sets of 10 maximal efforts, 3 days a week. Knee extensor torque and surface EMG from the quadriceps and hamstring muscle groups were collected and quantified in a window between 30 and 70 degrees knee angle (range of motion 90-5 degrees ) during maximal voluntary eccentric and concentric knee extensor actions at 30, 90, and 270 degrees.s(-1). Changes in strength of the trained legs revealed more signs of specificity related to velocity and contraction type after eccentric than concentric training. No major training effects were present in eccentric to concentric ratios of agonist EMG or in relative antagonist (hamstring) activation. Thus, for the trained leg, the muscle action type and speed specific changes in maximal voluntary eccentric strength could not be related to any effects on neural mechanisms, such as a selective increase in muscle activation during eccentric actions. Interestingly, with both types of training there were specific cross-education effects, that is, action type and velocity specific increases in strength occurred in the contralateral, untrained, leg, accompanied by a specific increase in eccentric to concentric EMG ratio after eccentric training.  相似文献

Debate exists concerning the effect of contraction velocity on muscle damage, and few human studies have yet to address this issue. This study examined whether the velocity of eccentric exercise affected the magnitude of muscle damage. Twelve untrained subjects performed a series of slow velocity isokinetic eccentric elbow flexions (SV: 30 degrees . s (-1)) of one arm and a fast velocity exercise (FV: 210 degrees . s (-1)) of the other arm, separated by 14 days. In order to standardise the time under tension (120 s) for the two conditions, the number of muscle actions for SV was 30 and 210 for FV. Criterion measures consisted of maximal voluntary torque for isometric, concentric (4 velocities) and eccentric contractions (2 velocities), range of motion (ROM) and relaxed elbow joint angle (RANG), upper arm circumference, muscle soreness and plasma creatine kinase (CK) activity. Measures were taken before, immediately after, 0.5 hour and 24 - 168 hours (240 hours for CK) after each eccentric exercise protocol, and changes in the measures over time were compared between FV and SV by two-way repeated measures ANOVA. Both protocols resulted in significant decrements in isometric and dynamic torque (p < 0.01), but FV showed significantly (p < 0.05) greater reductions over time ( approximately 55 %) and a slower recovery compared to SV ( approximately 30 %). Significantly (p < 0.05) larger decreases in, and delayed recovery of, ROM and RANG were evident after FV compared to SV. FV had significantly (p < 0.05) larger increases in upper arm circumference and soreness compared to SV, and peak plasma CK activity was 4.5-fold greater (p < 0.05) following FV than SV. These results suggest that, for the same time under tension, fast velocity eccentric exercise causes greater muscle damage than slow velocity exercise in untrained subjects.  相似文献

Alfredson H, Pietilä T, Lorentzon R. Concentric and eccentric shoulder and elbow muscle strength in female volleyball players and non-active females. Maximal isokinetic concentric (60°/s and 180°/s) and eccentric (60°/s) muscle strength of the external and internal rotator muscles of the shoulder and the flexor and extensor muscles of the elbow was measured in a position resembling spiking and serving in volleyball, on 11 non-injured female volleyball players (first division) and 11 non-active females. In the dominant arm, the volleyball players had significantly higher concentric peak torque of the internal and external rotators and elbow extensors at both velocities, and significantly higher eccentric peak torque of the shoulder internal and external rotators and elbow flexors and extensors, than the controls. In the volleyball group, the concentric internal rotation peak torque at 60°/s was significantly higher in the dominant than in the non-dominant arm. The external/internal strength ratio was significantly lower at 60°/s, but not at 180°/s, in the dominant arm. Conclusion: The female volleyball players had a higher concentric and eccentric strength in the rotator muscles of the shoulder and in the extensor muscles of the elbow compared to untrained controls in this special test position. There were signs of rotator muscle imbalance at the low test speed, but no signs of weakness of the external rotators, in the dominant arm of the volleyball players.  相似文献

PURPOSE: Many symptoms of eccentric muscle damage can be substantially reduced if a similar eccentric bout is repeated within several weeks of the initial bout. The purpose of this study was to determine whether a nondamaging, low repetition, low volume eccentric exercise bout could also provide a protective/adaptive effect. METHODS: Subjects were assigned to a control (CON), eccentric exercise (ECC), or low volume familiarized eccentric exercise group (LV+ECC). Before the study, the LV+ECC group performed six maximal eccentric contractions during two familiarization sessions. The main eccentric bout targeted the elbow flexor muscle group and consisted of 36 maximal eccentric contractions. Muscle soreness, upper arm girth, elbow angle, creatine kinase activity, isometric torque, and concentric and eccentric torque at 0.52 and 3.14 rad.s-1 were assessed 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, and 10 d postexercise. RESULTS: No evidence of muscle damage was observed as a result of the low volume eccentric bouts. Nevertheless, with the exception of muscle soreness and concentric torque, all variables recovered more rapidly in the LV+ECC group (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: Adaptation to eccentric exercise can occur in the absence of significant muscle damage. Exposure to a small number of nondamaging eccentric contractions can significantly improve recovery after a subsequent damaging eccentric bout. Furthermore, this adaptation appears to be mode-specific and not applicable to concentric contractions.  相似文献

Possible changes in muscle size and function due to resistance training were examined in prepubertal boys. Thirteen boys (9-11 yr) volunteered for each of the training and control groups. Progressive resistance training was performed three times weekly for 20 wk. Measurements consisted of the following: 1 repetition maximum (RM) bench press and leg press; maximal voluntary isometric and isokinetic elbow flexion and knee extension strength; evoked isometric contractile properties of the right elbow flexors and knee extensors; muscle cross-sectional area (CSA) by computerized tomography at the mid-right upper arm and thigh; and motor unit activation (MUA) by the interpolated twitch procedure. Training significantly increased 1 RM bench press (35%) and leg press (22%), isometric elbow flexion (37%) and knee extension strength (25% and 13% at 90 degrees and 120 degrees, respectively), isokinetic elbow flexion (26%) and knee extension (21%) strength, and evoked twitch torque of the elbow flexors (30%) and knee extensors (30%). There were no significant effects of training on the time-related contractile properties (time to peak torque, half-relaxation time), CSA, or %MUA of the elbow flexors or knee extensors. There was, however, a trend toward increased MUA for the elbow flexors and knee extensors in the trained group. Strength gains were independent of changes in muscle CSA, and the increases in twitch torque suggest possible adaptations in muscle excitation-contraction coupling. Improved motor skill coordination (especially during the early phase of training), a tendency toward increased MUA, and other undetermined neurological adaptations, including better coordination of the involved muscle groups, are likely the major determinants of the strength gains in this study.  相似文献
